Holy moly retired Assistant Chief and current First Deputy Commissioner Joe Pfeifer!!
Yup
Living legend
Looking at those cars parked on that collapsed section, that's an awful lot of big heavy SUVs and vans. As old as that building was, I wonder if they ever structurally stiffened the floors to handle the increasing weight of newer cars. With all the safety and tech features nowadays, even smaller cars are pushing 4000 pounds and mid-sized SUVs can hit 5000. Even 20-30 years ago small cars were often well under 2500 pounds.
Thanks for watching
Looks like almost all of Manhattan companies were there. Excellent video Skyler. Fdny is definitely showing the rest of the country how to get it done.
For sure
Too many heavy SUV’s on that top level!!! I counted 50 that’s crazy weight. 1925 building not going to take that!!!
Might been used for horse and buggy way back then or like someone said a model T.
I'm just waiting for the big one and the earth will drop one foot in NYC.
I would be surprised if 20% stayed standing up.
Yeah
I am from the Midwest and stumbled on your channel by accident and I am hooked! FDNY is simply the best..❤
Pass it along! Please Subscribe! Thanks Again!
FDNY are definitely the best fire department in New York City.
I am in Salt Lake City, and saw what FDNY is made of,plus the many hours of training paid off in this situation.Communicatipn was extremely critical here.BTW, excellent comments by the Salt Lake City Fire Department. Thanks for a video under unusual circumstances.
Thanks so much! Hope to come to Salt Lake City one day!
Omg. The moment I saw the freedom tower and then chief Pfeiffer was so shocking given what happened down the street 22 years ago.. I was stunned he hadn't retired by now. He really is an unsung hero.
He did retire. He was just brought back this year
Makes you wonder what the rescue ops days after 9/11 would have been like if FDNY had those robotics and drones back then.
For sure
Wow. A 10-60. Thats a first for me to see. A pretty unique and rare call
For Sure
Buildings that aren't built for their current usage are a problem. Parking garages and storage depots
Yeah
As soon as I saw this on the news I said I wonder if he is covering it. Also great shot at 13:00
I was 15mins away so I shot right down
Great job Skyler given what you have to work with. Stay safe out there
Thanks, you too!
Great seeing deputy commissioner Pfeifer 👏👏
For Sure!
Outstanding Efforts as always Stay Safe 🇺🇸
Thanks, you too!
Thank you for good information and video.❤
Thanks
Great Work Skyler! Keepem Comin & Stay Safe Buddy!
Thanks for watching
Been waiting for this all afternoon lol
Hahaha
Wonderful video. Prayers for everyone.
Thanks
This is the result of a garage that was made for horse and buggy used to have cars and suv's park on it. This isn't the first garage that I've seen collapsed due to misuse of a structure.
There were signs that the structure was under too much of a load when that occurred.
Just like the condo collapsed in Fl.
Yup way to many cars (SUVs)
Building was built 1925.
Hot dog carts
Nice to see a real legit fire department official chief Esposito leading the news conference
Only the best!
I knew you would be there! Thank you!
You bet!
Thank you skyler for risking your own life attempting to cover this incident. God bless you.regards also to John.michael uk care home resident
Thanks!
Will be interesting to see how they get all the vehicles out.
I assume crane if it doesn’t collapse anymore
Holy crap! Chief Pfeifer! One of the most famous fire chiefs in the U.S. if not the world!
Yup!
Skyler I saw it on the news. You are doing a great video . FDNY are doing a good job to I just saw the fire dog there. 9:37
Thanks for watching
Park em tight...maximize the profits until the floors collapse
Yup $$$
Building looks like it was built in the 1920's ... Model T era, excellent coverage.
1925 per NYC DoITT.
Over 100 years old they said so yes
Nice catch man and Major Fire operator for structure collapse for parking lots
Thanks for watching
@@SkylerFire your welcome
This could have been much worse, say when people finish for the day or there could have been a fire...many questions need answers why was a structure of that era used for a purpose it was never meant to be ...why wasn't a routine inspection suggested and made .... who signed this off a structural sound building.... maybe this is a wake up call and inspections made on other similar structures for the person who died and those injured sake
Thanks for watching
God bless FDNY u guys are awsome please be safe from a retired Indianapolis fire 🔥 fighter
Thanks so much!
GREAT video thank you
Thanks
Cool to see Chief Pfeifer there
Thanks for watching
Saw the news. Terrible! Be safe,Skyler
Thanks
there may be footage down the road worth catching...removal of the cars on top and then removal of layer before next flat of cars come out. hope to see some of this down the road.
Yeah they have a fire watch / Collapse standby on scene
Send Ron Pratt to handle it!
Wow! Chief Pfeifer on scene! God bless him always!
Looks like a perfect case of over loading.
For Sure!
First Deputy Commissioner Jo Pfeifer 16:00 . First Battalion Chief from 9/11 in WTC.
YUP
WOW!! Joseph Pfeifer the LEGEND himself
Indeed quite rare seeing him I thought he retired from FDNY, Back in 2018.
@@james.9831 He did but came out of retirement to be the Deputy Fire Commissioner
THX
great footage. what are you using to record?
iPhone 14 Pro Max
Very nice!
Thanks
Great job, great audio
Thanks
@@SkylerFire you guys are gonna make me start fire buffing again
@@georgecribbs6527 keep the history alive!
@@SkylerFire I have a old You Tube page--George Cribbs-- Not active just old footage ( its the one with the firefighters in the pic)
TorGeorge
Why does it look the roof wasn't built for parking vehicles on it but the building was turned into a parking lot anyways ?
It wasn’t
Good job.
Thanks!
10-60. Any time you hear that FDNY code, it’s going to be a long day.
For sure!
indeed, walk in the park compared to the 10-60 initially radio'd by Lt. Atlas from Engine 10, 22 years ago.
............and THIS is one of the main reasons why I take the train to Manhattan and the subways to get to my destination.
Smh
I hope no one was killed or hurt
On a lighter note, that Dalmatian robot dog is awesome! What an amazing asset/tool to have so that no FF's have to take the risk of getting eyes on potential victims and/or fire not visible from a safe area.
sending a robo-dalmatian to do robo-bloodhound's job.
Thanks for watching
Was that building always a parking garage? Was it an office or apartment structure converted to a garage? And cars from the late 40’s to mid 70’s weighed 4-6k lbs all day long. Structure was just too old and corroded and finally gave way in my opinion.
CHIEF PFEIFER WOW ! IST CALLER ON 9/11 WHEN JET HIT NORTH TOWER
YUP
@@SkylerFire GOOD MAN HE IS- ENGINE 7
Yes! I remember him from this fantastic film done by those two French guys!
Did you get any shots of the bucket of truck one? I think I know one of the Firefighters, James Neary
Whatever is in the video!
Can you tell me if Ann Street is in the 1st Precinct area??
Yes
Wow they look more like sardine in can, than SUVs on parking ramp.
For sure!
Building was built 1925 so if not kept up to code this was diffently going to happen. God bless to all dealing with this.
Thanks for watching
God bless the fdny.and also ladder 15.was my brother ladder. Until sept 11.was killed. God rest his soul.patty sumner
Skyler rescue 2 was at the scene of the collapse
Yea
was there other people trying to get their cars out at that time? This whole thing is horrible. 😲
Only workers were trapped and only 1 worker died. No civilians inside
Scary 😨
For sure
Its good to see Joe Pfeifer back in some turnout gear
Great catch! Pfeifer is an incredible, true hero!
HA
16:00 is that Chief Pfeifer on the right?
Yes
Chief Phifper!
Yup
Too many cars being parked or just a very old building..
To many cars of course!
you must of been up there with majistrum
I brought him up there
Waa the collapse unit fire 🔥 truck created after 9/11?
They had 1 Unit during 9/11 now each rescue has one since 2005
Instead of all those cops just standing around, they need to move all those civilians out of the area. There's hardly any room for emergency personnel as it is...
Tight streets
What a shame that they have to put padlocks on the compartments .
If your talking about the Collapse Rescue that’s because it has a lot of expensive equipment on it.
@@SkylerFire I know that.
Another great job Skyler
Thanks
All those poor YUPPIE SUVs Cookie cutter cars .
