Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you just put in "in ground" garden soil. It's meant to be mixed in with existing soil for in ground planting. Basically, you just put a partially broken down mulch in your beds, which has no nutrients. You need planting mix or raised bed soil in your raised beds. They have different needs. Trust me, I made the same mistake - once. Mix in some good quality compost & you'll have a better growing medium.
Good news - Putting the cardboard on the bottom was a good idea. It will deter weeds somewhat, but earthworms love it & you'll start seeing them in your beds & they'll help break down that in ground soil.
You can probably find a local place that sells compost by the cubic yard. It's about $45 in my area. It's the best thing to use to top off all of your beds. You'll see a big difference.
If it says “garden soil” I’m sure anything will grow in it👍😁
we have compost that we will be adding .......
@@countryroadcure👍
👍
Great advice. Container soul is much better add some or compost and your plants should do fine. I have made the same mistake. Happy growing.❤❤❤
Rox, 2 things. The bags you added need more soil, add a couple bags of miracle grow potting soil to those new flower beds. It will enhance the growing. Also to keep cats out of the garden give them a spot with sand. Then show it to them. They will go use it like a litter box instead of your garden beds
Nope you need to fill the beds up more ...soon as the rain comes or you water it's going to pack down more ...add some perlite and moss and that will help....also if you filled the first few inches with leaves it will help too ...cardboard on the bottom helps keep the weeds out...also if you have gophers and you put the same stuff that you built the rabbit cages with the wire on the bottom and then cardboard it helps stop gophers
I bought 20 acres in the Ozarks in 1978. I wish I still lived there. Happy Trails to you and your family.
It may have been the 20 acres I bought...😂😅😊
Thanks, you too!
I’d like to see the baby bunny updates every single video❤
Great idea putting cardboard in the bottom of your beds. I would then add a layer of leaves before adding the soil.
Yes the leaves will bring in the worms and the worms will turn them into free compost. Win win😊
Those baby bunnies sure are stinking cute... The garden looks amazing... Cheers for sharing...
That pocket screw jig is a great time-saver. The gate turned out great!
if theres any garden supplies or nurseries around there you can usually get your garden soil in bulk... remember...they are food ..lol
The gate looks nice. Those baby bunnies are so precious.
What are they doing with the bunnies?
Happy spouse, happy house! That's what I tell my hubs every now and then. Anthony, your editing skills are spot on!
Thanks so much! 😊
Or happy wife, happy life.😂😂😂
Everything you do is with care and your place is so neat and clean. You are fabulous stewards of your animals and of your land. I applaud all your efforts. Your rabbits, chickens, dogs all have excellent care and are in the shaded parts of your place. Shade in the summer, leaves are gone in the winter, and they have some sun. American made all the way!
Rox and Ant, Fantastic Garden Fence ! The baby bunnies are so cute 🥰
Garden is gonna be AMAZING 🤩
A trick I always use is to fill with lots of leaves over the cardboard then fill with garden soil. This adds great compost as it decays.
Great job on the garden. My dad tried raising rabbits one time. He “processed” one and couldn’t do any more. He ended up giving them away.
Wow your trellis archway is gorgeous, it really is .
All those pink blossoms, I am so jealous! Where I live its still all white. Grrr, winter!
Great job on garden fence and gate.
Good things are happening at CRC !
Nice Gate!! Those Baby Bunnies are Adorable!! ❤❤❤
This is a really lovely project! You're going to really love this come August when everything in and around your garden is thriving!!! ❤❤❤
Good Morning, Have a great day!
Roxanne can't wait to see what you plant in your flower beds and the bunnies are so sweet ❤️🇨🇦
I love everything you two do and always a great job😊
Always great to see what has been accomplished ❤❤❤
Beautifully awesome everywhere!
Whatever she is going to do it will be great ❤
I really enjoyed this video. Nature and your growing homestead. No need for words.
Loving Roxanne’s garden, great job guys.
Rabbits were born just in time for Easter 🐣
Hi from Australia 🇦🇺 👋
Gate Master extraordinaire!❤
Great video. Everything is looking great. Those baby bunnies stole the show, though. Too cute. Thanks for the update. Have a Great weekend.
Awwwww! The Baby Bunnies are Adorable! 🤗❤️
Awwwwww..them baby bunnies are adorable ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Love the bunny updates! Be sure to get a bungee cord, to latch the gate open to the fence, for those days you are wheelbarrowing things in and out on a work day. I had them on both front & back gates in my garden.
Adorable bunnies!!! 🥰❤️🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰❤️🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🏡
I hope it works out for you, but garden soil is for in ground gardening where you mix it with the native soil. Directions are on the bag if you still have one. I’d get raised bed mix next time, but maybe it will be ok 💚
Roxane has literally proved every single negative comment wrong the past 2 years lol , I GUARENTEE yours will be proved wrong as well
Sorry if it seemed like a negative comment, didn’t intend it that way & I’m sure it probably will be fine@@countryroadcure
You have free garden dirt in the woods called leaf mold. It grows great plants. Mother always used it. Good luck with gardening.
I love your family, love watching your journey, love how everything’s so beautiful, your Kentucky fan
Good day all
Everything is looking so nice! Anthony you did a great job with the gate! Roxanne, your flower beds are going to be so pretty once the seeds begin to bloom! Finally, the baby rabbits are adorable! So cute to see them being held in the palm of your hands Anthony! Lovely
Great job from Michigan
Love the garden entrance. The rakemaster camera made me really dizzy & motion sick though😢
Yes did not enjoy rake camera
I know you have a compost area, why are you not using some of it for the flower beds along with the soil Rox is putting there? Peat moss is also a great addition to the raised beds as it tends to keep the soil loose. In my raised beds I use Black Cow from Lowe's. Rox, the bed is lined with metal, the soil is going anywhere.
The garden area is beautiful
Everything is coming together. Now, hopefully the garden will grow half as much as the fencing looks great...😂😅 Love what ya'll are doing 😊
Looking great
Suggestions get yourself bags of top soil and peat moss and mix 1 to 1
Also get a spring hinge to close gate after you
Can’t wait to see your flowers and what you planting and omgoodness those rabbits are so adorable
Roxanne you got a great husband that likes to build these things and I love the bunnies
Gate looks great! Love the baby bunnies 😊❤
The gate looks really nice.Hope it keep the animals out. Can't wait to see what you will plant in the flower beds.
Love baby bunnies
The garden area is beautiful. Good job.❤❤
I said it before and I’m going to say it again Ant is the king of editing.
Thanks Tammy :) I try hard on each video
The garden area looks great!
You’ve got the loudest chickens!
Anthony, to keep the cats out of the flower beds, maybe build removable frames the size of the bed with a brace in the middle, and put the same screening on it as you used on the fence. Rox could remove them when she’s working in the flower beds, and set them back on top when she’s finished to keep the cats out.
I love what the two of you have done with the garden. The next thing you should do is put some of the landscaping screening around your beds like Mel and Gary did theirs, to keep the weeds down, and eliminate the need for weed wacking around the beds. Lord knows you are going to have your hands full just taking care of the fruits and vegetables you are growing.
I’m wishing you both a huge beautiful garden to feed and nourish your family.🍉🍇🍓🫐🍈🍅🍆🫛🥦🥬🥒🌶️🫑🌽🥕🧄🧅🥔🍠
Great gate, Ant!
Loving the garden makeover!
You can put wood in the flower beds and it munches over time. You don't need that much soil.
Happy to see you placed the gate brace properly 😊Good job!
Anthony have you considered spraying your fence & lace wood with some water seal, since this area will be exposed to so much water during the growing season 😊
Love all of y’all videos love from East Texas❤
They are Absolutely Adorable!!!! The gate looks Absolutely Great!!! The flower bed look Great too!!! God Bless Us All!!!
To keep the cats out if your new beds, you can place hardware cloth across the top. Just a suggestion....
Hi Ant, just watching the screwing of the gate frame and thought; both you and Gary need to have a collection of clamps to help with your constructions. Sash clamps, sliding f clamps of a few sizes. They are a great asset for getting work held while you drill and screw. They are like having extra hands when you need. Once you start using them you start rethinking how you work to make it easier. You nearly need a bunny cam so you don’t disturb them too much. They are looking good aren’t they. G’day Rox.
Anthony I think the black one is your favorite.
Bunnies are so cute! Thanks for sharing🐇
Roxanne I bet you can't wait to get "Rockin an Rollin " in that garden!! Looks real nice what Anthony has created for you!! ❤ Sending blessings!! Mamma Carolyn
Looks fabulous ❤
Ant and Rox, amazing video, enjoyed the candid shoots of Ant, baby bunnies, wild bunny , cat and dog snap and the gate for the Garden and the chicken chucking in their pens and the beautiful shot of Mother Nature 👩🏼 ❤😊
Thank you , we take pride :)
You guys did a great job on the fence. Really looks nice out there especially the view!😊
Amazing intro and transition into video!!! I thoroughly enjoyed it...the entire video actually, as usual!
HUGGS!!!
You could of put some small stones over cardboard, soil can get water logged
Nice, getting some rose bushes or grapevines to grow up over your garden door entry would be nice
Hi Guys. That is a lovely gate you made for the garden, but surely you dont expect it to keep out the animals, especially the cats., who are prolific climbers/jumpers. I can envisage quite clearly the cats jumping over that gate and using the garden as its personal toilet. As they will with the front flower boxes. Hope I'm wrong. I have to say though that you have done a wonderful job with the entire fence and not forgetting the dog area as well. Looking forward to seeing your garden grow this year, good luck.
we only want to keep out wild rabbits
my apologies, I wrongly thought that it was to keep out both wild and domestic creatures. But like I said congratulations on a well built sturdy fence I look forward to seeing the plants grow and blossom.
Cool gate. The garden is going to be so nice....
The babies are so dang cute❤
First week of March and your daffodils are already up and blooming? Must be nice... Here in Minnesota I wait until the first or second week of April... though they start to shoot up about the end of March. I love to see all the different things you have going on... thanks for sharing so much of your life with us.
Rox mix in some peat moss 😅in your beds. It will help fill & to retain moisture in the soil. Great job y'all.
That looks stunning Anthony. xx
Beautiful baby
Helping you guys out, it’s called soil not dirt.
Super cute😊
I like to put cardboard and straw down then add soil. When the cardboard and straw break down it will enrich the soil.. Last fall I put cardboard, maple leaves and straw on top and now my soil is so rich…but you have a compost pile which will help you. I will be starting one soon.
@DAILY VIBE
ALWAYS LOVE ANIMAL UPDATES! I TURN INTO GOOFY (OHHH GORSH, THEY'RE SOOOO CUTE!!) WHENEVER YOU SHOW THE BUNNIES 🥰 AND I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED HEARING THE CHICKENS. HOW HAVE THE GIRLS BEEN LAYING THE LAST WEEK?
So cute
❤😊
Anthony who said you weren't a great craftsman!! A good friend of mine Rick is just like you!! And I've seen his excellent work doing things in my home throughout the years!! Your certainly at his caliber!! It looks like your making a door? Like the natural sounds in the background while you're working!! Nice touch along with great cinematic video!! Class A!! Gate Master!! ❤ Sending blessings!! Mamma Carolyn
Everything is looking good..Nice gate & garden beds..
I love your photography and video editing. The views and close up footage is great along with the wildlife photography.
Thank you very much!
Cover the top of your bed with weed cloth. Cut X’s in the weed cloth where you want to plant your flowers. then plant your plants in the middle of the x. No weeds. I did this last summer. Worked great. Works great with veggies too. No problem with watering! The water goes right through the weed cloth! Love the baby bunny clips. You’ve guys made me excited about working outside again I was out yesterday placing my pavers for sidewalk between the garage and the house. today it’s raining and tomorrow I’m going to do some work in my garden.
I like the gate and rake master 9000 cam
The Fort Smith landfill sales composted yard waste (leaves and branches) for around 12$ a yard. much cheaper than all those bags.
If you had any of your own compost, you could have added that to the beds also. Just a suggestion.
I always love your intro shots. I can’t wait to see you all at the meet up in May. Warm you ahead of time I’m a hugger.
I'm also a hugger :)
Good afternoon Ant & Rox
Love your gate. Flowers coming 🌻 💛
Have a great day
Good afternoon 🌞 the gate is very nice - good job Anthony 👌 Roxane, your flower boxes are going to be beautiful - looking forward to see what uou have planned 😉 The baby bunnies are so cute 🥰
Great baby bunny footage! It doesn't matter how old you are, cute is the only word that aptly describes them! ❤❤
Its your lives. Just happy you're willing to share your life journey. Hint miracle grow will make big plants ..maybe not lots of tomates
Ground up egg shell is great dug in around tomatoes. They thrive in the extra calcium in the soil.
