I agree Paul my friend. I was only a child when this song came out. Aged about 9 in 1972. But I am really proud to say I lived through the very BEST era for music. Unlike the rubbish around today. It has all been done in the 50s 60,s and 70s and they have no idea how to make a brilliant record today that will last for decades and decades to come. Tony in Portsmouth England.
I loved this from the moment I first heard this fabulous song in ‘73 when I was a young kid of 14 years old - I feel so glad to have grown up listening to such beautifully emotional music as was produced in those years.
One of their best ! Why dont they play this on the radio anymore ! You never seem to hear it anymore it lifts your heart and soul . Fills your heart with emotions 👌 😘 💕💞💔
Heard this on the radio the other day. I can honestly say I haven't heard it for at least 20 years!! Such a beautiful song that should be played more!!
Yep, I heard this on the radio the other day and it stopped me in my tracks, such a great song and so many great memories. I was in Southend in Essex in the seventies and this was definitely one of the songs that was part of the soundtrack of my life back then. Nice fish by the way, I'm a fish carver (check me on Google) I always love to see those graceful fishy lines. all the best, Roger Brookes.
I love you , even though we are not together anymore so I have to what it says in this song ........................................................I will never ever stop loving you xx
You would actually like to wear a suit like THAT??? REALLY??? While this song is undeniably a lovely 70s soul ballad, surely you MUST be joking about their clothes!
Yeh brilliant song, Bill Fredericks singing lead on this one, believe he was given it to persuade him to stay with the group but he left soon after. Apearances on Top Of The Pops were hindered by a strike at the time and the recording "She" by Charles Aznavor kept it from being number 1. The "B" side "TheSongs We Used To Sing" was a possible "A" side sung by Johnny both coming from there highly sucessful "Drifters Now" LP.
In the 1980s I had an affair with a married woman. This was our song! Six months later she moved in. Six months later I threw her out for having an affair! What a slapper. Funny times the eighties.
Roger Cook wrote this one for the Drifters what a beautiful ageless Classic. I am proud to say I lived through an era of the best music ever.
Dear Roger i think barry white says this sing year 1973 or 1974 i was listening what do you say

Still good 2023
That's Bill Fredericks leading the vocals. He left The Drifters in 1974 to go solo . He had such a beautiful tone. Sadly died in 1999
Saw him solo fantastic voice, God bless him ❤
Oh! The Nostalgia….❤️ remember this in the charts at a time when the charts mattered and all the singles were memorable…. 🎶 😎
Still lifts my heart
awesome song, we had curtains like their outfits in our lounge

Because its only old people that want to hear this old stuff, music has moved on and improved, basically this old stuff is outdated.
@@thehomefront1905 I don't think so ! The songs full of emotions ..
@Christine Terry Christine you're in your 60s, of course you like it.
My favourite Drifters song. the single is brilliant.
Its the year 2021 and I’m about to wear the exact same outfit to work, today. History repeats my Sisters and Brothers…history repeats ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ 🎶
'Bill Fredericks' ..........sounding great on this, one of my favourite 70's Drifters tracks ....
Beautiful song & incredible voice. Digging the outfits worn during ‘Like sister & brother.’
❤🎉😊 This is a golden oldie 😂😂😂😂😂❤🎉😊

My husband says this should have been our wedding song, as my sister was married to my husband's brother

Brilliant Song....The clothes remind me of the wallpaper we had...fantastic!!
I wonder what they think when they look back at those suits??? I reckon they would shake their heads! hahaha
jamuga60
Nah, Every Generation has "its clothes"
Due to be back in fashion shortly ;)
Well don't hold ya breath!
Yeah, truly ugly threads, but the music is A-1. The Temptations had to suffer through god-awful 'uniform' choices, too!
Crimnally underrated the drifters
My favourite drifters song, a great vocal when you consider he mostly did backing.
Gosh i love these..still playing these great songs in 2019..timeless..🎼🎶🎼
I still have this song on vinyl.
Best music came from the70s so glad I was a teenager then!!!🇬🇧👍
My Dad got me into this song, amongst a lot of other classics around this era. Very grateful 🏴🇬🇧
from a time when it was all before us...now its all behind us.
The best of times,

Roger Greenaway, along with Roger Cook, penned some classic songs for many groups of the day.

@@stephenalanmoore7278 yip :) 70s were mad
@@lookoutleo That's a relief. I thought that you'd been smoking the 'wacky backy' for a second there.

@@lookoutleo Yeah, but only for Halloween, so that you can scare all of your neighbours.

Nice song about secret lovers.
❤
Reminds me of the sound of music ! Recycling curtains into awful looking play clothes ..
johnny moore, my hero
U wont share these times again
❤❤❤❤💎🎶🎶🎶🎤❣👑
I wonder why Johnny Moore, the Drifters usual lead singer didnt do this one.He had a hell of a voice,.this lead singer aint bad either.
***** good song and singer
+mick8ncc Even though Johnny Moore was the primary lead singer after 1963, Bill Fredericks sang leads with the Drifters as far back as 1967.
mick8ncc he also a lead singer
and he was so smooth, excellent
In the 1980s I had an affair with a married woman. This was our song! Six months later she moved in. Six months later I threw her out for having an affair! What a slapper. Funny times the eighties.
You were lucky, I ended up marrying the old slapper.
You had it coming!

@sandyjuntunen4088 Oh come on, I'm sure you've cheated before
@sandyjuntunen4088 Oh come on, I'm sure you've cheated on old boyfriends
a good lead vocal here but just listen to the great voice of Johnny Moore. harmonising.
A Kay Like Sister and Brother originally by The Drifters
Did their mums know they cut up the curtains to make those suits...........................quintessential seventies.
Real stars.a thing of the past.now conveyor belt crap.
When was it made
Jasus , who got them to ware that gear
Why isn't Johnny Moore singing lead?
Surely this is live without the quotes
Anyone know the name of the guy singing?
BILL FREDERICKS
@@rosemarieharris5921 thanks Rose
Was this guy the original lead singer of this song?
Jonathan yes
No way
Titch Moynihan yep. He sure was.
