Awesome! Nice work , I’m refitting a west coast Triton. 1962 hull # 372 . Almost finished with the JBaldwin engine box, ton of work! Same engine;). I also glassed over the entire hull/ deck joint with 2/3 layers of heavy biax tape. These boats are tanks. My project is on hold at the moment but you’re helping to relight the fire, cheers mayte from CA.
I hope you will remember sailing with me in Pike Bay. If you can sail in that bay you will know lots of do’s and don’t of sailing. I wish you all the Best with your project.
Hey Kevin, I do remember. That was a long time ago. I’ve wondered if I could get back there with my Triton but don’t think the water levels would allow it.
Hi Jason. You’re right about that side of Lake Huron. A drop keel would be a better option. When you get to Midland, let’s meet for lunch. Have a great trip.
Love the idea of a sailboat as a fair weather home! You know the usual advice .... before putting in a lot of time & effort (and resource$) on any major interior changes ... live on / in it for a few weeks. Things are usually the way they are for a reason.
Very true! There are a few interior changes that I will be making down the road to increase the space of the cabin and possibly a few others but the exterior is the priority for now
Thank you. No I didn’t have a survey before buying. I was trying to find a surveyor but they weren’t responding to my emails. I ended up having someone experienced go look for me and send a ton of photos and some video for me to see
I’ve been waiting to reply to your comment until I had this next video ready. I explain the main points for choosing a Pearson Triton in this video: 7 Characteristics that make a Pearson Triton a GREAT Small Ocean Passage Maker for Solo Sailing ua-cam.com/video/IEB8KTsTD2w/v-deo.html
How fantastic 👏👏. It looks the same size as the one my late husband and I had way back. We had so much fun on it, but the mast broke during a regatta 😏. Well done 👍.
This is super !! I am very happy for you, and I think you made an excellent decision. Keep making your dreams happen, it is so inspiring to watch all the things you do !
OMG...you bought a boat. You really were bitten by the sailing bug. I did the same thing after taking my first sailing course, although I bought a local boat and didn't have to drive for a week...lol. Best of luck with your new sailboat. I am pretty confident you will have her in Bristol fashon before too long.
Thank you. Yes, I absolutely love sailing and think it’ll be a good addition to my life. It’ll take a bit of work to get the boat ready but I’m up for the challenge
an old timer said for those long drive, bring a board. when you get tired of sitting, sit on the board. when the board is getting hard to sit on, sit back on the seat. i didn't try it. crazy, maybe. may as well try it if you are up for it. time waits for no one.
Excellent choice. Welcome fellow sailor. You bought sight unseen? Wow! You are....well, let's see how it turns out, lol
