Good day Godfather founding father of our deep rich Jamaican culture call Reggae music.. the runi is coming bbe, the rain is coming now ,,now now,, my deepest Respect for your great to build our aspired music.
To get my point home to you how many of all these Jamaican artists did Chris Blackwell help to get establish and put onto the international stage, Dennis Brown, Ras Michael, Slim Smith, Delroy Wilson, Beres Hammond, Stranger Cole, Ken Boothe, Alton Ellis, Jimmy London, Bob Andy, Johnny Clarke, John Holt, Justin Hinds, Johnny Osbourne,Desmond Dekker, Burning Spear, Errol Dunkley, Phyllis Dillon,Judy Mowatt, Marcia Griffiths, Nicky Thomas, Larry Marshall, The Cables, Leroy Sibbles and the Heptones, Culture Joseph Hill, YabbyYou, Max Romeo, Fred Locks, Jimmy Cliff, Jamesken parker, Freddie McKay, The Meditations, The Melodians The Mighty Diamonds,The Abyssinians,Toots and the Maytals,Pat-Kelly,The Wailing Souls. It was Arthur "Duke" Reid, Sir Coxsone" Dodd, King Tubby these man did the hard work and that is where credit is due do not get me wrong yes Chris Blackwell play a part in helping to setup and establish reggae music but forerunners before Chris Blackwell came into the reggae music industry Is Arthur "Duke" Reid, Sir Coxsone" Dodd, King Tubby thanks to these men Jamaica have reggae music And to tell you the really truth Bob Marley start out long before Chris Blackwell got involved in reggae music yes Chris Blackwell did help to put Bob Marley on the international stage I am a person that do not like deception from the real truth and black people are so fool and stupid they’re very quick to give praise to a person when he is white because the majority of black people are suffering from inferiority complex.
We should put things in the right context and people should stop falsify things, a lot of people have not heard about Tom The Great Sebastian credits and respect ✊ must be pay to Tom The Great Sebastian for helping to set the foundation of reggae music Most would agree that it all began with one man - Tom The Great Sebastian in the early Fifties . He'd play to ... Duke Reid The Trojan; Coxsone Dodd's Downbeat; Prince Buster's Voice of the People. Tom Wong, half Chinese Jamaican and half African Jamaican,[6] owned a hardware store where he played music and got started in the music business by taking his equipment out to parties. He was "widely regarded as the leading sound system of his day," and helped popularize dancehall music and sound system dance, aided in no small part by powerful amplifiers built by fellow DJ Hedley Jones;[7] in addition to the equipment, his musical selections (many imported directly from the United States) and his originality as a DJ have been credited for his success.[1] Tom played rhythm and blues loved by the "ghetto folk" and music intended to attract a more upper-class audience, such as merengue and calypso.[8] There are rumors that Duke Reid, a competing sound system operator who started four years after Tom and is credited with bringing gangland-style tactics to dancehall,[9] drove Tom out of the downtown area of Kingston using ruffians from the Brick-O-Wall slum, but Duke Vin insists that Duke and Tom were friends and that Duke's followers never bothered Tom. The closest they came to a sound clash was a set of competing parties in adjacent yards; they never went head-to-head.[8] Tom did, however, move away from the violence of the downtown area[9] to the Silver Slipper club in the more upscale Cross Roads area,[8] a move which did not harm him financially.[10] Tom the Great Sebastian was the most popular of the first generation of sound systems until the mid-1950s when the "big three" of sound systems rose to popularity: Coxsone Dodd's Downbeat, Duke Reid's The Trojans, and King Edward's Giant.[2] Tom Wong committed suicide in 1971,[6] after his death, the sound system was continued by Lou Gooden, who changed its name to Metromedia, after a record label.[11] In 1976 it was sold again to Haidan "Jimmy Metro" James.[12] Metromedia became one of the most popular sounds of the 1980s, featuring the deejay Peter Metro and selector Sky Juice, the sound system still operates from its Woodford Park base.[12] Tom the Great Sebastian was an early Jamaican sound system started by Tom Wong in 1950,[1] named for a trapeze performer[2] in Barnum and Bailey's circus.[3] The group has been called "the all-time giant of sound systems"[1] and helped launch several notable artists. Count Matchuki is generally credited as Tom's first deejay,[3] before he joined Coxsone Dodd, and Duke Vin was one of Tom's selectors.[3][4] The sound was also backed by Prince Buster,[5] it was later known as Metromedia.
Yes do not misinterpret my point of view Bob Marley did a lot of great things for reggae music and he help to establish reggae music which I am truly grateful for I have a big problem when the media portray Bob Marley as the only person that establish reggae music and discard and undermine all the rest of great reggae artists that contribute to the development of reggae music look at the great Dennis Brown when you ask people like singer and musicians about reggae music you here them mention the name Dennis Brown along with Bob Marley why give Dennis Brown the title of crown prince and not the title of the king of reggae music that is why I cannot take the hypocrisy of people not talking the truth I do not have a problem with Bob Marley and his music I love Bob Marley music of reality and truth Dennis Emmanuel Brown Real Authentic Sound. During his prolific career, which began in the late 1960s when he was aged eleven, he recorded more than 75 albums and was one of the major stars of lovers rock, a subgenre of reggae.and also roots and culture and reality You also have Slim Smith and Delroy Wilson two of the biggest name artist in Jamaican reggae music and they did not get enough credit for also helping to establish reggae music. There is a big problem with people that control the world media there is bias way in how they project events.Dennis Brown have the same positive lyrical content as Bob Marley the only different is Bob Marley had Chris Blackwell the big record producer in his camp that made a big difference that gave Bob Marley the edge over every one else I love to hear the truth so people should talk the truth I do not suffer from inferiority complex and I am not bias in my views
There were artists like Laurel Aitkins,Count Prince Miller,Jackie Edwards,Desmond Deckker,Jimmy Cliff,Millie Small,Theophilus Beckford, Prince Buster,Stranger Cole and more who were carrying the torch before Bob and Chris Blackwell.
I couldn’t agree more. Jamaica had so many great artists the likes of Desmond Dekker, Jimmy Cliff, the Great Burning Spear, Jackie Mittoo, Derrick Morgan, Justin Hinds, Laurel Aitken, Pat Kelly and many others.
A lot of shortsighted people go on like that it was just only Bob Marley and Chris Blackwell that establish and develop reggae music that concept and idea is totally wrong and misguided That kind of negative concept is only influence by white people black people never get credited for the hard work that they do 🎵 yes I do not deny or disagree that Bob Marley play a big significant part in spreading reggae music and helping to establish reggae all over the world, I give Bob Marley his props and praise as the king of reggae music along with Dennis Brown,You should also remember in those days that the artist or singer was not really getting a lot of money they was just very peaceful people that just love music and all the artists or singer in those days had peace and unity among them self a part of reggae music came from America blues music R&B or Rhythm and Blues music Bob Marley cited Brown as his favourite singer,[1] dubbing him "The Crown Prince of Reggae", I must get this point straight across to you Dennis Brown is not the prince of reggae music he is the king of Jamaican reggae music you have a lot hypocrisy with blinded people that see colour before talent, I put Dennis Brown in the same category as Bob Marley you should pay a man his rightful dues so why undermine Dennis Brown as one of the king of reggae music. First you have the Jamaican Mento music from the Jamaican country side and then after you have the fast uptempo ska music, that is where reggae music originally come from no one single person did not establish reggae music Reggae music take years and years of dedication to develop and evolve into a strong powerful force it is not a over night thing the foundation of reggae music all the people that build and shape reggae music into what it is today Dennis Brown, Bob Marley, Ras Michael, Slim Smith, Delroy Wilson, Beres Hammond, Stranger Cole, Ken Boothe, Alton Ellis, Jimmy London, Bob Andy, Johnny Clarke, John Holt, Justin Hinds, Johnny Osbourne,Desmond Dekker, Burning Spear, Errol Dunkley, Phyllis Dillon,Judy Mowatt, Marcia Griffiths, Nicky Thomas, Larry Marshall, The Cables, Leroy Sibbles and the Heptones, Culture Joseph Hill, YabbyYou, Max Romeo, Fred Locks, Jimmy Cliff, Jamesken parker, Freddie McKay, The Meditations, The Melodians The Mighty Diamonds,The Abyssinians,Toots and the Maytals,Pat-Kelly,The Wailing Souls. You have as Disc Jockey or deejay Count Machuki, King Stitt, Sir Lord Comic,Daddy U Roy, Big Youth. You have as producer and promoter of reggae music the people that gives reggae music a distinctive sound Tom the Great Sebastian, Duke Reid, Coxsone Dodd,Lee "Scratch" Perry, King Tubby and then you have the sound system that spread the music Dickie Wong's sound system (originally called Doctor Dickies later changed to Dickies Dynamic) Sir George the Atomic sound system, Sir Coxsone Dodds, Kilimanjaro, King Jammy, King Tubby, King Edward the Giants sound system, Jah wise Tippa Tone sound system. Not forgetting the Rasta influence in reggae music Count Ossie or Oswald Williams. I love to hear the truth so people should talk the truth and cause it what it may I do not suffer from inferiority complex.
Am listening to Ken Boothe interview but I guess he is too young to know, some of the things.I grew up seeing people useto used grammar phone to play music,it was a little changer which.Where people useto winning a angle, then they put on the records to play. But before that my uncle is much more older than Prince Buster, Alton Ellis, Derrick Morgan also than coxen, and what they were playing mento with rumba box, banjo, also guitar , also other instruments to make it nice.Music is from slavery days, anywhere in Jamaica you goes it is the same thing almost.Because everybody coming from slavery, and anything that black people is doing they always sing. One of the best time you could ever have as a boy grewing up,is when someone dead and they are digging the grave. When two people into the grave digging, that is where you would different songs singing.Certain sounds man would be making with their mouths, maybe he never have the access to visit the rual areas.Like man like Larry Marshall, Justin Hinds, Derrick Morgan, they are long time singers from in early 1960s especially Derrick Morgan who sang the song for the Jamaica Independence in 1962 forward March,I was in elementary school in those it was called.Long time before Primary also all age school came about 1965/66.But Ken Boothe is still one of my singer , the song I really love is everything I own.He is a very good singer nice vocal, also good lyrics.Keep up the good works Kenneth Boothe, long life health and strength.
Mark Watson you sound like you are one of the type of bully people, but you don't know me this does not concerning you.It is about Ken Boothe but it sounds like you are hurted, about what I said.I was going to tell you to go suck, but I rather not to say.But what I does notice as of late since You Tube came in,there are several Jamaicans coming on it posing on it.As either bad man or bad woman, but as far as I concerned. All bad things is no good, and all bad man either at May Pen cemetery or at general penitentiary,or St Catherine prison.
