The high Sabbath could fall on any day. It could be on a Monday or any of the day. But according to scripture the passover falls on the 14th day of month Nisan. The 15th was a high Sabbath. Truly he died on Thursday but it was because that particular passover fell on a Thursday

My God... This man have journed in the spirit ohh God take me deeper and draw me to yourself.
According to the Scriptures, our Lord Jesus Christ was crucified on Friday morning, buried on that day and triumphantly resurrected on Sunday morning, being the "third day". Praise the Lord!
Understand these facts:
1). Jesus was arrested on Thursday night, (a day prior to the day of Preparation), and arraigned that same night and the trial commenced immediately which was held over the midnight and he was sentenced the following early morning! It was done with a great injustice! (Matthew 26:33-34, 66; 27:1).
2). On Friday morning (a day of Preparation) around 9 am He was crucified and died by 3 pm, spending 6 hours of great pain and agony on the Cross, bearing the iniquity of the entire human race (Matthew 27:1-2 22-23, 35; Mark 15:24-25; Matthew 27:45-46; Isaiah 53:3-8).
3). I will now explain some key points here to show that Jesus indeed was crucified on Friday and rose on Sunday:
i). A day of Preparation is the day before the Sabbath (Mark 15:42).
ii). Sabbath Day originally was not Sunday, it was Saturday. In fact, Sunday was the first day when God started His work of creations and ended on Friday, working for 6 continuous day, and rested on the seventh day (Saturday) and later gave the commandments to the Israelites - The Jews - through Moses that they should observe the seventh day as a day of rest (hence the word "Sabbath").
iii). However, in the New Testament the Sabbath is taking to be Sunday, the first day of the week because it was the day that Jesus resurrected and thus it became a practice for the saints to gather for worship (I Corinthians 16::1-2).
iv). When Jesus said the Son of man would spend 3 days and 3 night in the heart of the earth (Matthew 12:40), it can't be interpreted literally spending 3 distinct days and nights in the grave. No! Just consider the construct of the word, "...in the heart of the earth". It's a proverbial statement, similar to when He was speaking to His saints in Smyrna in Asia Minor, after His resurrection, that they will suffer tribulation 10 days (Revelation 2:8-10). It was not precise or distinct 10 days counting He was referring to, but proverbially that just a few days of suffering compared to how long (many days) they'd suffered in life already; or to the ones they will suffer in eternity if they backslide.
Or, even it can be compared to when we're speaking and said "yesterday" to an event that had happened more than a decade past. For instance, maybe we just see a boy with his mother whom we witnessed his birth about 12 years ago and parted since, but we now see him grown and almost as tall as we are, we say this boy that was born "yesterday" is now grown...
So, that statement shouldn't be taken literally or distinctly but as proverbial statement; otherwise, the Scriptures would contradict itself. God forbids!
v). In the Jewish Calendar they have two ways of counting time: by HOUR and by WATCH.
By Hour: Day Hour Counting and Night Hour Counting. In the day hour, starting from between 6 and 7 am, that's first hour; 8 am that's second hour; and 9 am, the third hour. So sixth hour is 12 pm and ninth hour is 3 pm. So Jesus was crucified at 9 am and died by 3 pm on Friday, on a day of Preparation is (Matthew 27:62; Mark 15:42; Luke 23:54; John 19:31). Please take note of John 19:31 very well. Because it was Preparation (Friday), a day before the Sabbath (Saturday), they wanted to break their legs so they would die before the Sabbath, a "high day"..
vi). On Sunday the day of the resurrection, the people who witnessed it live referred to the period of occurrence as the "third day" (Luke 24: 13-20, 21) while speaking on Sunday, the day He resurrected. What is that? If today is Sunday, and it's the third day an event happened, then the event happened on Friday (Friday - 1st day, Saturday - 2nd day, & Sunday - the 3rd day).
vii). This fulfilled the words of Jesus which He thought and reiterated to His disciples and the people that He would rise from the death the "third day" (Matthew 16:21; 17:23; 20:19; 27:64; Mark 9:31; 10:34; Luke 9:22; 13:32; 18:33; 24:7)
viii). So from the foregoing, it can be confirmed that Jesus Christ was crucified on Friday and on Sunday He resurrected.

Am sorry to say this. Please don't find this offensive. But will the bible ever be enough for the perfect practice of Christianity? Many important doctrines in Christianity are NOT biblical e.g TRINITY, CHRISTMAS etc and now the scientific explanation on cruxifiction of Jesus Christ is about to be more reliable in the eyes of the Christians than that of the bible.
