    Im a medical cannabis patient and literally lost my driving license yesterday due to it being in my system. I drive for a living and have lost my job as a result.Even though medical cannabis is permitted. The judge and prosecution aint even have a clue about medical cannabis. The treatment for cannabis in this country is a joke look at others like germany canada and so on. Ukgov exports tons and tons of cannabis but still classes it as a class b drug absolute joke

      if you are on MEDCIAL cannabis like @thewatcher9323 says "you can fight it" it will be removed but if you took it without the hospital medical team "cannabis programe" and this is not a easy thing to get on the Hospital one which is the only offical one in the UK that will cover you for driving, then its bad to take it even if you need it..
      I have loads of really bad pains everywhere in my body took me nearly 6 years to find out what was wrong with me, some days i can not even get out of bed without help from my wife helping, i have my bad days and good days, guess what i went for the Cannabis hospital programme and i was not ill enough to be on it !
      Yes i did alot of seaching and found out Boots sells the same thing but reading into it "nope you not covered to use it and drive".. its crazy specialy when you never get the high from it Cannabis Oil..
      So do not take it from anywhere that sells it unless you are in the offical hospital one...

    I lost my drivers license on a thursday morning on my way to the goddamn gym because i smoked weed on the sunday before that. 4 Days, 3 of those i went to the gym and got a good sweat in, still showed up positive as they test for THC-COOH, because 'THC' itself only lasts for a few hours in your Saliva, but the THC-COOH can show up (depending on how much bodyfat you have) up to 14 days later. They don't test for safety on the road, they test to fill their bags with your misery.

      I 100% agree with what you've said...
      There should be a "reaction" time test and an "awareness" test or something similar...
      If your fully aware and have good reactions you should be safe behind the wheel of a car...
      During war, pilots are often given amphetamines to keep them alert during long hours of fighting...
      If you're under the influence of that stuff whilst driving then you'd loose your license...
      All that really matters is if someone is safe to driver or not... There are a couple of drivers where I work that have young babies at home and they look absolutely knackered when I see them... Currently there is no test for tiredness 🤷‍♂️

      It's a blanket rule, because otherwise they'd have to test each person seperately on a whole variety of roads to determine what speed they can safely drive on each type of road, it would then be ridiculously hard to enforce any speeding no matter how extreme.

    I lost my licence for 17 months after failing the roadside swab test! I hadn’t smoked for days at this point. 12 month ban for smoking and driving and another 5 months on top for having a passenger with me in the car (he was older than myself and a regular cannabis smoker himself who was aware I had smoked that week as it was with him)
    Due to where i lived at the time it affected my life massively leaving me with no ways of getting to work or even to get my weekly shopping.
    I agree with the system that smoking and driving is a serious and dangerous decision to make but as many have stated in these comments… nobody smokes and feels the effects 3 days later!
    Theses tests still need to be in place, however, it needs to be more accurate to when the the drug was consumed before they make convictions and essentially ruin peoples lives or massively disrupt it for a period of time.
    They had good intentions by creating this swab but the execution of how it works and plays part in convicting people is absolutely ridiculous.

    Someone (policeman) told me there are different levels of cannabis in the system which can be detected, there is an advanced test for this which is very expensive compared to the regular testing completed. This means many would, in effect, pass the test. The policeman even said it would halve the numbers of convicted drivers, which would reduce the revenue provided to the police by the government for drug driving. If this is true, it goes to show the process is commercially driven. On the other hand, it's very difficult to draw a line where the testing should and shouldn't be conducted, but it's clearly driven with a budget and return on investment in mind.

      Nothing to do with revenue. I serve in the largest force in the UK. Almost no officers on team have drug wipes and ONLY traffic officers have them. We regularly stop suspected drug drivers but don't have a wipe, and traffic are rarely available to bring one down. The last time I saw one being used it was a sample taken and then placed into a large box with a small computer inside it, contained within a hard plastic case, it took several minutes and confirmed the offence. Apparently this bit of kit was very expensive but is more accurate than the small plastic wipes you see here.
      Oh, and money raised in fines from the police actually goes to the treasury, not the police. How the treasury then divvy it up each year is up to them. In my experience only a very small percentage of people stopped whereby they are suspected to be under the influence of drugs, actually get tested for it.

She talked her poor unsuspecting mum into letting her drive her car, insured but on a provisional. Her mother obviously didn't know about the drugs but let her use her car on the condition that she has someone besides her at all times who fits the criteria for driving with a provisional. One evening she decided to take mum's car and drive somewhere alone ( telling her mum that X person is coming with her so she is legal)). Unbeknownst to mum she had been paying someone to get in with her when she picked the car up and then dropping them off at home and driving alone with no L's. She'd been doing this for a few months but as you can guess in that lifestyle, there's a lot of animosity and she was either A... Grassed up or B an informer for the police. I say this because the evening in question she apparently passed a lot of police cars on the way to dropping her friend off and literally 100 yards after she was alone and illegal they swooped on her. She has mummies car impounded but strangely the test Mark had came up negative??? ( I guess it could be a faulty test but even then that's still bad). Makes you wonder... Safe to say i haven't smoked weed in 3 years now. That was my wake up call wasn't worth it, loosing your license effects everything.

    • @thefiestaguy8831
      @thefiestaguy8831 Місяць тому

      Bloods get sent off to the lab. This takes a long time due to lab submission times and a backlog of samples to be tested. I know of cases where it has taken 3 months for a blood sample to be tested. No doubt you would complain if the police said "You can't drive until the lab results are back, might be 1 week, but in reality more likely to be 3 months"... "Even though we can't prove you're guilty now, you still can't drive until then".
      The evidence isn't there to charge you there and then, even then until convicted you aren't banned from driving. Thus even drink drivers once arrested and charged, and once sobered up and then released from custody, can continue driving (they can't legally be charged whilst drunk, so kept in a cell until sober).
      It would be a huge breach of your rights for them to send off bloods to the lab and then tell you, that you aren't allowed to drive for likely months until the results are back. There is no conclusive evidence of the offence at that time as they're awaiting lab results.

    I don't smoke, drink or use any kind of illegal drug, but getting convicted over some chemical test that finds a trace of whatever in your system that you may have used 5 days prior is absolute bs, especially if you don't exhibit ANY signs of intoxication. I'm all for getting obvious intoxicated drivers off the roads, but it has to be accomplished in a realistic manner.

    • @thefiestaguy8831
      @thefiestaguy8831 Місяць тому

      I find it more questionable that you obviously don't have much respect for road safety.... you're condoning people smoking illegal drugs then driving x amount of time later, when the drug is still present in their body. The obvious and most sensible answer here is either "Don't smoke weed" or "Don't drive after smoking weed". Ultimately the first one is still illegal so to do both and expect sympathy is ridiculous.

    Mam and dad lost there son to someone who was drink driving, I lost my only brother at my age of 11, it ripped me apart i went from a nice child to a messed up kid, back then in the 1970s it was hard to understand Mental Health, looking back i was a child with so much crap going inside my head that the person i really was is gone i was "dead" and did not want to know if i was right even if i was 100% wrong.
    Teen life was so screwed up, hated everything but before that i loved everything in and out of school, school tests i would get 100% and was called a swat looking back i would miss off the date or the title just to get 99% and not be called a swat lol.
    I found myself trying to find these people but to no joy "which" i am very happy for because back then not sure what i would have done, and you know when you get that thing in your head "wtf you doing" in my head it was your family just lost there Son they going to lose there only son if you go ahead with this, i walked away from this bad idea and never tried to find them ever again..
    The truth to this story is they killed more than one person that day, they also killed me i was 11 year old kid i am now in my late 50s, and i still have mental health problems that effect my everyday life, kind of living in abody thats not me 40yrs of hell...
    Think Twice before drink driving/drugs yous would hate it if it was your family members, believe its a nightmare you can never wake up from.. they say time heals thats bullshit not when someone is taking from your life from drink/drugs, i would welcome a stronger sentence when someone dies from drink/drug driving, a 1year ban for been caught doing so without harm to others is getting off light in my eyes, even if you lose everything job etc....
    Just think about no one knows whats around the next corner in life it could be you just killed someone without know it was going to happen, i NEVER drink and drive tbh i never drink because of the fear i could give another family...
    There is much better ways to have fun, then to drink/drugs with good friends... enjoy your full life its too short to start with..

    Having worked in technology and worked in the prison service doing various projects, in which the police were very difficult to work with and having the majority of my friends from school joining the force, the perception that is portrayed is absolutely unbelievable, no one seems to understand that these guys are going into situations everyday where they have no idea of the individuals involved or what they are walking into, i think its an absolute disgrace that people don't understand that they are here to keep the public safe, it's not meant to be a nice experience if the police are called, if they are coming to deal with something its for a reason, they habe no idea what they are walking into and people need to understand that. In my opinion it should be an offence to film or post anything in any situation that they deal with as no one knows the circumstances, we need to have more respect for the job they do. No one talks about the long-term effects of their job and career as to PTSD, its only ever discussed about military services, it must effect the retired staff from the the services aswell the police, fire brigade and paramedics. Surely.

    I find that the THC tests are not accurate in the sense that THC is stored in the fatty cells of your body . That being said you will show a positive even when you have not had it in a long while and that’s not fair to some people who use it properly ie not while driving. In like alcohol after a short while it’s metabolized and won’t show up . And if that’s the case they deem it because it’s in your system and even after time it’s not affecting you so if that’s the case you should not take tynol or anything because that alters your state according to the government.

    • @thefiestaguy8831
      @thefiestaguy8831 Місяць тому

      This HAS been the case for years, just many people are not smart enough to realise it.
      ANY drug, legal or not, can have consequences later down the line should you be involved in a collision, especially if it results in a serious injury or is fatal. The real deluded ones are the people who think it's acceptable to drive around dosed up on codeine or some other drug, and when they crash after falling asleep at the wheel go "It's not my fault, I'm taking medication". Of course it's your fault.
      You put the legal drug into your system, and you then made the decision to drive. In the same way that a drink driver makes the decision to drink and then get in their car and drive. People nowadays take no accountability for their own actions, make excuses and blame everything on everyone else.

    It was quite fun for me to hear about the consequences as I’ve been convicted of driving under the influence (thc). I’m from Denmark, and here the consequences are harder. Here we are tested per thousand in our body, and unfortunately I was 0.004% above the maximum allowed limit. It cost me a fine of 3500 British pounds (30.000,- dkk) and a 3 year driving ban. If we have any other licenses for example bus license, all of our licenses are suspended in one. I am only allowed to ride a bicycle even though I took a scooter license when I was 16. If I were to get nicked for the same thing again, the next ban will be 5 years and an even bigger fine.

      For fairly obvious reasons....
      The blood test is sent off to the lab, it's not uncommon for lab submissions to take up to 3 months to be tested, depending on the number of submissions.
      They can't legally say "Well mr smith, we've sent off the blood to the lab, we don't know yet whether the offence has occurred or not because we're waiting on the evidence from the lab... but in the meantime you can't drive for the next 1 week or up to 3 months until the results are back, because you might have been over the limit". "We're not going to charge you to court before we stop you driving, we're going to do it right now... "
      That's why courts exists. Even drink drivers who are charged at the police station, once sobered can leave custody and continue driving. You HAVE to remember they are NOT GUILTY of the offence until convicted in a court, thus they can enjoy the same privileges as they did until convicted.
      In the same way that until you are charged and found guilty at court, you are innocent. That's how law works... it's quite simple really.

    Just revenue generating and the pigs dont care whose life they ruin. Its been proven there's absolutley no impairment after 8 hours even though it can be detected in your system for up to 3 weeks but if they put a limit on it they are basically saying its OK to take it. Decriminalise it or even better make it legal then put some proper sensible limits on place like other countries have. The tax and vat they could generate on weed in this country would be enormous.

    Devil's advocate here: The current tests for weed are flawed, they test for metabolites which are a signature that you've had it in your system, which is a retrospective affair. It's not an indicator of intoxication. As seen with Alex, you can be completely sober and safe to drive but because your body still has metabolites present you're classed as being intoxicated.
    I don't condone drug driving, but having been convicted days after smoking I can comfortably say that it's not as clear cut as "you have x in your system which means you're y". Cocaine users avoid detection after around 3 days but cannabis can be detected for up to 14 days in your blood, there's no way in hell that you're intoxicated or impaired after a 14 day cool off.

      No doubt when weed is eventually legalized, they'll change how they test for it too. It wont be a 'THC detection', but rather detecting a certain quantity in your system just the same as alcohol currently is.

      100% agree. A spliff on the night will not leave you intoxicated the next day. Regular users can smoke all day and you’d never know they’ve smoked anything. I know from experience.

      @@24alexash Well, we currently have legal weed and it's used as a defence in court. I don't know the conviction rates on medicinal (legal) vs recreational (illegal), but the fact that people do indeed get their case thrown out on that premise is a bit unsettling to me. The effects of a legal and an illegal spliff are no different, yet the courts give allowances to those who've gone the legal route.

      It's not the police you want to moan at... it's the lawmakers. They're doing the job they're asked to do. The law is passed and they're asked to enforce it. People complain when they don't do their job, then people like you complain when they do their job, so which is it? Can't have it both ways. Either you want it enforced or not, it can't be enforced only when it suits you and not enforced when it doesn't suit you.
