I want you to know that the National Parks should be paying you for what you are doing. The reason we had a great time in Yellowstone back in September was because of you, and all the information you gave before we went made the trip go Great. Thank you for all you do! And please keep it up!!!
Well, as I said, I don't think the upper brass in the park will be too stoked on my coverage of some issues that are unfolding on public lands. So I guess I'll stick to UA-cam. Thanks for your support and compliment.
The reason our Parks and public lands are so appreciated and utilized is due to the availability of internet content such as that produced by PJ. I started following so I could have an idea what was going on in Yellowstone during the floods, having spent a great deal of time in the park. The providers of this content actually provide free advertising to the Park Service, etal.
I don't think, at this point, whether or not visitors have a great time in the National Parks is all that high on their priority list. They'd rather you have to just show up at the park, hang around for a few hours and then get the heck out.
I found this channel right before our trip last summer as well. I'll keep watching.
Exactly! Park Junkie was an ambassador for the national parks and a GREAT ONE at that!!
I am so sick of this government.
This has appeal written all over it, possibly class action The park service has been at this for decades going back to still photographers who happen to sell a print being dragged into court, only to have it thrown out and the parks getting their hands slapped.
Class Action may be a thought... Just need more content creators to say hey, wtf?
UA-cam has “skin in the game”. Whether our content is monetized or not the lion’s share of the revenue goes to Google/UA-cam.
And if creators stop producing content on public land I would think that represents a good percentage of content on UA-cam?
Seems like Google/UA-cam should be engaged Politically and Legally. Politically they support this. Perhaps because the big creators can afford the fee. And this would limit competition from small or new content creators.
My UA-cam channel is small and serves a very small audience. Promoting responsible use on motorized multiple use trail’s. I buck thousands of down tree’s, brush and bench the trails I ride. I burned ten gallons of bar oil in my chainsaws in 2022. The bar oil alone costs more than $200.00. I make $120.00-$300.00 annually on UA-cam.
I will be speaking with my Congressman and my Senators about Legislation to address this issue.
How do volunteer trail project’s get promoted? Without OHV volunteers a huge number of motorized multiple use trails would return to nature.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention PJ, I will be contacting my representatives today (with ever dwindling hope that they actually listen to us). This is a travesty and just another example of how our gov't in their infinite wisdom and multi-layered bureaucracy continues to devolve and cannot see the forest through the trees. Thank you for what you do in educating us followers - as so many others have stated, you helped make our Yellowstone trip in late August epic. Keep doing you PJ and we'll be here supporting you in any way we can! Stay safe!
Thank you Jeff, we all must contact these reps... Not sure what it will do, but who knows.
Content creators attract more people to the parks then the NPS does. Most wouldn't know anything about the parks without you guys! You are awesome and I will support every video you put out. Thanks for your hard work in the parks.
Not really a glowing recommendation since most parks are horrendously overcrowded now! The last thing they need is folks encouraging even more folks to go! Just sayn'.
Bringing more irresponsible people that don’t follow leave no trace in my experience. More people has equaled more trash in my area.
I appreciate you for speaking up and enlightening us!!! I love your content! Thank you!!😊💕
Excellent message on a disturbing issue. When he said his butt had been wiped, he forgot to mention what it was wiped with and that unfortunately was with our Constitution. 😔
I just want to agree with so many here, your videos have been very informative and educational. We’re from Alabama and decided to take a cross country vacation this past summer largely due to the information from parkjunkie. Thanks again for what you do, not only for us, the people, but also for the parks. And again it was great running into you at the Grand Lodge. Keep trekking my friend!
As you mentioned we found your channel while we were looking for information about the flooding of yellowstone, as we were planning a trip. You got just the info we needed! Since then we use your channel to get information about all the parks we visit. I hope you and all the other content creator stay strong.
I'm with you 100%. The rules and the appeal ruling make no sense.
I watched Jason the day his video came out. In his own polite way, he was pissed! I agree with you and Jason. Filming that entails production with infrastructure should require permitting and certainly a fee to defray costs, not what you and so many others do. Can you imagine a school trip with grade school kids out having a great outdoor experience and just want to document a few scenes having to go through permitting? People like you and thousands more are creating informative, beautiful content many can enjoy. I can't tell you how many commentors respond, "I'll never be able to go to or do what you do. Thank you for bringing me along". THAT is priceless!
Yes, Jason is a much more diplomatic spokesman than I, but I think he understands the issue very clearly. His breakdown of the story was the only thing out there at this time. There are a couple of articles written online, but no coverage of the story from any legacy media outlets.
I'm stoked to have you along as we stroll through the hills my friend.
I wondered why you haven’t uploaded in the last month. You were definitely missed. This ruling is tyrannical. Tyranny is becoming common place, and we the people must fight back for our rights. Your videos are free publicity for our park systems. You encourage us to visit the great outdoors. We need your window into the gift of the national park system. I’m so sorry PJ. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Peace and love sent your way.
Yeah, just had to wrap my head around some things and gain some insight in the desert. Sorry for my absence. Thanks for your support Snickers
Thanks, Park Junkie, for calling attention to this ruling. I was wondering why you hadn't uploaded for a while, as I always look forward to your adventures - both learning from you and appreciating the beauty of our parks that you share. Your content was extremely helpful this summer when I had a year-long reservation to visit Yellowstone a month after the flood, and I truly hope this ruling is overturned so you can keep providing these types of services. Without your updates, I may have canceled my trip and missed out on a lifetime opportunity -- so my deepest thank you! It is so evident that you are passionate about our parks and lands, and as a nature-loving, backing packing soul, I appreciate your spirit!
Thanks for your comment Denise. I'm stoked to hear you had a fab time in Yellowstone for the 150th! It was a crazy year out there, and those who ended up making the trip to our first national park had far fewer crowds than in past years. I'm glad to have you along on the journey, & thanks for your support.
This is infringement on our rights ! It’s so sad to see us going backwards instead of forwards with our constitutional rights ! I fear that they will do away with the parks altogether just to get the minerals rights for greed ! Our forefathers will be rolling in their graves if this is allowed ! We as Americans can never let this happen ! I’ve enjoyed ur contents on the parks especially during this pandemic cuz we couldn’t go there ! You’ve kept us sane and informed about areas now that are on my list to go to ! So thank you for this ! Carry on !
The News Networks should be held to this standard..they are not
I am one of those that used to love and enjoy the national parks and public lands as an avid hiker and backpacker. But as with age I have had to limit my experiences in these places, and I very much appreciate your content and others like yours. This is upsetting to hear of more overreach of the government now requiring a permit for your work filming as your first amendment right. In my lifetime I had the enjoyment of the parks for free and did not need to pay for backpacking permits and entrance fees, of course that was years ago. But its little by little they are taking more away from us. I often wonder how some families with children can even afford a day in the park with the fees. Thank you, Park Junkie, for your fight and continuing to make content. .
Hello. We are the Trail Hunters and we are just a small hiking channel from Tennessee. Much of our content is from the Great Smoky Mountains. We are devastated by this as it comes just as our channel began gaining traction. We stand with you and we also wish to do what we can to fight this!
And they'll continue to expand "public land" and eventually try to claim that public roads and parks and other places can't be used for content.
I live full time in my rv. I camp on public lands across the western states. I visit a lot of National Parks as well as various public lands. The only way I can live my lifestyle is because public lands exist. After 2 years out here I decided to share my experiences on YT - mostly from public lands. This scares the crap out of me. Not only about the freedom of speech but the fact that our public lands (our rights) are being taken slowly away and restricted. There’s various reasons why but I’ll focus on the fact that we’re being restricted and monetarily squeezed by the government that has more corporate interest than human interest.
This was my first video of yours I’m watching, I’ll be checking out your others. Thank you for your passion on this topic. I’m more than willing to put time and effort in supporting entities and people fighting this. I’ll do my research and keep watching you for more.
Thank you!
They've separated most of the public land in some states from the people who fund it. This can't be allowed to stand.
This is a big hit for people who enjoy visiting these places and want to plan their trips. Hope it gets overturned because I learned a lot on youtube from people like you.
Agreed, it's like they just want us all watching corporate media or something. 🤔
Another issue people don’t know much about are the issues with BLM starting to restrict access to areas by making them into wilderness areas. We are all for preservation of course, but changing the designation to wilderness restricts all sorts of access to huge amounts of places that are billed as ‘our lands.’ And I’m referring to the legal definition of wilderness. It’s a massive problem that no one talks about.
I just watched the RV Miles video a couple of days ago, and immediately thought of you and my other favorite UA-camrs. And that includes my son who just started a UA-cam channel (@journeywithryan) and some of his first videos he posted were of his and his wife's travels this past summer in Colorado, including Great Sand Dunes, and he's working on editing videos filmed at RMNP that will be posted soon! But even without his involvement on UA-cam, this issue still gets my blood pressure up! I've forwarded both your video & the RV Miles one to my son, and I intend to contact both our senators from Missouri, the great Josh Hawley & our amazing newly elected Senator Eric Schmitt! Both of these fine gentlemen have a strong record on pushing back against the current government overreach, with Schmitt doing so as our Missouri Attorney General! I also encouraged my son to contact his senators and representative in his state!
Nice, thanks for your support and best of luck to Ryan! Thanks for calling your reps! This will take some squeaking....
How do they think they can even police this. They don’t exactly have an over abundance of park rangers. This is such BS by the parks dept
Hi. There is a work around, Start a Production company with a LLC. Then as a normal citizen you can film all you want. Then you can donate the footage to the Production company? You can do this and there is absolutely nothing the courts can do about it. It's quite easy to do. It's a shame we the people seem to always have to come up with a work around. Hawk out!!
Nice input. I’ve been considering something such as this, but one would have to be able to drive traffic to it. I’m working on an idea. Thanks for your thoughts.
My taxes pay for the parks. I'm not stopping filming. They're "our" parks. I encourage a "make'm stop me attitude"
My suggestion if you film in public is to join a journalistic organization, such as the National Press Photographers Association, and call yourself a journalist. Freedom of Press, it's an entirely separate argument. We'll beat them one way or another.
Thank you for educating us…I share your anger and disgust. I appreciate your passion and continued efforts to combat this ridiculous regulation.
Thank you for speaking out! Thank you for your activism. As an avid outdoor person I have never agreed with the privatizing of any part of our public lands. I think this new ruling is bs.
Thanks for your thoughts Kitty. Unfortunately, I fear we are witnessing the privatization of so many aspects of the public land experience. Reservations are nearly all privatized - all fees associated with entrance permits, camping reservations, backcountry reservations, and lottery systems that go through Rec dot Gov are all going to a private company.
Unacceptable.
Your videos at the time of the Yellowstone flood were invaluable to my wife and me in carrying out a trip for the 60th anniversary of our meeting in the park. Might not have gone if we hadn't had such excellent information. I'm sure there are some people that can abuse the right to photograph, etc, but you show the great value of informed media access. Keep up the good work. Don't let them grind you down.
Thanks Big Fred! I am happy to hear your Yellowstone trip went well. Happy Anniversary!
As a creator who's channel is all about national parks and public lands as well, this is really disturbing. Gonna be following more to see if you have any updates in the future. I love my channel.its been an amazing addition to my life and building the content has been a major highlight of my life. I couldn't stop doing this. No way. Thanks for sharing your views and keep up the fight. These are our public lands! I will continue to film.
So ridiculous! That means every NP needs to pay its own fee and get a permit because every park has its own Facebook, twitter, etc profile.
It'll end up in the Supreme court and once again, SCOTUS will make a "law". 🙄 That's not how its supposed to work, but we live in weird times.
We are in the same boat. Hawaii just annouced we need a permit not just for National Park filming, but anywhere in the state of Hawaii. All the beach parks including anything on the water. We have been covering the eruptions of Kilauea and Mauna Loa for over two years and this situation pretty much puts our backs agains the wall. Looking for the letter in the mail that coming soon. Thank you for your video and we are with you 100%. Aloha
The state of Hawaii can't do that. Public photography is 100% legal in all 50 states!
Thank you for informing us. We as U.S. citizens must stand for our rights.
I emailed my congressmen about it. Our tax dollars shouldn’t be going to those parks if we can have freedom of speech or video on it
I am dumbfounded by this decision. I’m a photographer, and can set up a tripod, sit for hours waiting for the right lighting, sell the resulting photos, and that’s allowed. BUT, if I decide to film my photo shoot and publish it to UA-cam so other photographers can learn from it, I’m in violation. Moronic.
Thank you for covering this. I appreciate your passion and feel the same.
😮😮Thank you for this PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT PJ, which is a public service to a public audience. I hope a good attorney comes along who knows digital law to argue that digital platforms like UA-cam ARE A PUBLIC FORUM. I bet those judges were all over 50, because that generation doesnt get that virtual connection IS human connection. My inquiry is how is this digital mode of public communication any different, in its essence and concept, than the approved Mormons who physically stand in a brick and mortar facility (usually built with private funds, even on public lands) and in front of physical people - UA-cam is your “virtual” facility and “viewers” are your listeners, “congregating” to support each other’s belief systems. keep the reporting coming Park Junkie. We are listening.
Jeff and I have a UA-cam channel featuring travel/rv content. This rule is disgraceful. A complete violation of our rights. I am also a paralegal, and cannot understand how they can truly enforce this.
I TOO found the CHANCE OF A LIFETIME to go along the trail, get up personal with MOM and KIDS GRIZ to the over look of Lake Yellowstone!
I agree! I wrote my congressman and he just thanked me for my "views" and then went on to blah, blah, blaaaah. This is ridiculous and the most absurd thing going. You mean to tell me that with the state that things are in today, that this is enforced when other atrocities are happening with no thought to reform?
I’m curious, did your representative seem dismissive of the issue? They all pay lip service to free speech, but their true intentions are shown by their action. I’d be interested to know how your rep responded. You can email me through my website contact page at parkjunkie.com
Thanks for your efforts!
This policy/ruling is a tragedy. The content you and other UA-camrs provide is a valuable servive. If a permit is going to be required, the NPS should enable a streamlined process that facilities same day approval on location with the fee for 1 person film crews included with the standard entrance fees.
I'm in England, but I can see this happening here as well.
It's sad what is happening.
Thank you for bringing this to everyone's notice, as I have shard this for my friends in the US, so they don't end up in court and fined.
I have also subbed and look forward to watching your videos.
Yeah, I'm sure the trajectory of legal restrictions are not far behind across the pond. Thanks for sharing.
I would love to be on so many of the hikes you share on UA-cam and giving me insight to the slightly less risky but still an adventurous journey without endangering my family is a safety factor for me. Thank you for all your content you share.
I'm very appreciative for your channel. I found you from you showing us about the yellowstone flood and I'm glad I did. You are correct on all accounts
The NPS policy only requires a permit for filming with the INTENT to generate income. The fact that you generate revenue from UA-cam does not, in itself, establish intent to generate INCOME. If your intent is to educate, as you say here, and you get some revenue incidentally, then you don't need a permit. If your operation consistently LOSES money, as you say here, and that has not deterred you from continuing, that is evidence that you have no INTENT to generate income (if the NPS tried to cite you, which I doubt they would).
I don't get how the INTENT to generate income should matter in any way. That is ridiculous! Don't we have a right to earn a living? In fact, Todd is doing an advertising service for the Parks since I learn about places I didn't know about and want to visit.
Well, as the rule can be interpreted, since UA-cam makes money on it, it can be considered commercial. But I agree with the comment by Gail below. My income from this project should in no way be relevant to the fact that someone with a phone and a tripod has the right to free speech, and to record that free speech. I doubt they will go after many UA-camrs as well. But it appears that they hope to hang fear of the state over the heads of content creators, while saying in the next line that their main focus will be on filming that is large scale.
Sort of taunting the people and winking at them. Sure, it's illegal to do this, but we'll look the other way.. unless we don't like what you say.
What if that park ranger does not like your content? What if that park ranger just doesn’t like the clothes you wear? The hairstyle you wear? The nose ring in your nose? Those tattoos on your arm? Or on your face? What if that ranger just doesn’t like your race? Your gender? Your religious affiliation? What if that ranger just doesn’t like YOU?
This is certainly the suppression of free speech.
Make the rule clear, so everyone knows.
@@theparkjunkie Come'on - - that last paragraph is pure conjecture and appeals purely to emotionalism. Are you credentialed press? Anyone can just print up a badge that says "PRESS" and claim to be press under your definition. Since you went to school, you aware that you're liable for anything you say. That being said - you're right... it's a big overreach on NPS's part. Can they restrict tripods? Yes, for everyone's safety. This is where the 1A argument gets slippery. A legitimate business concern should just pay the permit as a cost of doing business and that income go to cover any costs incurred in production such as extra rangers, crowd control, etc. This is clearly not you. But let's keep this argument grounded in reason.
@@gails-connor3289 Well Gail, the purpose of the law requiring permits (constitutional or not) is to give the land-owner (the U.S. public) a piece of the profits earned through use of its land for these enterprises.
Basically the same as any business, one pays his suppliers
Keep up the fight! I appreciate the travels you take me on. Thanks for what you do!
Thanks for bringing this to light, good on ya! Keep us in the loop and keep up the good fight!
So I can take a photo and sell it on iStock, paint a picture and sell it on Etsy, or write a book about my hike and sell it on Amazon… no permit required? But if I upload a video to UA-cam, I have to provide 2 weeks notice, spend an hour of time, send $100 fee, wait god only knows how long for a reply, and hope that they don’t say no? Why discriminate against video in particular versus other forms of creative expression? And since when did the park service become the IRS?
So men can magically become women but people can't film nature on PUBLIC lands?
This world is doomed.
Typical government crap. They tax you then want another fee for breathing the air. LAND OF THE FEE
I hope the case goes to the supreme courts.
I’m grateful for your efforts here.
Thank you, it hopefully will, so it is made clear that we, as citizens of a country that was built around the concept of "freedom" have every right guaranteed by our founding document. But, it may not get there, if the "en banc" rehearing goes well, that will suffice for me at this time. Not sure when that will be heard, but I'll be letting you know.
Your journalistic intellect brought so much true news regarding the flooding, no news broadcasts offered helpful information during that scenario the US Park Service should be grateful as I am. **I would initiate a case based on well freedom of speech but also a service for even those whom are disabled, you go to places that I can only dream about, I am so grateful to see your journeys through public land. Call the ADA!
Thank you! Your thoughts are appreciated. There may be an access argument in here somewhere... There are a lot of arguments in the defense of free speech and press, as well as religion and access... So many arguments.... Thanks for your support!
Thank you for covering this very important issue, and thank you for your willingness to join the fight.
Thank you for covering and explaining this! Seems like even normal YT'ers will be affected , based on the content they produce, by this ruling! Interesting
I've passed a point in my health were I cannot do the hiking like I use to. I would love to hike half dome but that will never happen. I hiked mount Washburn in Yellowstone took me 3+ hours to the top. ( I am 55 and did this when I was 50 ) I have had arthritis for 40 years now. Hikes gross morning mountain the year after and had my first knee surgery then 2020 full knee replacement that didn't go well. So watching your channel it lets me live by viciously through your videos. I hope all of you videographer find a way thru this.
What a summit eh? The view from Washburn is incredible, as it lies in the center of the park. You can see it all from up there! Thanks for watching, I'm happy to have you along for the ride.
As always, spot on with your observations - and they are very much appreciated. Looking forward to seeing this ruling appealed and overruled, hopefully sooner rather than later.
Thanks Laidback. Thanks again for reaching out, I appreciate your input. I'll be looking out for information on the "en banc" hearing that Price's attorneys requested in mid Sept. This could overturn the thing immediately, but I don't see any updates at this time. We'll see... & hope for the best with that one!
Agree with you 100%. I just started an overlanding channel mostly for fun, but all the same totally disheartening to learn this.
Thank you, Todd, for all you've done, for all you do, and for all you WILL DO! Keep up the fight, my Friend!
Thank you Brother, GOING BIG, being on U tube and being able to share with all as info or simply to give others an adventure that they otherwise not have is the greatest! Awesome talk! Please come visit some time, we have much in common.
Thanks Todd for bringing this to our attention
The judicial system is broken and is in need of change
Yeah bro, I think the justice system is what it is. This ruling will hopefully be overturned once reheard by an en banc panel of judges. I haven't seen this case listed on the schedule of the court tho, so I'm unsure of what's happening with it. We'll see where it goes.
Down memory lane is a good way to put it. My husband and I will never go to Yellowstone Thanks Park Junkie!!!
I love watching people showing Yellowstone, and the Grand Canyon. And a lot of other places that you tubers like your self because I’m old and I can not go to those places myself. I enjoy seeing the beauty of our country on our PuBLIC LANDS. We pay for for these public lands. We own the land not the parks dept.
Correct, public land is owned by the collective public... The NPS is ultimately a group of civil servants.
I am sorry to hear about this. Arches really started restricting access and I stopped going there. Some people like me rely on You tube for my nature experience and to visit places I will never be able to see in person.
I'm glad to take you out there Virginia... hope to get back there soon, & not get arrested...
Park Junkie, seems to me that UA-cam should want to challenge this. Their product can be directly hurt by this ruling. In the past the ACLU would be up for it, but who knows today. Your idea of getting together with other content makers is a good one. Don’t give up the fight. You are on the right side.
People have fought and died for these rights on battlefields across our country. Many of those battlefields are now public land. How ironic.
I hope this case goes to the Supreme Court. It’s high time all these unelected bureaucrats were reminded that they’re tasked with enforcing the law, not interpreting it nor writing it.
Correct, so now, if you wanted to make a short video honoring those brave folks who died on those battlefields, you'll need a permit, and that permit process is a nightmare.
Junkie: Keep doing what you’re doing. Forget it. Let them come after you. I serious doubt anybody from the NPS is gonna enforce this stupidity.
Gotta give those 80,000 + IRS agents something to do!!!
Just started this silly little overland channel. We stand with you and are willing to help. Let us know how we can do that and thanks for what you do!
On point, 300 million visitors and the parks haven’t been maintained for years. Absolute financial mismanagement.
Can you imagine a private enterprise that had more than 300m clients a year telling you they were broke...? 🤦♂️
@@theparkjunkie No, I couldn’t. I’m real happy that you pointed out Rec.gov is a private business! No one is gona charge me to put my feet on public land. One of my daughters teachers is a ranger at Old Faithful. I dare them to tell people they can’t take or post pics or videos or film at Old Faithful.
As a wildlife and Landscape photographer this really bothers me. I go to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons a few times at year. Mostly photography but video as well. So sad!
I'm shocked the updated policy came about during this regime. Shocked!
Hi Todd. Really appreciate your passion here and the things you've stated & shared to inform US lovers of our National Park Lands what were up against.. The fight has just begun. This was foretold in our Gov’t treatment of its native peoples. The Land was once the Creator’s now it’s the Gov’t’s as long as The People pay. I’m genuinely concerned these Parks won’t be around when my now teen daughter is in her 40’s and for her children. With the way they’re fiscally failing it's just a matter of time before some creep corporation destroy our beloved jewels like Yellowstone & Glacier. Contacting my Rep here in Oregon.
It's an absolute violation of freedom of speech, expression and press. It's obscene
When does it go into effect? How about dated videos..and how recent can a video be without getting dinged?
@@DTRBrianMallard I believe any published footage shot on NPS land requires a permit after October of 2022. There were regulations prior to February 2021 as well.
Wow, thanks so much for bringing this absurd ruling to light. This definitely needs to be appealed all the way to SCOTUS.
Does anyone remember that, during the government shut down during the Obama administration, the national parks basically adopted a "make it hurt" mentality and closed off access to many areas that didn't need to be closed off for any legitimate reason? They wouldn't even allow people to stroll into the Viet Nam war memorial area, which was basically a park and walk around situation. They also closed off access to other park areas which required no park employee staffing.
This dictatorial mentality similarly seems to be at play in this current restrictive policy against people being able to walk around with a video camera and produce content. I guess government regulators gonna regulate, and as thoroughly as they can.
Yes, I do recall that. I was in Zion during that time, and was still able to access lands because Utah said FU, and just funded their own parks for that period, as the parks are crucial to the financial well-being of Utah. Thus they fund the Mighty Five campaign.
The move by the NPS to shut down our national war memorials and monuments that are dedicated to those who have died for our freedoms is absolutely unacceptable.
For all the drama of the Trump years, at least he left the parks open during the government shutdown. I applauded that move, although most yelled and screamed about it like it was the end of time. As if they really wanted the parks closed... These are OUR parks, not the proverbial football that the govt can just take home from the field when they argue of petty differences in congress...
Thanks for the good point Marc
Freedom was won at Antietam, Manasis etc. These are public lands. So now the places that were Constitutional battlegrounds are off limits? Insane.
Todd,Your content means so much to us who can't go see these places ; because of age or disability, poverty or commitments. We get to participate vicariously in your explorations and the see the beauty of our country ,as well as be able to prepare for adventures in these places. We have your back ,the move to privatize and monetize our land is obscene and must be stopped.Talk to your damn congress critters and stop this .Thanx for the rant dude , this is crap.
Calling the Congress folk today. Please do the same. Thanks for the support Zava, I'm happy to have you along for the journey out there!
I've read a lot of comments here about the inspiration and information you and other UA-camrs provide to get people in the parks and enjoy them safely. I think a great idea is to communicate our opinions to the powers that be and point out that this is actually helpful to the parks systems and their patrons. Terrible ruling, and I agree we are losing more freedoms 😢 Write those letters, send emails, and make phone calls! Even if nothing changes soon, there will be a record of well thought out opposition to this policy change
Very disturbing developments. Your discussion was great and I agree with all of it. Faithfully subscribed.
In my old age and since Covid, I have made it a point to engage in civil disobedience. I don't hurt anyone and neither are you! Keep it up and thank you!
Awesome video man. Your passion is phenomenal. Fight the good fight brother!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I remember at one point the NPS was saying if you had "professional gear" you would need a permit. But that was a flawed argument because what constitutes "professional". There is no law or permit for someone to buy a RED camera. Someone can do paid - professional - work with an entry level camera.
Thank you for this update. Do you know if the decision is being challenged? For now, I'm going to stick with state parks. Many of them are just as amazing!
We totally agree with you PJ. You rock. Keep doing your very informative videos. All the best and stay safe.
I too film on federal lands. Will they really spend our tax dollars to go after youtubers? I can't imagine they have the resources to go after everyone nor should they. Hopefully the SCOTUS will hear this case and bring a common sense ruling. That being said, will UA-cam comply and start handing out strikes for videos filmed on federal land?
This is one more way our most sacred rights are being trampled. Thanks for bringing it to attention. If you need help fighting, I'm in.
I'm also disgusted with this law. Thanks for sharing your view.
Thanks for your comment. Now get involved in standing against this any way you can.

Unfortunately, you are not far from accurate. As my man Ice T said in a 1980s rap track: "Freedom of Speech... Just watch what you say"....
My partner and I are huge youtube folks. We are avid hikers and bikers and love exploring anytime we can. We just came across your channel with this information and are not happy about it. We learn so much on here and really rely on the content before we venture out to be prepared and have a safe adventure. I hope this can be resolved soon as we look forward to seeing awesome new content.
Another thought that I had as well, the movie industry would love to shut down the competition and small time content creators are far more creative and interesting. I am sure they are pumping money back towards the powers that be to shut down content creators here. It should be a lesson to them about what the public is truly interested in seeing, educational and interesting content. Thank you for sharing this and keeping us informed.
I always rely on UA-cam videos to plan my vacation. Our freedoms are being eroded one by one by one.
You also have photographers charging hundreds of dollars for pictures taken in parks and don’t have permits. This is a bunch of bs and targets the wrong people.
correct, IG is still wide open. In fact, if I wanted to just document my journeys with a phone through still photos and do a voice over in post production & post to UA-cam, I'd be within my legal abilities to do so, given current regulations.
I agree with you sir what the heck happen to our rights ? Why would they attack our rights ? I support you sir
Thank you for sharing this. I’m not a lawyer; however, I know wrong when I see it. This ruling is wrong. Keep your press credentials handy. Keep filming and sharing.
Thanks for the video. I did see Jason's video and now yours. All of us who want to produce content on public land need to stand up to this. UA-cam and Tick Tok need to get involved. Will they be fined, NO, just the little people will be fined. I certainly hope this ruling isn't the last word. Please keep us up to date and making content.
Check the federal register. Rules for photographers and tripods for the national arboretum are on the federal register.
I wish I had watched this last night while drinking beer, instead of this morning drinking coffee. ha! I'm pissed, there goes my Saturday lol
NPS should be glad for all the free advertising. I will continue to create content on our public lands. Having worked for the agency almost 30 seasons I say with confidence they are newbies to social media struggling to catch up in a quickly changing world. The agency also struggles financially, operating on archaic systems. Most parks are short-handed so don't have staff to look for UA-camrs or TikTokers. I believe this will be challenged repeatedly until solved. Keep on educating.
Thanks GeoGypsy. It is true that the NPS seems to be making regulations that would apply to the 1950s.
As a senior citizen with health concerns, its probably doubtful that I will never see any of the western parts of our National parks again. I have tons of film footage when I was at almost all of them from years past. I now depend on You tube channels like yours to see it now. We cannot let our government take this away from you and me. Good show.
Maybe you can get help digitizing the videos and send clips by email or a thumbdrive to a trusted UA-camr to show the history of the parks.
