Great video, I just bought this vintera 50s p bass except it is in seafoam green. It is a great bass, I highly recommend this instrument. It is the lone precision bass out of the Fender Vintera series, they also have a 60s jazz and mustang bass along with a 70s jazz bass. I always wanted a p bass with the nice 1.75 width and a maple fretboard. Nice vintage laquer that really gives it that vintage look.
I love that rich red color against the gold anodized pickguard. Looks fantastic! Unfortunately, having to take off the neck off to adjust it would be a deal-breaker for me. I think you can replace the pickguard with one that has a groove in it for your screwdriver that may alleviate that problem.
I just got one of these (I'm new to bass in general) and something that confused me is that the promo images show holes in the pick guard for thumb rest and pickup cover, yet mine, nor this one has those holes. Does anyone know why?
Hey Bob, that is some fine review, thank you very much. Great playing, plus you adress all important issues that users want to know about. Subscribed :-)
You can adjust the neck without removing it with a number one flat head screw driver it will fit in each part of the x...it shows this in old manuals..so no need to remove the neck
I remember you did a video about the Nate Mendel signature - different specs but "similar" product range. What are your thought comparing the twos? Do you think there's an "objective" edge in either of those? Re. the trussrod: I have a 2007 Fiesta Red Classic 50s (which I still think is basically the same you played, only made 10+ years earlier in a slightly different shade of red) and yes, I think the neck is averagely stable enough. But I agree on wishing for a different access to the rod - and possibly a double-action one too, which is not the case here. Unfortunately, the paint on my Classic 50s easily chips around the neck pocket, and the neck is really tight in there, so I had to fix it myself gluing it back when lifting/removing the neck for truss rod adjustment - it happened a couple of times and it wasn't pleasant. You can hardly see the fix unless you zoom in, but it's nevertheless annoying. The paint on the edge of the pocket was almost a separate layer from the wood, ready to chip.
Thank you for the review, what you pointed out about the truss rod being hidden, is a deal breaker for me. A shame, for such a nice bass. No one said a thing about the truss rod on other reviews, I guess that's it. I thought the truss rod access was the tear shaped thing we see at the headstock, like in modern Fender. But again, taking a close look at the pictures on their website now, it seems like they just painted that? which is extremely confusing and weird. It's like painting a knob on a knobless door, I'm either wrong or they're kind of twisted.
It looks like a neck access to me.... maybe I'm wrong.... I'll just stick with my Seabreeze Stingray...easy to adjust and plays 10x better than any P Bass
The neck has a hole for a long Allen wrench....I had an 88' teal metallic Mexican Squire P Bass (My first bass and I stupidity pawned it not knowing how rare it was...)
I' m so happy to see a bass player ,more or less like my age , making goods reviews .
Thanks, Massimo!
Thanks Massimo!

Thanks Don! Love that seafoam green!
Hi Bob, great review btw I always have my luthier cut a truss rod access channel into the body unless its; an actual pre-cbs bass.
Hey, that's a good idea, they should just add it from the factory.
I really love your reviewing style. No nonsense, honest, and straight to what's important. Terrific playing too! Subscribed.
Thanks Belman5! Much appreciated!
I tried that playing bass and I loved the feel of the neck. I’d like to pick one up at some point. Nice color as well.
Hey DeGeest, you won't be sorry!
Awesome video man !!! Love the color combo on it. Maybe one day I will own one.
Thanks, Mikee!
great review and really nice playing too!
Glad you liked it!

Thanks for your comment, Steve! I agree!

Nice playing sir

The truss rod is in the headstock? Am i right?
No it's in the neck heel. The same as a vintage Fender.

You might be able to touch that with the screw driver but you can't turn it without it gouging the pickguard and/or body.

The Vintera is very similar to the classic 50 that you have. A little nicer and lighter I think. Very different than the nate mendel
Cool Bass! Great video Mr. Bob!
Thanks Drake!

Hey Citizen 9, yeah, that's the one drawback.

Bob is that not the trust rod adjustment at the headstock? Or is that a shadow?
Shadow

I like the bass but the neck isn't chunky enough
She's beautiful
Thanks Faris!
