Twinkling Stars are a Mirage

You may already know that stars twinkle because of turbulence in the atmosphere, but do you know why turbulence changes the path of the light? Also why does a little wobbliness make the light appear to flicker on and off? With two do it yourself experiments you can get a real feel for these phenomena.

There's also a lot of information that your brain fills in for your eyes, you don't actually see through your optic nerve, so the brain fills in info based on its surroundings. Can be a fun experiment in the future!
