I wore a couple different ones on and off for a little while, but a good friend steered me from those to a Sub homage (Steinhart) as a next step. @Matt Man that's my point the only person your lying is to yourself and you have something on your wrist that is worthless if your buying a watch just for the time buy something you can afford there's no reason to fake it
@Matt Man one other thing I have to say is I remember when I was like 19 I bought a fake Rolex and I wore it thinking how good it was because I knew nothing but the truth is no matter how good of a fake it is it's very easy to tell now that I have a real watch collection with various Rolex models as well as Vacheron, A Lange and sohne and Patek and some other less expensive ones. Once you own them and handle them enough you can tell a fake Rolex just by holding it feeling the bezel and the finishing it really doesn't take an expert once you know what the real thing feels like. There are some super clones I've seen of submariners that cost $2,000-$3,000 that are pretty close but once you look at the movement it's easy to tell it's a fake and at that point, if you're spending thousands of dollars for a fake watch, might as well buy a real one. or they just don't care and like the look of it but don't feel like spending the money on an actual watch 🤷🏻♂️ like i understand people's disdain for fake watches but fuck it man some ppl just don't care
@@johnzo7948 This is pretty much it. There's a limit to the amount of money that people want to put on their wrist. Also, 99.9999% of people won't know or care it's a fake watch, so...who cares? There are plenty of not-fake, actually cool watches, but you need to care enough about watches to seek those out, and most people just...don't.
The whole ‘fake watch’, why would you is an interesting topic in itself. For example in the UK, it is near on impossible to even get yourself onto an AD waiting list for a SS Rolex, never mind actually buy one at retail, which leaves you at the mercy of the grey market at exorbitant prices. ADs prioritise ‘loyal’ customers, many of whom flip the watches as soon as they get them and there continues the cycle. Why is it so hard to actually hand over your money to ADs in order to buy the genuine article? Sort that out and you’ll reduce the interest in fake Rolex watches especially!
Regarding Pitti Uomo, one slight correction - its not just a fashion party, although it seems that way the way its portrayed in the press, but a menswear and textile trade show - just like Baselworld for watches
never heard of or seen a fake Rolex that has quartz movement. none, none that you wouldn't notice it says RQLEX on and have yellow gold.. so if you didn't notice the case issues, find it hard to believe it had a quartz movement, even Wish do com ones have real movements, not a fan of replicas, but know the market well
The thing is, if it ticked that's a $20 watch, and if he thought he could fool you he knows absolutely nothing about watches. No one is spotting a good fake watch on someone's wrist (presuming its steel, gold fakes tend to stand out) You may have a hunch that the guy who looks like he dresses in Primark probably doesn't own a Kermit Sub, but that's all.
In my country richer folk tend to buy the original piece and then buy a super clone to wear outside. It's just too dangerous to wear rolex because of how recognizable the watches are sadly.
Which country are you in? Would someone still rob you for a fake in any case, and you risk dying over a fake watch? I have a friend that lives in London and he basically never wears his Rolex - it’s a safe queen, and just wears his Casio G-Shock for fear of being robbed.
@@Englishman_in_Taipei I live in Mexico. I think you do make a valid point though. I'd personally never wear something that expensive somewhere unsafe for the same reason. I guess these owners are ready to inmediatly give the fake and not risk getting hurt after being mugged.
@@Englishman_in_Taipei we usually take measures to give away stuff fast. Robbers don't want to harm you and they want to go away fast. I personally keep a second wallet with some cash near the cupholder to my right and use an older phone as an MP3. Robberies here commonly take place inside your own car while commuting to places so when they happen I'm prepared to just grab that second wallet which doesn't have my ID or credit card and give away the old phone and GTFO lol. It sucks but you can avoid most stuff by being understated and traveling in groups usually.
I caught the smaller cases on the Pity shots. It is interesting about the limited brand choices. I think they may want to feature the main garments, with less emphasis on the accessories as a matter of sartorial balance. I have tiny wrists, so I enjoyed seeing that.
There are many people wearing fake Rolex. Invicta has it engraved on the side of the watch. But if you are going to wear a fake wear a good fake. There are $1000 fakes you could not tell. People are being robbed of Rolex watches in Los Angeles, New York Paris and London. What would rather loose $20,000 Rolex or a $1000 fake? I try to fly under the radar with vintage Omega. But one of my Omegas is a 1949 18k Rose gold black faced Omega. It looks way over the top. So I wear this watch less. The new Omega Tresor in 18k looks similar and it is $16,000. So now I have two toned blue Invicta . With blue jeans and casual clothing it looks nice. It is Quartz and keeps very accurate time with a Seiko movement. I wonder how many times does a watch thief gets a phony watch. Can you imagine what he thinks he got fooled!
Us watch guys don’t like or get the fakery . However the general public just don’t care enough about watches they just don’t care and generally aren’t bothered about it viewing it as inconsequential.. In fact I have found that the few guys who I’ve spoken to will openly tell you it’s fake and usually qualify their choice by saying that they would never spend huge money on a watch. However the guys who try and pass of a faker as genuine are embarrassing on another level .
I've never had a fake watch, but when I first started collecting I discovered the whole seiko-modding community and had a $200 SRPE modded to look like a Rolex Explorer. Then one day I actually met a guy who was wearing a real Rolex Explorer (thankfully I wasn't wearing my modded Seiko) but I was cringing over just the thought of had I been when I met that guy... that was enough for me to make that watch disappear in my closet somewhere lol.
The average net worth of Everest summit hopefuls is likely very high (considering the price tag for an expedition)…so I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that the Chin limited edition had sold out in one day.
Christian. On tonight’s livestream Archie Luxury showed off a strap from your shop. He admits to not knowing Theo or Harris, but did give Christian a shout out.
Jimmy Chin is one of the most influential photographer/ filmmakers alive today. He’s the reason I got into mountain climbing and climbing photography. I’d buy a $100,000 jimmy Chin watch before a $100 space jam watch.
This guy prob bought 100 dollar replica. The 400-500 usd sub replica are damn good that there is no way you can tell by just looking at it. I understand the argument of not buying replica and I respect it, but the gist of this story is rather the guy bought a cheap poorly made replica. If he bought a 500 one, most likely you wouldn’t know.
As someone that went down the replica watch rabbit hole for awhile I'm calling bullshit on this story. Even the cheapest reps have a 2813 movement in them and don't tick like a quartz. A quartz sub rep would be so obvious that you couldn't pull it off from 100ft away. Now if you want to have fun look at a 300 sub rep and I bet most of your watch buddies couldn't tell unless they had a loupe or handled a rolex everyday. I know lots of wealthy people that buy reps to try out watches before actually investing in them . And seriously the only time someone cares to look at my watch is when I'm at a redbar meetup with other watch nerds. But seriously its super hard to find a fake that says rolex on it that has a quartz movement and it would look like a toy at that price point. I have since moved on to buying real pieces that cost a lot of money but it sure was nice trying a watch for 200 bucks for a month and really deciding if I liked it rather than spend 10k and lose my butt trading it in. Also I understand that making fake items is wrong and I don't like to condone it but I also don't live in a country with a billion people and make 10 cents a day. I'm sure if you lived in China and got an offer to work in a fake watch factory because you could make 5 dollars a day you would risk it to provide to your family.
Something similar happened to me at a restaurant in regards to someone wearing a fake watch. I was sitting at the bar eating dinner and the shimmer of what looked like an older steel-bezel Daytona worn by the person a couple chairs down caught my eye. I said "nice Daytona, is that a zenith movement?" he said thanks and didn't answer my question about the movement; he gave off the impression he did not want to talk watches. As he got up to leave, he placed his hand on the back of the chair, which allowed me to get a full view of the dial. The "chronograph" was running, both pushers were screwed down and the hands of the subdial were facing all different directions.
You’re not a fuckin detective bro, lol. Maybe he knew he told his wife he’d be back in an hour so he started the chrono and he screwed the pusher down so he wouldn’t accidentally stop it. Don’t be a judgemental asshole and don’t bother strangers about their watches.
I know a couple of people who wear fake rolex's who can definitely afford real ones. and have real watches from other brands. They will both happily tell you they're fake and chat watches with you (not hugely knowledgable but they get it). They have a lot of respect for real watches and don't disparage them as a waste of money etc like some do. The thing is, they would only do this with Rolex, and never with any other brand. With Rolex the vast majority of their value is their brand, and everyone is going to assume it's fake anyway, so f*ck it.
The reality is, in London, you’ll lose an arm or get seriously beat by watch thief gangs for a Rolex, Patek etc. now imagine that watch was a fake. Not worth it.
Always loved the look of Hamilton watches. Bought a railroad. Had business dinner with a partner and his business partner. Guy said oh you got Seiko or some shit and went on all night talking about his Rolex collection and showing me pics. Towards the end his partner just goes. They are all fake. And his full of shit. Pissed my self laughing. Some people like to flex with fake stuff. My ones might be cheap. But everyone has a genuine story behind it. Every scratch every ding. What's the shirt Christians got on? Love the colour on it.
Jimmy Chin is great, and AWESOME STORY. He valued the prestige more than the authenticity. Where someone else's opinions 9/10 matter more than his own (knowing its fake)
I find the topic of fake luxury watches fascinating. It's now got to a new level with superclones which sometimes can fool experts, dealers and maybe even ADs. What I still can't get: why spend $500, $600 or more when for that kind of money can buy amazing watches from real watchmakers with heritage and history.
I found out that for five years, I was wearing a fake Submariner, but I paid for a real one. Apparently, the company ziarex makes those mega clones. I tried to find my dealer, but he is gone. I did research, and they have a whole section of watches. They
I need to confess: end of high school / first year of uni I went a couple of times to China and did come back with some fakes… honestly I loved watches and never thought I could ever afford a crazy time or a sub so, in a way, in honor I bought them… never kept it a secret they were fakes… and actually felt embarrassed if anyone slightly seemed to think they were real to the point I would mention it was fake obviously cause it was so expensive and I would have never afford…. So for me they were like buying a Ferrari toy. Growing up they’ve all ended in the trash when the real ones came in: so proud… no Ferrari however 😂. So I think there’s no excuse to “fake” you own a watch but a love tribute to something you are passionate about but think you’ll never afford I would understand… I mean it’s not a real Picasso hanging in my living room but people are fine with that. I feel better now 😂
I do want to offer a more differentiating perspective on replicas. Keep in mind that English is not my native language. My background:I own some genuine watches: Seiko, Tissot, Junghans Max Bill, the most recent Rolex OP, Casio, Sinn. And I even own some hommage watches (like a blend of OP & Explorer with a jubilee and a Speedmaster hommage). But I also own a handful of high level replicas. Those are for my own enjoyment only. I will never own a genuine DayDate, no chance I can afford it. But I love the 36 mm with the presidential bracelet, the hidden clasp and so on. So I got a steel replica 2 years back. It has a 28000 bph movement which can be serviced by any watchmaker ever (ETA clone). I enjoy it and everyone who could recognize the watch would know that in no way I paid 40k for a watch. So if someone would recognize the watch, usually no one does, I would immediately hand it over, saying it was a replica, because deceiving is not my intention. Second example: I got the A. Lange Saxonia thin with the star sky, it cost me like 200 $ with a Miyota 9015. Is it the real thing? No! I wear it during Christmas and New Years, because it fits the occasion. There is no one around I could fool. Meeting with former school mates I will most likely go for my Seiko 5, the F91W or maybe the Max Bill, if I feel the need to show my success in my career. But honestly I do not feel the need to show success with watches. I have two healthy children, a loving wife and a fulfilling job that pays the bills, no need to fake anything. For me it is like buying a very well made print of an expensive painting I adore. I will not buy the real thing, will not and cannot. But I like the experience of this piece of art. But I would neither invite people to my home acting like that was a real Picasso nor try to show wealth I do not possess. You do not need to share my perspective but assuming wearing fakes to fool others is a given, just does not cut it. I can put a big Mona Lisa print in my living room without fooling anyone, it would be so blatantly obvious that it is indeed not the genuine painting that it does not even need to be commented on. One thing you need to understand about highend replicas (250-500$): these are well made watches. They got 4 Hz movements (ETA clones or Miyotas), good finishing and great feel of quality. Feel free to reach out if you are interested in anything else.
Who cares if the watch is fake? I guess I get it if the person wearing it is bragging, but honestly the only people who should care are the vendors/manufacturers. It's outdated tech, most of the pieces are mass produced with ludicrous margins & not unique pieces of art, but my biggest gripe, it's another fake status symbol. I love watches, I buy brands I like & admittedly have purchased a few Grand Seikos, but good luck catching me dropping 30k on a steel case AP....even if they are gorgeous 😅 Let people appreciate the design & unless they are trying to claim its authentic or sell it as such just stay in your lane.
Christian. Great content on your channel. Learned a lot. Could you do a review of a watch for us. I think it is called the “Sector Dial” Jaeger? The basic one. Master control. I saw a One review a while back and I thought it was the best dress watch I’ve ever seen. I want to get one but I haven’t been able to find one. Would love your expert opinion on this one. Thanks
oh i just came here to maybe explain a bit about why replicas can be ok or the mindset behind, in general very very general people dont care about what watch are you wearing, so why not wear a replica for walk with the dog, supermarket, i understand there are places like NYC or LA where definitely i will wear my genuine watches but in texas, as a statement piece that i wear once in a while, or for mundane things for my amusement, not for impress i dont think would matter if is a genuine or replica, also i do agree, dont try to make it look like is genuine, own it! if is a replica is not a big deal as if is genuine either its not a big deal! sorry about my shitty english lol
I am of the $10 dollar timex vs $100 fake Rolex mindset. Still, Rolex continues to be astronomically expensive and eliminates a large percentage of their market with their heightened prices, which may either drive people to other brands or to fakes. People may so badly want the look that they’re willing to fake it until they make it. Admittedly, I went down the rabbit hole of trying to find the best replica of a ceramic Pepsi with a jubilee because that’s the only modern Rolex I would genuinely buy…but then I read comments talking about weight differential, movement, and how easily susceptible it was to water damage and I said fk it this just cheapens the experience and achievement of owning a timepiece like this.
Just get a steinhart, awesome quality good very good movement, looks exactly the same from 3 feet away, but you don't have to pretend it's a real Rolex, just a homage, but a respectable one
@@jxstr Next time I travel to Europe I'll probably get one, it's kinda hard to get them here in Brasil at least at retail price or close to it, but that might take a while with the pandemy, Rolex is just no worth the money, at least not the new ones, even if they are great.
I hate it when people buy replicas, thinking they are original, and end up losing their money. Thats why mega-clone sellers like ziarex need to be stopped.
Bought a fake once, i wasn't in to watches that much at the time so still learning what i liked and what fitted me so unsure between the rolex seadweller and the orange planer Ocean i bought a fake orange planet ocean.. After a week wearing it in private time i kinda got tired of it 🤷🏻♂️ it felt too loud and so i went and bought the Rolex.... 6 years later and a few nice watches later i than bought the original orange omega too 🤣 i was in need of a colourful nice summer watch...🤣🤣

So yes I can afford Rolex but I refuse to pay extra money to get overhyped Rolex. Since Rolex don’t want to sell their watch to customer so I’m buying fake Rolex to hurt them. I hope people will stop buying Rolex so they can’t play this game anymore
Wearing a fake says a lot about you as a person. You are supporting blatantly illegal activity and child labor. Act your wage and if you cannot afford a Rolex then buy something legit and in your budget.
In the end, a new era of watches has come. Some illegal company from EU started making mega clones called ziarex. Basically, what they are doing is buying original parts from workers in Rolex who flag that part as damaged and sell them. But thats not the
Not everyone can afford a nautilus for example, but they really enjoy the style of the watch and would rather see that watch on thier wrist, than a timex and I’m sure the fake nautilus is better quality , for example allegedly lol, but that’s an awkward situation man 😂😂😂
I never understood the whole fake watch crap. There are affordable watches out there from great brands. Speaking of the Rolex Daytona it be nice if Tudor re released the Tudor big block chronograph with the cyclops date
ELEGANCE IS NOT A FUNCTION OF ACCESSORIES OR CLOTHING. A TRULY ELEGANT PERSON WILL LOOK CONFIDENT AND COMFORTABLE WHILE WEARING A BRIONI TUXEDO OR JEAN'S AND A WELL FITTING T SHIRT. YOU WEAR THE WATCH IT DOESNT WEAR YOU. NUFF SAID.
Correct, specifically a BAPEX. They are well known to pay hommage to design icons like the AF1s, the Superstars and of course Rolex watches like the Sub or the Daytona.
We need to stop criminals like ziarex from selling mega-clone replica watches because selling mega-clone replicas with the same serial number as the original watch is illegal.
I think some people love the look of a certain Rolex, know they cannot get it at least for a very long time but can buy a super clone and not care because they like the watch. Not everyone is trying to make a statement with how people judge their looks
Agree. Some people just like the look of a watch and want that, without caring that it’s a copy, likely with a poor quality movement. The issue for many is when a fake is claimed to be real…
When you say super clone, it better be Swiss-made. Only Ziarex delivers that level of perfection.

like i understand people's disdain for fake watches but fuck it man some ppl just don't care
Let's be honest: budget is absolutely a barrier to entry.
I love you guys, you always bring a smile to my face, great chemistry! 😁
Jimmy Chin is my absolute hero!!! - Still not the watch for me (maybe in 38mm), but the dude is amazing.
I would respect the guy with a timex Marlin, G-shock, and have a conversation about those than to see a quartz fake Rolex.
Wearing a Timex intentionally shows a kind of honesty, and I love that.
Most people wearing “real” Rolex watches are also fake
@@pous6311 that makes sense. I just hope I’d have time to pass over the fake, before myself or the people I’m with are hurt.
@@pous6311 I’m sorry to hear that you have to prepared like this.
Oh man that fake watch story...painful for that guy
I would rather be seen with an iWatch or my beater Casio Mudmaster than a fake Rolex!
That Space Jam watch is wild, even the band is great.
For sure, the texture on the band suits it perfectly.
It is
Quartz and keeps very accurate time with a Seiko movement.
Hahahah I love that man
Jimmy Chin is one of the most influential photographer/ filmmakers alive today. He’s the reason I got into mountain climbing and climbing photography. I’d buy a $100,000 jimmy Chin watch before a $100 space jam watch.
5:47 It's 45mm but there's no lugs, so it's still wearable
Exactly. That’s why it looks small on that wrist, which is probably a 7”?
What is the best one watch collection? Versatile, durable and still somewhat elegant.
An Oris Aquis will serve you well as a single watch.
Omega Aqua Terra, perhaps?
A Rolex Dj36 best 1 watch collection.
To judge a person on their watch is stupid. And to fake it especially wrt buying fakes etc. is perhaps stupider.
Hey Christian, does wearing vintage watches that frequently turn you a lovely shade of George Hamilton over time? 😂😂😂
@Matt Man Wrong.
Where the hell is Anna?!? Bring her back!
That bar story is beautiful...
Wearing a fake Rolex is like a fat person trying to wear skinny jeans to look fit.
These watch channel got me verliebt.
Nice video guys 😃
Who cares if the watch is fake? I guess I get it if the person wearing it is bragging, but honestly the only people who should care are the vendors/manufacturers.
It's outdated tech, most of the pieces are mass produced with ludicrous margins & not unique pieces of art, but my biggest gripe, it's another fake status symbol.
I love watches, I buy brands I like & admittedly have purchased a few Grand Seikos, but good luck catching me dropping 30k on a steel case AP....even if they are gorgeous 😅
Let people appreciate the design & unless they are trying to claim its authentic or sell it as such just stay in your lane.
Thanks

Forget the watch talk, I need that shirt!
If he had a Seiko on, it would have been like, nice Seiko! End of story and still respect!
oh i just came here to maybe explain a bit about why replicas can be ok or the mindset behind, in general very very general people dont care about what watch are you wearing, so why not wear a replica for walk with the dog, supermarket, i understand there are places like NYC or LA where definitely i will wear my genuine watches but in texas, as a statement piece that i wear once in a while, or for mundane things for my amusement, not for impress i dont think would matter if is a genuine or replica, also i do agree, dont try to make it look like is genuine, own it! if is a replica is not a big deal as if is genuine either its not a big deal! sorry about my shitty english lol
Christian, who makes those glasses? Oliver Peoples?

Love your channel guys! Just putting this out there, are you sure you should be talking about a project you’re working on for Omega before it’s out?
Movies and shows nearly always use fake/replicas. Plain simple. Not every movie is 007 with sponsor's.
There are watches with the same serial numbers as the originals, and only one company, called ziarex, sells them.
The only thing I don't like about fake watches is it supports criminals
This exact setup is the GMM setup… I Fucking love it.
