  • Please help my little girl and her pony feel better and ride again! This video is very emotional about a little girl who's pony has become dangerous! This girl has become withdrawn and everyone around her has become upset, can we help repair the bond that is broken?

As someone who has been a lifelong equestrian and now a sufferer from PTSD I can wholeheartedly agree that horses can give you a special connection. When I can get back on a horse, even to walk around, it makes me so happy. It gives me hope that sometime soon I'll be able to get my life back again.
Thanks for the wonderful vid Steve!

Thank you for the wonderful video and for helping owners and horses learn to understand each other. We went through the same thing with our daughter, and it was amazing the change in her when she started horseback riding. It's like she found the key and the door was opened. Our daughter was later diagnosed with acetabular hip dysplasia. Due to her horseback riding, she was able to avoid surgery and her hip socket is now fully formed/closed. Her Orthopedic surgeon even encouraged horseback riding, because of all the benefits to the body. We also give back to the organization by sponsoring a rider and the maintenance of a horse stall, so that other kids like our daughter can experience the wonderful benefits of horseback riding. She still does therapeutic horseback riding, and always checks on her favorite horse that is now in semi-retirement. Thanks again and have a wonderful day!😀🐎

Whew! This WAS a puzzler! I had no idea at the start if Steve could reach Bug or how he would reach her. A tough dilemma to parse out, because it was horse on horse aggression, not horse on human. So Steve was a 3rd party referee, but how to get 2 horses to understand how that would work was at the heart of it working! A juggling act for sure. Trust is everything, but how to get that across when the horse was afraid of other horses? Even to understand that that was the root problem was a trick. Amazed again! Thanks Steve & Tanya!

I am a Swedish grandmother living in Rhode Island since many years. I used to ride when I was young. I LOVE watching all your videos and how you have found a beautiful way of training horses. Also, how you and Tanya have such a beautiful marriage and get along so well. I am sure there are difficult situations at times with difficult horses, difficult people etc, but the two of you, I find is on a very high spiritual level and you rise above pettiness. To watch your videos soothes my heart.

I LOVE Steve’s horsemanship and how he’s teaching us all about what to look for and what to do etc. It’s perfect, but I also REALLY LOVE Steve and Tanya’s relationship. Now that is perfect, with so much love, humour and absolute respect for each other. That’s half the journey really when you think about it.
I simply really enjoy everything about this channel.
Sending much love and thee very best of wishes from Melbourne, Australia♥️♥️

I wonder if she had a history of being low pony in the group with no real leader and has a very conditioned fear response. Poor Bug and I’m glad the pony was able to get her first chance to feel safe and comfortable at home. Maybe she’ll make a pony friend.

Brilliant video for training purposes. Since when do you not pull it off Steve? I have yet to see a video, that you haven't mastered the task at hand!
It doesn't mean it's all been smooth sailing or a bed of roses ... Tanya's made sure we get a glimpse of all of those priceless moments from time to time ... doesn't she Steve!?! 😁 Shall we just go ahead and call them missteps? 😂
[Pssssst ... Tanya ... maybe one-day you'll have enough footage to put together an hour's compilation of all the bloopers, over the years! 😂😉😁 LOL!]
It sounds to have been quite upsetting with all the struggles this family has gone through ... I can only imagine the difficulties of what they must have had to endure ... up until now. Hopefully life will be an easier road for them, now that the daughter's able to comfortably return to her previous interactions with her mare.
Kind of you guys to show others there can be happiness, in a world where all's not ideal. Commendable of you both for putting the family's needs ahead of your's, given we all know how limited and precious the time is for you both ... being so much in demand and all ... and I mean that most sincerely!
I didn't realize the mare's behaviour was fear-based and I see what you mean about how it appears she may have been hurt, by another pony or horse before. How sad for people not to have known the mare's true disposition.
One thing I learned today is how much horses (of all sizes) look to us for safety and protection. But then again, now that I think about it, my own pets all look to me to settle the family squabbles!
Thanks for the meal at the Pub ... it's always fun when you drag us along. I would have chosen your fish meal Steve, as I'm not sure if the chicken wings isn't also a meal in itself 😂 ... sorry Tanya your's didn't look quite as good.
Again, it's always entertaining and I so look forward to the VLOG's, of a day in the life of the Young family.
    Cheerio!

Too many of us were abused as children, especially by those who were supposed to love and protect us. I wanted a horse so much, we had plenty of land , but instead I was told I had enough work to do to keep me busy. Indeed that was my life, a laborer, slapped, beaten, til by 17 yrs of this I had enough and rebelled and left . I lived on the street, worked every disgusting job no one wanted , ate out of bins and restaurant leftovers. This kind of therapy could save so many damaged children. I worked my way through college and vet school, and became a rescuer...dogs and horses, and whatever wee soul needed me. My heart horse was a 16.2 Oldenburg that had been labeled as dangerous, was abused, beaten over fences, ridden in a double twist wire snaffle...Horrible! When we went to shows he would walk beside me with his nose against my neck. He would do anything I asked of him. At 33 years of age he said he'd wait for me and died with his head in my lap. I've often heard that abused children seek to heal and become healed..I guess it's true.🥺

As you say, a very sensitive situation when dealing with a child. I loved the story at the beginning; you were speaking the language of children and to the child in me. What a worthwhile endeavour. Congratulations to mom for reaching out to help her little girl, even when she didn't expect her message even to get read. And, by God, Steve and Tanya, you stepped up to the plate in stellar fashion! This little video is a huge teaching lesson to anyone who sees it, in so many ways. You couldn't have shared one bit of this without mum's permission, and the fact that she wanted this story to be shared for the benefit of others is another reason to say, "Well done, Mom!" And Thank You, Steve and Tanya.

You are so sweet to help this family with their pony. I know the little girl is glad to have her friend back again. Thank you for your generosity of time and helping them so much. I really like your videos. You are right about horses helping people. I don't know what it is about them but they do make you feel better. I know mine would take the stress out of my day. I am not sure why horses help us feel better but they do. Sometimes I think it is the concentration we have to use around them that makes us forget about what bothers us. Once again a beautiful story with a beautiful ending. I think the fellow in the your story is a prince.
