TIP: idk why your nurses don’t know this trick, but those lap necks (the weird fold on baby clothes neckline), are there so you can pull the clothes down instead of over their heads (massive trick for blow outs). I literally never put clothes over my babies heads since doing this a few years ago. So, those knotted gowns are super awesome if you pull them down, and they are great for easy diaper changes!

I’m not gonna lie I’m a NICU nurse and I still hate knotted gowns lol. They’re great for diaper changes and parents but for taking completely on and off for assessments and weights they’re a total pain in the ass lol versus sleepers which don’t have to go over head or body

I HATED the knotted gowns lol they’re so dang annoying 😂 my daughter stayed in the hospital clothes until the next day when we were on our own. I’d bring 2 outfits in a nb size AND 0-3 m. A robe, nursing gown, a nursing tank and loose pants and an extra pair of pants or other outfit. I prefer adult diapers to the hospital undies but check what your hospital offers. Bring a tinted moisturizer mascara and a cream blush if you’re lazy but want to feel human lol bring all shower toiletries, but just any toiletries to make you comfy (lip balm, face creams, w/e), but don’t do the medical stuff unless you have certain medications. Otherwise 1/2 things to entertain yourself, headphones, and comfort items like a nightlight or battery candles. I did bring sticky socks AND flip flops to shower. Have patience for yourself, and pack what makes you comfortable, but don’t bring anything that can’t be sanitized or you would feel uncomfortable not having with you.

I'm due the first week of November with my first baby and no one in my family understands why I need all this postpartum stuff? Like the peri bottle and the dermaplast and the tucks pads. They dont think its necessary. But I'm going to get them to make myself feel more comfortable since I'm so nervous and scared about child birth. I'd rather be prepared and discover I didnt need it over wishing I had it or dealing with asking someone to go pick it up after the fact. I know the hospital will probably have those things but I'm so paranoid that they wont for whatever reason 😂. This video and channel help me feel better about everything whenever I'm anxious about being a first time mom. Thank you ♡

The nurse smuggled the blanket baby was wrapped in when he was born into our luggage when we left. Our hospital provided EVERYTHING. The only thing I really was glad I brought was hydrogel breast pads but they did give me wet frozen nappies for my boobs (try it it’s amazing). Maybe this is a difference between public and private?

I just had my 3rd baby 3 months ago and I’ve kinda been in a slump the last couple of months because I’m really struggling to produce enough breast milk for my baby and that’s how I actually found you! I watched your tips for producing breastmilk and have been hooked on your videos since. I find your videos very inspiring and for some reason they make me feel motivated to keep trying in this breast feeding journey. So thank you for giving me a boost of some much needed confidence.

Just going to preface this by saying I’m not a mom but many of my friends are either moms or nurses. Anyway, it’s so crazy watching these videos and seeing the differences between US L&D stays and Canadian (or at least my province’s) L&D and what the hospitals provide to you and baby. Where I live, you have to bring your own diapers, diaper cream, formula, baby shampoo, baby lotion, and postpartum underwear!

Best rule of thumb is to check with the hospital if you want to make sure of what they carry. I loved dermaplast for my first and then called the hospital I was delivering my second at and so I did because they did have dermaplast. Also freaking yes shower stuff it is the best shower you will get.

I was a home birth transfer to hospital, (after 27 hours and 9 cm!) and while it wasn’t an emergency situation, I definitely wasn’t taking any time to grab things to bring. I did pre-pack a bag but it was strictly the MOST basic items like toothbrush and change of clothes. Let me tell you, the hospital gives you EVERYTHING. I didn’t need a single thing from home.

My hospital I was at L&D and the new momma sith her 9lb newborn didnt bring anything for her baby. The hospital staff I overheard talking about how they didnt have any size 1 diapers for the baby... I am bringing everything. 3 NB outfits, 3 0M-3M outfits, 24 size NB diapers, 24 size 1 diapers. Bottle, formula, blankets for swaddle and thick blanket for outside. For myself, 2 sleeping nursing bras, 3 outfits, tolietries bag for shower and brushing teeth ,hair brush, towels, sandals, socks, 5 big white briefs, and makeup. Just in case I get a C section.

Also, I had a csection and you still pour blood afterwards so I only wore the hospital underwear as well. I had a scheduled csection so I went to the hospital with makeup on and that was it. I was in way too much pain. I also went ahead and put dry shampoo in my hair before I left to help with the oil and showered on the second day. I wore a loose tank top dress home because you don't want to put on pants over your incision.

Brittany Balyn this makes me nervous. I’m sure you have checked with your doctor. But please be careful. I had a hard first delivery as well. 2 days of labor 2.5 hours of pushing. Lots of stitches and would say I stopped bleeding after a week. My second delivery was just 4 days ago. And it’s already pretty light. Just be sure to talk to your doctor if you haven’t already.

I think it’s an individual thing I had a c section bleed for 3.5 months afterwards it was insane things have just normalised but having extremely heavy periods and my daughter is 5 months old. Life after c section isn’t easier so I have to disagree with @sherry Hatcher
Also if you in the U.K. bring everything my hospital didn’t provide any milk, bottles, nappies, sanitary pads or any other items just bring everything!
