Such an unacknowledged pianist and singer.
Not only that, but a genius songwriter and instrumentalist.

One of my favorite Nelly performances. What a great song to pick. The ukelele and harmonica. So wonderful!

What can you say? There is a spirituality about Nellie's musicality that is quite disarming.

The build up left me wondering where this was going. Like Billie Holiday, and definitely different in a good way, your left going well with this world when she starts singing. Thanks for the upload.

I love the piece. How come we don't hear the cello or uke in the audio?

I think the video is a distraction to the incredible performance.

I kind of love it though Todd because it shows all the instruments she plays and she seems like such a doll.

It was a case of the asset [video B roll] driving the production.
Somebody in the production chain of command either flunked self-restraint or had the most brilliant artistic inspiration of her/his life. maybe both.

I hear a lot of Blossom Dearie in this lady, not too much Doris Day

I haven't heard much of Nellie's work, but I did detect a slight bit of 50's Munro in all of the nuances of the few songs I have heard to date. Besides that, let's not look for pastiche. To my ear, that voice is unique and cannot be faulted.

I’ve always felt that Nellie was an incarnation of Blossom Dearie

Oh shit! She's a mess on that piano... In the best possible way. So many modalities, moods and manias. Schizophrenic too. So much going on. And this beautiful faint voice dancing over the top of it all like a depressed and anorexic ballerina. Makes me sentimental a cravingcsome very expensive booze. Love ya Nelly.
