Tony Hadley of Spandau Ballet playing Trie at the 80's Weekend #3 concert. #80s #spandauballet #true #80sweekend3 #concert #live #ilovethe80s #losangeles #microsofttheater
Now here's a CLASSIC example. Of an 80's singer who simply has NOT missed a beat. And sounds just as good as he did when one first heard this song. Being a singer myself with the gift of voice the lord blessed me with. I pray i'm half as good as him 20+yrs from now. 80's music is timeless folks one of THE BEST era's in my honest opinion. And well i must say the 70's as well. I feel badly for all the youngsters that missed out on this wonderful era of music. Thank god for UA-cam folks right...;)
Jonathan Washington the only person who "own's" the song is gary kemp,he wrote it,don't think you have pay him to sign the song in public? only when the record is played or if you make a record of it???
First of all it's not a backup band. It's his band and they've been playing together for 20 years. A lot longer than he was with Spandau Ballet, and they're a lot better musicians.
Tony has not performed with Spandau Ballet in nearly 2 years. According to the band Tony refuses to perform with the band anymore (per thier official twitter account) for undisclosed resons.
youtuber not sure who was getting all the money,he say's they only got £40,000 a year in the spandu years, not great money, boosted a bit by gary kemp giving them a cut of publishing cash that he stopped in 1990 when he decided he did not want to do it anymore, thus the court case that they lost, they lost everything to kemp.Would be great if we knew why tony walked away for good, without tony spandau is just a tribute band.
The reasons really aren't unknown. Gary likes to rule his band members with threats intimidation and ultimatums and the lead singer wasn't going to put up with it.
Agree Tony is an elite level singer. He is a 1 percent type vocalist and he needs a backing band equal to his vocal ability to bring out the true beauty of the song and this band is far beneath his ability
Yeah..wtf is that drummer doing? Too much, let the the man's come out of the music. At least Spandau knew when to step back and let Tony sing...his own band hasn't learned that skill.
these musicians are a hell of a lot better than the musicians and Spandau Ballet, let's not forget you're hearing it recorded on a cell phone. most of the people in that band have been with him for 20 years, the exception of John Keeble who he won't play with anymore.
The thing now that Tony has left Spandau Ballet for good. All he's gonna do is sing their songs with rubbish backing bands whilst Spandau Ballet do them with a rubbish singer. Whatever has gone off sounds bad.
@@jaggass His band now is a lot better than Spandau Ballet, I doubt Martin Kim could even play the bass. Stop judging things by what you hear recorded on a cell phone.
This back-up band is totally lackluster and aside from Tony not having to share concert proceeds with 4 others equally as in Spandau, I see no advantage not performing with his old band. This is the most uninspired version of "True" I'd ever heard.

The song remais new but it is a shame we need to grow old.
What. Do you want to be 20 forever? No thanks.
Me. Gusta esta. Cansion
To clarify, that's Tony from Spandau Ballet singing with a back up band, but that's NOT Spandau Ballet
Tony is the only one that matters..
Doesn't the band itself "own" the song though?
indigojc To clarify TONY is spandau ballet
Jonathan Washington the only person who "own's" the song is gary kemp,he wrote it,don't think you have pay him to sign the song in public? only when the record is played or if you make a record of it???

Lovely to see Tony Hadley but it's not Spandau Ballet.
Who is claiming that it is? Look at the title of the video and get over yourself.

Is that sax player also performing with Duran Duran?
Tony sounds like he's playing with a school band.

Fuckin dynamite
The backing band is good but hey do not sound as good as Spandau Ballet

Michael Langley So he is the original leader, But the band is different?
Was the original lead singer of Spandau Ballet but left. He's just performing with a backing bandnow.
@@jaggass His band now is a lot better than Spandau Ballet, I doubt Martin Kim could even play the bass. Stop judging things by what you hear recorded on a cell phone.
No l'm afraid he's a great lead singer but l like the full Spandau Ballet.....
Then go listen to that. Why come here and find fault/criticize? Why?
Hardly anything like the original version..... I know there has been a lot of time that's passed but geez he still could have done better
Really? Were you around when the original was made? And can YOU do better? Let's hear it.
You try doing anything better after you age so many freakin years, geez the audacity!
