      @@MoonhareStudio I am going to have to stop watching your videos soon Darren, After watching I bought the Icon Qcon Pro X and you did the Zero-G review of EVI and after feeling your enthusiasm for the vocals I went to their site and I bought ETHERA Gold 2.5 also really amazing for the price. Of course I am teasing you Darren.. keep up the great work 👍🙏🎹

    Great video Darren. I've got the Behringer X-Touch Compact. It's very basic with no scribble strips etc but fits my requirements - motorised faders, transport controls, mute/solo/record buttons, pan pots, physical size and cost. Prior to that I had a nanokontrol2 which I have now programmed with various midi commands - thank you for your fab video on how to do that!
    Once I get more space, experience (and cash...) I'll probably upgrade, but it does what I need for now.

    Great review again Darren. Thanks for it. Another very important use of a midi controller, which I found was the capability it provides to use two control knobs at the same time simultaneously, specifically sometimes when EQ. This is very difficult/not possible with the computer keyboard alone.

I definitely solved my issues for open/close plugins in insert, and I am copying what I can from your ICON Q videos for my little i-controls, small but well working. Its motorized faders are surprisingly silent. On monday I will receive my Novation ZERO SL MKII, I saw you had one in the past))) I think I will like it.

    Coming from a hybrid studio using analog tape with huge console recorded to daw to just daw mouse and keyboard definitely need a daw surface to make it feel real and substantial.

      Good choice sir! I really loved my P1. I only really swapped because I decided to go for motorised faders but I do have a Nektar Impact LX88+ keyboard for my live rig which is great. Another advantage is that the customer support from Nektar is second to none.

      I'm so sorry but I've sold my P1 so don't have access to it any more. What I will say is the official manual was great and I had very few problems getting the P1 set up for Cubase and any issues I had were quickly resolved by an email to Nektar.

    Nice video Darren, thx. Maybe a bit late and off topic, but can you help me out with my question I've never found a clear anwser on during my everlasting search for the right controller for me? In one of your other video's I saw the Qcon Pro X following Cubase's Track Agents pretty well, which seems to me a must have function. Video's of other brands don't speak on this functionalty with Cubase. Do you by any chance know if this is standard MCU-protocol or has Icon implemented some special code for it to work properly wit Cubase? A second question if I may :) Does the extra fader resolution of the Pro X compared to the Pro G2 (I read about this, not sure if it is exactly true) is a serious benefit of the two? Thx in advance if you could clarify some of this for me. Cheers and greetingzzzz! YdB

    • @MoonhareStudio
      @MoonhareStudio 2 роки тому

      Hi there. Yes it works perfectly with track agents and I use this functionality a lot. I kind of assumed this was baked into the Mackie control protocol but I've only really used it since I got the Qcon so I can't say for sure. My gut feeling is this is not unique to the Qcon. As for the G2 I don't own one so I can't do a side by side comparison however I know someone in Germany that uses a G2 and I don't hear any complaints about fader resolution. I would very strongly recommend checking out a few G2 reviews before deciding which way to jump though and see how people feel about the fader travel. I think you get a lot of bang for your buck with the G2 for very few downsides. If you like your mixer LEDs at the back instead of next to the faders, that's one pro for the ProX. But the second LED strip on the ProX serves no useful function for Cubase users (I've pointed this out in some of my vids). Value wise the G2 wins IMHO however I love the ProX and wouldn't trade down now I've got it. Flaws and all it is still the closest I've found to what I want from a Midi Controller. Paired up with my Korg Nano Kontrol 2 for extra function buttons I'm happy and haven't felt the need to upgrade my controllers for the last 4-5 years, which is a record for me! Enjoy making music and thanks for checking in. All the best Darren

      @@MoonhareStudio Thank you for your quick and informative response. You're vid about the Cubase Track Agent support is the only time I saw this working, so that's a big plus for the Pro X. I'll keep it in mind when finally making my choice for one or the other :). Keep up the good work making these usefull vids. Greetings YdB.
