    My dog got partial glossectomy so he doesn't have half of his tongue. He only drinks water. He ate little of what I hand fed him on lunch but he won't eat at dinner. He only sleeps a alot. It's been day 3. Please help. How to make him eat or any techniques.

      Hello all, I know it's been too long to help the posters above, and I hope all turned out well for your pets, but hopefully and anyone in need of help will find my experience useful in managing their pets needs.
      We have just gone through 8 days of intestinal post-op hell with our dog, Scruffy. I won't burden you with most of his care, but eating was a huge problem for him. We tried everything listed above and more. All without much success. At his best weight he's only about 24 pounds and so there really isn't much to lose. Yet, he lost about 4 pounds during the ordeal (about 20% of his total weight). Here is what has helped us to nurse him through this trying period;
      Having exhausted all of the things list in the video, we contacted our vet and got a prescription for Entyce (an appetite stimulant). About an hour after the oral admin he showed some interest in eating and he would eat about 25% of what he normally ate and was very picky even then. This was better, but not really good enough to sustain life. We then added baby food to his diet with a little success and ultimately got him cooked burgers from a local joint. These also helped. We also got him a high quality canned puppy food. Our goal was to get him proteins and fat. We also cooked some bacon, which he readily ate, and saved the fat to add to his food. It's been tough, but we feel like we are slowly turning corner.
      The Entyce helped a lot, but was not a solution in and of itself. You just need to keep in mind what it is your dog will eat, and what can give him/her the proteins and fats needed. This takes a lot of trial and error. I do recommend having bacon and bacon grease to add to whatever you try.
      Good luck to those of you in need!! And again, I hope the previous posters pets are health and happy.

      MyiahhBee same thing with my dog, he got a splenedoctomy and only drank a little bit of water and liver broth today after his surgery, I didn’t feed him after 7:30 pm last night, had his surgery at 8 am, and now at 10:22 he still is groggy and we have to give him his meds but he won’t take it with his food :/
