William II's left arm was congenitally disabled, short and unable to straighten ,He cleverly arranged a sword as a decoration, so that he could put his left arm on it, looking natural and mighty
I guess they ran out of money, because a lot those high ranking officers you see with the Kaiser would have their medals on their uniforms as well as the soldiers standing at attention.
Not so sure about that. Judging by the damaged buildings in the background they were fairly close to the Front, where it was unwise for officers to be too easily identified (for snipers).

How it's named the second marching song in the scene? The one playing while Wilhelm inspects the Regiment giving medals. If useful for others, the first one is the Preußischer Präsentiermarsch
You ever wondered where the Russians picked up goose stepping from? Plus, from what I've seen of the Russians, the hurrah is longer and more drawn out, at least for more formal parades, instead of the quick succession here.
Hoera is not exclusive to Russia, here in Flanders and Holland it is shouted during celebrations such as birthdays, usually at the end of a birthday song we say " Hip hip hoera!" like 3 times.
Monarchie ist das gegenteil von stolz. Es ist feige untergebenheit. Die männer mit stolz waren diejenigen, die den Grundstein für die Weimarer Republik gelegt haben.
This scene depicts a classic example of the Kaiser's affection with his army. His first speech as German emperor was not adressed to the people, but to the army: "We belong to each other; I am the army. We were born for each other, and will cleave indissolubly to each other."
Kaiser Wilhelm was an arrogant sack of shit who thought of himself as a demi god and many years later would write a letter to Hitler with the words "Congratulations on your victory with MY soldiers. " arrogance beyond imagination
@The Desert Fox Yea no, they fought because they were hateful. And hitler needed someone to blame for their countries fall. I have read that some real soldiers back then got short changed by their chain of command to awards of valor for those who are less worthy. Honestly I have seen this during peace time and in war. The US Military is very guilty of this especially the Bronze Star. The Bronze Star was meant for valor in combat in the old days like Vietnam and before. During Iraq and Afghanistan Era it was given to certain E-6 and above for not fucking up or making it through their one year tour. The Bronze Star with V device were awarded to all soldiers that really had balls to fight in combat and get wounded. The US Military have really downgraded the Bronze Star as an end of tour award as to what it was really intended to be to recognize valiant effort in real combat. Back then and maybe now it has been recognized as being an administrative award for not messing up. The guys who on the lower level below E-5 usually got awarded with the V for valor because they really did bad ass shit in combat. My Dad got 3 Bronze Stars with valor in Korea for killing North Koreans and Communist Chinese along with Purple Hearts too. The US Military has become more bureaucratic than merit based in awards especially when it comes to soldiers who truly deserve on what they truly did in combat.

William II's left arm was congenitally disabled, short and unable to straighten
,He cleverly arranged a sword as a decoration, so that he could put his left arm on it, looking natural and mighty
I saw in house Doorn (his last residence) that the emperor had a fork with a knife on the back. He was always the first to finish eating steak.
I guess they ran out of money, because a lot those high ranking officers you see with the Kaiser would have their medals on their uniforms as well as the soldiers standing at attention.
it qas a tv movie
and an impressive one
Not so sure about that. Judging by the damaged buildings in the background they were fairly close to the Front, where it was unwise for officers to be too easily identified (for snipers).
And John Boy Walton, too.
It was a TV movie so it didn't have much of a budget but it is still a really good movie if you can look past the small things

Not one of those spiked helmets has its metal "spine" down the back of the helmet crown, and the chin scale chinstraps are also wrong !?!?!? Did the costumers only look at pictures that showed these helmets from the front ?
*GREAT NEWS*! They've just found out that the old-style helmets are actually safer (and guard against brain injury) better than modern ones! Read this: www.npr.org/2020/02/21/808333569/study-finds-century-old-combat-helmet-superior-shield-against-brain-trauma

For the military, Germans were always the best.
No, this is a myth. They mostly won by deception , and teaming up with Russia, or Austria. 1/1 they were vastly overestimated.
No they won 1/3 last war

I am proud of you my cousin
You cousin was good, but your ruling were disaster.
yes
Is that the Kaiser, or Field Marshall's Hindenburg or Ludendorf?
How it's named the second marching song in the scene? The one playing while Wilhelm inspects the Regiment giving medals.
If useful for others, the first one is the Preußischer Präsentiermarsch
That March is marsch Friedrich der große
Name of the song that was used for Kaiser Wilhems arrival? And for the badges
Respect to you 💯 from Bulgaria !

Great military music. Like it very much.
0:20 Why are they like Russians shouting "hurray", "hurray", "hurray"?
Maybe the Russians and the Germans, the Prussians are very close in tradition?
You ever wondered where the Russians picked up goose stepping from? Plus, from what I've seen of the Russians, the hurrah is longer and more drawn out, at least for more formal parades, instead of the quick succession here.
ua-cam.com/video/P7xu5XT68oU/v-deo.html
Hoera is not exclusive to Russia, here in Flanders and Holland it is shouted during celebrations such as birthdays, usually at the end of a birthday song we say " Hip hip hoera!" like 3 times.
that shouting exist in british too.

ja das waren noch männer mit stolz, und wo sind die heute?
Monarchie ist das gegenteil von stolz. Es ist feige untergebenheit. Die männer mit stolz waren diejenigen, die den Grundstein für die Weimarer Republik gelegt haben.
what is the title of the second marsh????
This scene depicts a classic example of the Kaiser's affection with his army. His first speech as German emperor was not adressed to the people, but to the army:
"We belong to each other; I am the army. We were born for each other, and will cleave indissolubly to each other."
Some how I doubt the Kaisers soldiers thought much of Wilhelm the 2nd.
@Mike OZ who? The brits
The kaisers soldiers could not give less of a shit about him and would hate him for the rest of their lives.
Kaiser Wilhelm was an arrogant sack of shit who thought of himself as a demi god and many years later would write a letter to Hitler with the words "Congratulations on your victory with MY soldiers. " arrogance beyond imagination
Le Kaiser n'était qu'une sale merde.
What's the film title?
Germany a heroic nation!
Indeed!
Yeap they ware until Nazi not come to power :-(
@The Desert Fox Yea no, they fought because they were hateful. And hitler needed someone to blame for their countries fall. He didn't want to blame it on his party, so he chose the jews as his scapegoat. They did not fight for Europe in any way. If anything they fought for everything Europe goes against.

Picelhaube ?
Lots of inaccuracies in this. For a start, the motorcycles don't look period correct; the "Kaiser's" pickelhaube is missing the rear vent tube, the kokarden are the wrong colors, the spike looks like the issue size (too small) and the plate is completely wrong. Not to mention the moustache is waaaaaay off.
This is true germany
No way. What do you know about Germany other than what the propaganda machines are grinding out? They don' talk like this at all. Degrading the German soldiers who are one of the best in this shitty world of making war all the time .. (NotGermany) True Germany, Mr. Ryan, is cultured .. a land of music and literature, proper etiquette unlike some other countries I know. I think this movie is stupid and all I like is the march .. like all German marches ...
@Juho Laukka what destruction? It was destroyed by the Americans .. Germany never performed such drastic and overwhelming air raids as as done to them ... It takes intelligent, brace people to endure and forgive this..

ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT (based on the book of the same name)
What is the name of the song the band is playing while the Kaiser is awarding the Iron Crosses? That would make a seriously awesome ringtone :)
Frederick the Great March.
