I remember everyone would sit down at Embarcadero when Mike or Henry were skating.....true story. They were so dope these videos dont really do them justice.I miss these tremendously.
this video came out in 1992, and blew skateboarding to pieces. TIm Gavin was good, but Henry was other-worldly. To do tech with this much authority and power was unheard of. yeah yeah, #shutitGrandpa
This is also in my rotation of top 50 skate parts all time that I watch to get psyked to go skate... *Henry doesn't even know how many he influenced with his style. LEGEND!
Switch inward heel in 92? Yeah, you could say that was pushing the envelope. One of the most ground breaking parts ever. The speed he skated with was also what made it so sick.
I thought so too when this came out and then for a while thought it was actually a switch pressure flip and was going to say so to you but I double checked and yes, it is in fact switch inward heel. I'll show myself out lol. PS the brick sound really captures the speed
I can only imagine how pumped i would be to watch or land any of those tricks back then. Especially at the old embarcadero, where so much went down. In '92 I was 12 and shuv it was amazing. Switch or mongo who cares, I taught my self to skate switch for fun but I can't tell you when I set up how I push. And i met Stevie Williams super nice guy and skate technician!
Henry is the most underrated skater of all time....... He should really be on a par with Koston, Mariano and Carroll as he invented plenty of tricks back in day and helped take skating to the next level. Anyone that hates on him really doesn't understand what skateboarding was all about in early 90's.
5:14 I remember rewinding this so many times when this video first came out so I could learn it. Half the tricks he does back then 20 years ago guys can't do now.
why? When i see it it tells me the person doesn't want to learn to push switch or like in alot of cases they want to flex they are doing it switch.. Whatevs,,Henry & this vid is in my personal top 10 just like Stevie said.... My crew doesn't skate switch unless it's for a control purpose or whatevs.. i never understood why switch is respected.
@@CT-nb5lm it depends on the person for me mongo switch is uncomfortable for others its more comfortable also its respected because you had the patience and motivation to re-learn trick you already know how to do
Some guys can pull it off and make it look better (Mike Carroll is the prime example). It was more acceptable in 90s cause dudes were trying to show that the trick they were doing was switch. Also who cares as long as you aren't pushing mongo in your regular stance
Seeing that manual part over the concrete divider; everyone in the suburbs like me had one of those and this opened that up as a pro-level spot so much.
It’s sickening how great he is , going so fast doing most tricks switch and just keeps pushing to do the next trick I understand why he’s one of the greatest
summer 2020 and i pre session this video cause it's the way i skate now that im 45. (not anywhere near Henry's level but style wise and Curb dancing) I love the way he reverts out of alot of stuff.. any grind you revert out or quick Shuv into a 50/50 feels great.. Dude never got the status he deserved for sure.. Same W/ The Gav.
Not only is this one of most classic parts with possibly the most ground breaking skating of the early 90s era, but it’s also a showcase of what are considered today to be two of the most classic spots - Embarcadero and Lockwood. Henry was holding it down in both SF and LA.
I was almost word for word gona write this same comment lol Never got to skate there myself but even on video that emb brick ground has to be one of the best skateboarding sounds ever!
Anyone dissing any part of this video who wasn't around in 1992 should just shut the hell up. You're a big part of what's wrong with skateboarding. You worry too much about what other people think -- what's trendy or cool. I recommend watching some '80s videos so you can see the progress that has been made.
I've been skateboarding for 16+ years and I still occasionally throw down mongo or push mongo switch. Sometimes it feels better. All you haters are fools, speculating and debating over nothing. Koston and Carroll both throw down mongo switch. As well as other legends. It's only lame if your primary way of skating is mongo.
It's funny, too, when people say Eric Koston pushes switch mongo because he was one of the first guys to do just the opposite. In his very first full part (H-Street Next Generation), he skates switch and pushes with his back foot. Try to talk shit on that, Peanut Gallery.
Man I agree fully with you, about mongo. pushing mongo is fricking rad, cause normaly mongo is being used to skate switch,it a unorthodoxed but effective technique, haters learn your kungfu,36 chambers & then mongo will be repected for its true steeze,4 ways to push, mongo to regular mongo to goofy, regular regular, goofy goofy. mongo is rear wheel drive, sports car style
Total legend! Without question the most underrated skater of all time....
I remember everyone would sit down at Embarcadero when Mike or Henry were skating.....true story. They were so dope these videos dont really do them justice.I miss these tremendously.
'92 SWITCH BIGFLIP!! So much raw energy, i bet this man was gnarly even when eating his peas
best part with the best song ...I watch this once a year still
Me too
For all those hating on the baggy pants, calm yourself. Its gonna be back in 10 years.
👍
ha ha this comment aged exceptionally, Nostradamus over here.
Looks like you nailed it 🎯
That comment was an investment 😂
Daaamn you’re a prophet!

yeah yeah, #shutitGrandpa
I’m 23 in 2020 and I recognize the greatness
The Blind promo killed the pressure flip lol. It also made me worship Guy Mariano even more.
I skated there at EMB San Fran. Tourist from Canada. I'll be 44 this year. Still skating.
Henry is a legend. His part in "Sight Unseen" still being one of my favorits parts of all time.
This is also in my rotation of top 50 skate parts all time that I watch to get psyked to go skate...

Henry was killing it back then. He inspired me to learn switch hardflips in 1992. I could never do them regular though lol
So much innovation in this part at that time and I watch it now 2015 and still looks progressive.
Never gets old. ❤️😊

He was on par but his personal issues got the better of him.
I just realized all my favorite skater's styles are based on Henry Sanchez. He should be remembered like Carroll and Koston...
i still love baggy
watch before you skate!
The 5-0 back 180 nose grind HOLY FUCK! Even on a curb, gohtdam.
Andrew J you’re right.
Still sick in 23
5:14 I remember rewinding this so many times when this video first came out so I could learn it. Half the tricks he does back then 20 years ago guys can't do now.
Agh never gets old. Glad i grew up with this instead of the crap now days. 90s produced legends 🔥🔥🔥
I agree with you
The times are different but I wouldn't say the era skating is in is crap.
skating 100 mph and hitting non-waxed ledges, what a beast.
dat 90's feeling....
There's nothing wrong with pushing mongo if it's switch or fakie
why?
When i see it it tells me the person doesn't want to learn to push switch or like in alot of cases they want to flex they are doing it switch..
Whatevs,,Henry & this vid is in my personal top 10 just like Stevie said....

Keep telling yourself that sicko
Eric Koston, Josh Kalis , Mike Caroll, Stevie and orther Legend push switch mongo when he Switch or Fakie trick 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
I had Henry's board on Real back in the day, was by far my favorite shape/board
5:14 …I saw kris markovich did this in adio one step beyond but little did I know Henry did it like 10 years before him
Seeing that manual part over the concrete divider; everyone in the suburbs like me had one of those and this opened that up as a pro-level spot so much.
all on a 9 incher too damn son
Word on the street is you did it all on a 9 incher too damn son
It’s sickening how great he is , going so fast doing most tricks switch and just keeps pushing to do the next trick I understand why he’s one of the greatest
The best period of my life .
Me too
There was nothing like skating in the early 90’s man. Good times!
mad influential. big time inspiration. - from someone born in 98
summer 2020 and i pre session this video cause it's the way i skate now that im 45.
(not anywhere near Henry's level but style wise and Curb dancing)

90s skateboarding was the truth 🔥🔥🔥🔥💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
this was so crazy for its time
Once or twice a week?! Lol Stevie is a super fan
Crazy this came out 28 years ago!!
switch big spin flip in 1992 was fucking nuts
Loving that 90's style.
What a great video. It doesn’t matter if you push mongo or whatever. Skateboarding has no rules, that’s what makes it great! You do you!
Thank you sir
thats a switch bigspin flip.sure henry might have been the 1st to do it.
switch bigspins are easier than bigspins.
Has to be the first one on film for sure
I skated there in the 90's. Embarcadero's a legendary spot. I'm age 44 now

First photo I saw of Henry was a Real Skateboards 50-50 down a rail. Maybe it was a frontside nosegrind, but I immediately wanted to see more.
Underrated dude.
Amazing!
The sound of the red bricks was magic at EMB. I skated there when this video came out
I was almost word for word gona write this same comment lol Never got to skate there myself but even on video that emb brick ground has to be one of the best skateboarding sounds ever!
Unreal switch innovation 🙌
is it weird id rather watch this than the p-rod tearing it up
Even by today's standards that was impressive 5:14
fax style is so raw
I remember attempting hardflips after this and having no luck with my mobbed kickflips. For some reason I didn't see Love Child until later.
Sweet jesus I'd totally forgotten about this guy, he used to be in a lot of 411 vids way back when.
damn i miss watching skate videos for fun
One of the gnarliest street skaters ever.
Stevie Williams still sits down to watch a full length skate video once or twice a week? I hardly had enough time to watch this clip.
This video got me into Black Sabbath big time, and to this day I get upset when someone has EMB footage with all music and no bricks.
switch flip nose manny in 92. best ever
Pushing the envelope back then. Was that nasty last trick in front of the old Volcom indoor?
Anyone dissing any part of this video who wasn't around in 1992 should just shut the hell up. You're a big part of what's wrong with skateboarding. You worry too much about what other people think -- what's trendy or cool. I recommend watching some '80s videos so you can see the progress that has been made.
Who's here because of the nine club..
Henry was before his time...he did many "firsts" in skating . new tricks in the 90s
Smallest wheels ever - remember how fast they worn out and how you slowed down all the time especially on ruff terrain.
Loved Sanchez.
respect to stevie & to henry, rapid fire skating, classic,
Although it's a damn amazing part, that same evil sun glare that destroyed Lennie Kirk's Hubba trick got to Henry as well.
I'm slowly finding out were all the Skate songs come from.
.. it's not how u push .. is how you get wild , ninjas!! ;) big respect to the old & nu school together!! ;)
Nice skate, nice song.
bigspin flip 2:10 IMPRESSIVE!!!
It was switch
Check out tech skaters of 1992
New Deal "Da Deal Is Dead"
Julio de la Cruz - Vangelis - Chariots Of Fire
What a classic.
I've been skateboarding for 16+ years and I still occasionally throw down mongo or push mongo switch. Sometimes it feels better. All you haters are fools, speculating and debating over nothing. Koston and Carroll both throw down mongo switch. As well as other legends. It's only lame if your primary way of skating is mongo.

that was a solid intro
It's funny, too, when people say Eric Koston pushes switch mongo because he was one of the first guys to do just the opposite. In his very first full part (H-Street Next Generation), he skates switch and pushes with his back foot. Try to talk shit on that, Peanut Gallery.
Who filmed this?
Emb forever
Timeless part. Fucking fuck man skating is the best!!!!!!!
godfather of switch fight me.

The blind volvo ,,once i saw them the blind team on it in lemon grove but they did not skate ,,the real deal Sánchez...
