I always keep a stack of blank thankyou, birthday and get well cards from dollar store. I think it special to be able to give a cast or crew person a birthday, etc card signed by the company. It boosts Company morale and makes everyone feel that we are one unit.
This isn’t quite a thing that’s changed my workflow, per se, rather just a random thing I find extremely useful: a little square of blue gel to put over my phone flashlight, and a slightly larger one which I wrap around a flashlight head with a rubber band. Makes looking for things in the dark without being obnoxious or making a lighting designer very mad easy :)
Our theatre is VERY COLD! A small lap blanket is a nice thing sometimes.
I love my mini stapler. It makes packet and document building for cast and crew super easy, plus it comes in a pinch for callboard announcements too!
My mini stapler doesn't unhook/unhinge open! I can't use it for a callboard, that would be a nice feature!

I believe Kent is amazing and Half Hour Call is the best thing since Cue Lights!! But I have to publically object to "No one told me" that you didn't have to have a personal kit. But I acknowledge that you didn't retain it and I have UPPED my announcements to that effect in the classroom!!! :). Love Claudia

This is interesting! I worked at a community theatre this summer as an asm, and we got a budget to buy stuff that would go in a "typical sm kit" like bandaids, pencils, etc. Thoughts on this?
That's exactly what should happen! Nothing should come out of your pocket, but you can certainly be tasked with stocking the kit from the company's funds. It's nice to have the freedom to select your own supplies, too, so this is my favorite kind of arrangement!
