O’ Brother! Imam shall rise on the seventh (7th) day of the last month of the year.
Remember that it will be Thursday when Imam will arrive in Subcontinent.
The verse cited above is one of the many verses from the vast corpus of ginanic literature that
deal with one of the most comprehensive, convoluted, and a colossally stimulating theme (i.e.“AsvƗrƯ of the Ismaili Imam”).
Sometime, in the middle of this year, I visited around 50 villages in Pakistan for some
academic research purpose. During the visit, I was fortunate enough to unearth and study a manuscript entitled “Ɩgam VƗṇƯ TathƗ ShƗh NƯ AsvƗrƯ NƗ GinƗn”. This article is largely a
result of the study of this newly discovered manuscript which is now in the possession of an Individual in Karachi, Pakistan. This article is a minor attempt to compile the available
readings from the ginanic literature on the theme of AsvƗrƯ with thorough relevance to the modern age of scientific encroachment and critical reasoning. The motive which induced me to start working on such topics was an instruction that was given by Hazar Imam(A.S) to our Ismaili Community in Karachi, Pakistan on Tuesday,
    September 27, 1960. It reads:
“The most important problem by far for us today is to create students who are capable of
going back and of reading the original texts of our history, of reading texts in Arabic, of
reading them in Persian, of reading them in Urdu, of reading them in Gujarati, of reading
them in any language in which they may have been written.......For this reason, I would
like the Association [Modern day Ismaili Tariqah and Religious Education Board] in the
years to come, to do everything possible including pick its best students and grant them
    scholarships....”

The word “Savārī” is a Hindi word which literally means “To Ride”. It has been used in the
ginƗns as “Asavārī”. Owing to their conventional approach some community scholars have
also used the word “Zahurat” [from the word ZƗhir, which literally means manifest] as the
synonymous of AsavƗrƯ. However, both have been used in the ginƗnic literature in a different context.
According to the ginƗnic literature, it refers to the time when one of the IsmƗƯlƯ ƮmƗms [Hazar ƮmƗm (Present ƮmƗm) or ƮmƗm of the time] who would be manifested in the west would come to the Indian subcontinent and declare his authority openly in front of the entire world.
Generally speaking, for the IsmƗƯlƯ community, the coming of their ƮmƗm [Hazar ƮmƗm
(Present ƮmƗm)] from the west to the east to openly declare his authority and rule is the
meaning of the word AsavƗrƯ. However, there is much more to understand other than the
simple meaning of the word AsavƗrƯ.
To retain the interest of the readers and shorten the discussion, I have quoted some interesting facts or events that are indications towards the AsavƗrƯ from the very next page. These facts or events have been taken from the ginƗns. I have not included the details given in farmƗns.
