Good video. The two bikes mentioned as not in the drop shop are rewards for completing challenges. You get the Tarmac after completing California, and the Emonda on the first stage of the Everest challenge.
So I went for the Canyon Ultimate as my climbing bike, mostly because I have a Canyon Endurace IRL and they sort of look similar at a glance. That's also why my go-to aero bike is the Aeroad 😂
Thank you so much for doing these tests. I'd like to see one for the best frameset/wheel combo for flat/hilly rides and if they help in the pack. I just use the Specialized Tarmac Pro and ENVE 3.4 lightest climbing bike for everything, but I'd like recommendations for the flatter roads and group. Not a TT bike and maybe level 20-ish or less attainable stuff with enough drops? Thanks Chris! Also congrats on winning Paris-Roubaix! Still wanted the cocoa smudged face for the look!! Cheers!
Thanks Chris. For me the Fastest Bike up the Alpe is still the Tron, I bought the Zwift Safety Bike when it was the fastest but I still had a better time with the Tron. The Tarmac Pro with the Lightweight Wheels has come a close second to the Tron, having completed 266 Alpe Climbs I will keep trying most of these newer bikes/wheels set ups . With all those 16+ Million Drops I've earned I want the best ! Keep posting the videos Chris really enjoy.
Hello Chris, great info there on the Zwift videos, you re killing it, please, keep them coming!!!! :-) I got a bit confused, the Cannondale Evo did not got better results on previous tests? and one more question: is the Zipp 202 the best option for climbing the Alpe du Zwift? (before you get lucky on the Lightweight wheels on top of the Alpe), (so much info to me to cope with, lol!!! thank you in forehand... you deserve 10X of subscribers, always great contend!!!
Hey Pritch, very good job on presentation and research. I started Zwifting recently and this information is very useful! Looking forward for my first lightweight Zwift bike and pair of wheels :)
I got the Tarmac Pro and Meilenstein wheels. Using this combo for every uphill race (like the Haute Route events). Also I'm a proud virtual owner of the Emonda. For flat tracks and everything in between I have the concept bike. Oh and you should mention: When you're going for the concept bike don't forget to log your elevation gain for the everest challenge!!! I did my first 12000m elevation gain on Zwift with the California challenge selected.
Could it be that the Zwift algorithm is designed to have (slightly) different outcomes of racing/climbing each time you ride. Perhaps to prevent people only choosing the quickest setup. Did you ever did dayly/weekly tests with the same setup on the same course with equal power output? Just wondering :-)
I've used Tarmac Pro + Enve 3.4 wheels for Haute Route and it is my combo for hilly rides (until I unlock those Lightweight Meilenstein wheels :-)). But for looking good on Zwift, I go for Trek Madone and Zipp 808s. Oh yeah!
I’d like to ride the two bikes I own in real life, the specialized tarmac and the Cervelo S5. I had them since before I joined zwift without knowing they are two of the fastest bikes on their categories. Now I can’t wait to own them on Zwift too!!
Hey Chris, great video as always. Just a heads up for the bike testing on the flat, Wheels have a much greater impact on the flat than the frames do. Using Zwift insiders data (while old his climbing order matches yours apart from the update to the safety bike) on his flat test my analysis showed the best frame (non-tron) only got a 0.54% improvement vs the Zwift Carbon bike while the best wheel set got a gain of 1.71% (Zipp 858/Super 9 vs the zwift 32mm carbon). Even more interesting, just using the Enve 3.4's still got a better relative improvement than the best flat bike frame (non-tron). Again though, this is using the older data so things might have changed now? Cant wait to see your test results. Also, if you want some fancy charts made up that you can stick in the video hit me up :)
What power difference is there between elevating your front wheel 8% versus leaving your bike on the flat? That would be an interesting test since climbing involves climbing muscles.
Ta-Da?! Who are you and what did you do to Chris?! Ooosh! Also, the new CH-shirt seems to be purposefully designed to show off your guns. Just noticed. ;D
Wait! I did Alpe du Zwift two nights ago for the first time (137:36.53). And the Edmonda unlocked! I’m level 17. I was just happy to have finally done the climb, and I grabbed the Trek as soon as I finished. So, somehow, someway, the Emonda is still available.
No worries. Thanks for the great channel. My triathlon club is using your top 10 climbs list as a basis for our weekly Zwift Tuesday night meetup to pass the time away while quarantining here in the States. The Alpe du Zwift was our first. Best regards. Stay well
I know some people are training at home, but the weather where I live is finally getting nicer so my training has headed outdoors. The best part is, there's less cars on the road so it feels safer out there. I ride alone so I'm social distancing.
hi i unlocked tarmac pro when i was lev 11...then few weeks back...i dont know what happen suddenly out of nowhere that old tarmac sort of poped in in my collection never bought it suddenly was there dont know what happened...but i dont mind in the end :)
looks over stats? .... Looks! is everything! is the only thing! where else your drops your real sweat drops make you earn a very very cool looking Bike! (zwift of course) currently on level 17 and my savings are on a 1.200.000 drops but my cool looking bike still not avaliable on my level yet!
This is a good video because it has demonstrated to me that there really is no difference between these bikes. Clearly the 1st bike, an outlier, has been discontinued probably because the new algo has significantly affected its performance. As for the others, apart from one, they are identical (within a sec) and that is ignoring margin for error. Honestly people are nuts if they take this seriously. Saying that, what would of been more useful would be to see if there is a significant difference between the stock frame/wheels and any of the bikes tested in this video. You need to have a baseline. The Zwift programmers must be pissing themselves laughing thinking that people take this seriously. I am going to keep my hard earned virtual currency and wait for Zwift to issue an NFT or some other worthless digital asset and buy that instead. Rant over!
I used the Specialized Tarmac Pro a couple of weeks ago and did AdZ in 62:xx. Shit bike.......... I jest 😜. I need to average .1w/kg more up that damn climb to get the sub 60 achievement. Nearly there!

I think BC and Zwift could've avoided the proverbial stepping on the garden rake/Cam situation if they'd have just locked everyone in the competition into the same Safety-bike, tbh. Even when it was better rated.
Chris I have almost 10 million drops, I’m a zwiftllionare , hook me up with some nice rims and I ll pay you under the table 😂😂😂😂 I have so many frames and wheels I barely know what to do with them, I usually use Tron, long rime algo you could pair Tron with the Millstein wheels, now that shat was fast 😄😄😄😄😬😬😬🤩🤩

That he got a ban for it just shows British Cycling and whoever else organised it has no clue how to do "eSports" yet, or at least they didn't at the time.
The regular Cannondale evo that is available at level 8 is a faster climber than the supersix. Give it a test. Agree with you though that if the race or route you are doing is more that just a trip up the mountain, the fastest climber not always the best choice. Safety bike only suitable for the richest man in Watopia.
Good video Chris. I get a kick out of your control numbers; 170 cm tall? Does that seem short? At least use average height of 176.5. That might make a difference? Average European weight is 156kg. Ok, I'm being a jerk, good job again Chris.
Regarding the safety bike. I think that people at Zwift are poking fun at those people who buy overpriced boat anchors of steel made in the Netherlands. The boutique unracer brand bikes and hipsters buying them by making it the most expensive and the most inept bike in the drop shop.
WTF if this were based on real world bike ratings the 2014/2016 Cannondale supersix evo HM would have to be number 1 or in top 3. Specialized tarmac pro is nice but its heavy as hell stock. I have a 2015 supersix evo hm 58cm with ksyrium slr's Exalith aluminum and 28mm tires and the bike is 14lbs.. 13.5 with 23mm tires. What about the Cannondale Evo.? 4 Stars weight 2 stars aero cheap plus you can unlock it early on.
Late to the party here, but thanks to you, I cracked the hour today (59:10) with the Trek Emonda and Lightweight wheels. Thanks for the intel!
You earn the Trek Emonda by completing the Everest Challenge. The Tron bike comes from doing 50000 meters of climbing

I've been using the Tarmac Pro/enve wheel combo for climbing for a while now. Didn't know the Tron bike was now so slow.
