Master Mcdowell In the Groove!
One of the Best of His Generation that Took the Folk Blues to the Electric Guitar
One man and a guitar conveying more truth and emotion than an entire symphony orchestra.
I swear to God.
His slide work is so catchy.. fred was a machine! A unique tone
Fred is Fantastic
Definitely a master of his instrument.
I really like Fred McDowell and Skip James. Man their styles are dope.
Fred plays rhythm and lead at the same time on one guitar
when he gets to rocking, people better watch out!
One of my favorite things about Fred's playing is when he forgot the words and just let his guitar sing for him. Absolute legend.
I just got Levee Camp Blues, a collection of hitherto unreleased 1968 recordings that had escaped my completist attention, and in the liner notes, Fred says , "As you're playing, words will come to you. Sometimes the guitar will make you think of the words, almost like it's talking to you." And vice versa! Fred had an absolutely mystical connection to the stone blues.
This MUSH IS A GENIUS WITH A GUITAR IN HAND…. HOW MANY NOW’A DAYS COULD PLAY LIKE MR FRED MCDOWELL🤔🤔🤔 PURE CLASS❣️❣️❣️ WHAT DO Y’ALL SAY???? Come on now… Tell it like it is folks…. All the greats have looked up to these guy’s, promise you that!!!👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️
GRAND Fred Mccdowell!🎶🎵🎵🎸🙏🙏🙏💯
La tenía muy clara con la guitarra, y encima cantaba mientras lo hacía, un genio total!!! 🎉
Only 68 when he died, still feeling bad. Best shake ‘em on down. Thank you.
❤❤❤ maravilloso
Fascinating!
Incredible Fred🙏
So damn good
Thank you for this.
Thank you so much.
Thanks for the upload. Great music
👊
Thank you!!
I come runnin'!
Not being pedantic, but the preamble before the playing is wrong. McDowell is NOT a harbinger of the Delta Blues. He is 100% Hill Country Blues, aka Juke Joint Blues. They are two very different styles.
I get you mate, I think back then those filming and archiving these amazing artists were still unsure of genres and all that within the blues. At least they had the good foresight to film them so we can watch them some 50-60 years later
Yes the Hill music was closer to the original African hypno-trance rhythms.
RL Burnside continued the tradition
That rhythm is hill country all the way
If its good enough for "Reacher" he is for sure good for all of us wantabe players.....to learn how its done ...Slash knows!!....play on brother...
banger
uah! 💥💥💥🎸💥💥💥 🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🐻👍
A big influence on Bonnie Raitt.
This is NOT Rock and Roll. Fred McDowell doesn’t play rock and Roll.
The straight and natural blues.
