I believe you put your tree tube on upside down. The more solid area is for protecting the tree trunk as you spray herbicide and the perforation goes up higher for the tree to have air flow. Love the chestnuts. They're great for your property.
We've been growing chestnuts in Missouri for about 35 years now, and I once worked alongside an avid bow hunter who asked if I would give him some seed nuts. Just for fun, I brought him in some of my grafted "Black Satin" Chinese chestnuts. They were twice the size he was expecting and the latest dropping nuts on the farm.
@@yedidyah-jedshlomoh1533 nah he's saying bow hunting is bullcrap. It's cruel, use a gun and put the animal down quick instead of letting it suffer via an arrow, ya dingus.
Be sure to use plenty of compost and mulch, it'll help with holding moisture for longer. It works in Africa, it can work in whatever state you may be living in.
Normally you would want to make sure the larger solid part of the tree tube is on the bottom, and perforations on the top. If your looking for tree tubes feel free to checkout miracletreetube.com.
Loads of misinformation in here, boys. Humans can eat acorns and chestnuts can contain tannin :D both need to be boiled and shouldn't be eaten 'raw', however. White oaks are the best acorns for human consumption.

Thank you! Helping wildlife with food. wait, you lost me at bow season
I bet you lick your fingers after eating chicken. And yet you balk at actually being responsible for harvesting the chicken.

The deer get enough pumpkins and squash they don’t need my chestnuts too
will they grow in the south???
Yes, they're hardy to zone 9
Some bad info here. If you have a big root at the bottom DON'T cut it off. Chestnuts have taproots and they don't regrow when cut.
Why would you plant a lock of hair for deer?
