Glad you enjoyed this one Greg. They are one of my all time favourite bands. Their second album ‘The Perfect Prescription’ is probably my favourite album of there’s. Stand out tack would be ‘Transparent Radiation’…. Very laid back track but equally amazing. It’s a cover of a Red Krayola track…another amazing psychedelic band from the 60’s. Those and the 13th Floor Elevators, Silver Apples, Suicide are just a few of the more obscure bands from the 60’s/ 70’s that would have influenced Spacemen 3’s music!
@@intothemusic908 Yeah Transparent Radiation it’s a great song. Worth checking out the original Red Krayola version… very different. It’s one of Sonic Boom’s (Peter Kember) tracks on that S3 album. There’s quite a noticeable difference between Sonic and Jason’s tracks on their albums…. It becomes more pronounced as they get closer to their last album and when they split! In fact their final album ‘Recurring’ is basically two solo albums released a Spacemen 3 as they where not talking to each other when they made it. Sonic’s songs are on side one and Jason’s on side two!
@@gartgreenside3657 Didn’t Big City feature in an episode of the Simpsons recently? Homer inadvertently takes some Hallucinogenic’s ! 😅 Wonder did Pete Kember approve that?🤔ua-cam.com/video/tjVdLSPE7qo/v-deo.html
Did recommend these guys on your my bloody valentine reaction, they were amazing at playing a couple of chords but making it sound huge blissful and heavy yet tender and brutal...another big influence is the electronic pioneers Suicide even did a tribute track on same playing with fire
I think “Revolution” is a direct response to Margaret Thatcher, and he is calling for literal political revolution in this song. Very powerful tune. They started this band dirt poor, industrial towns like Rugby were in a really awful state at this time in the 80’s.
Gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it. Just love the drone through it.

That's the track I've been intending to give Andy. Brilliant!

I worked as roadie for these guys in 1988/9. they did actually quite like drugs. Quite a lot in fact. I know that may be surprising...
lol
Love seeing Americans react to the 3. Almost as good as when I saw it played in the Simpsons a way back.
The riff is from You Shouldn't Do That by Hawkwind .ua-cam.com/video/xn_53mgjqU8/v-deo.html
@@gartgreenside3657 . Sounds more like a Pink Floyd freakout.
Reminds me tonally like sex pistols- anarchy in the UK, the few bars at the beginning of the song repeated.

I prefer the taking drugs to make music version tbh
