I've been to every vidcon except the very first and the last three before the pandemic started, when I had just moved from San Diego to Portland and my kids were babies, so I've seen first hand how much it's changed. Of course I'll always miss the intimacy of the early years, before "youtuber" was even considered a viable career (and long before tiktok was even music.ly), but I can accept that it'll never go back to that again, and at least there's still the "creator" pass, which I was very glad to see them roll out some years ago so there was at least ONE level between "fangirl" (community) and "corporate shill" (industry). Last year I was able to hang out with someone who does social media management and who turned out to be a lot of fun to hang out with, and she was kind enough to get me a Hyatt pass, where I got to meet some creators on their off time (just hanging out at the bar, not like, stalking outside their rooms lol). The funny part is, I'm so old and curmudgeonly that I didn't know who anyone there was 😅 But honestly the thing I like most about Vidcon is just having a unified space to talk to others who love creating online content, either themselves or someone they watch. Trying to talk about it with people in my daily life is like trying to teach color to a blind person--they just don't get it, few of them even watch ANYTHING on social media except for whatever political firestorm their aunt posted to facebook, or viral dance video their friend texted to them. And the only other convention I know of that is focused around online content is playlist live, which is on the opposite corner of the country from me in a state that hates women and was terribly organized the one year I did go, so no thanks 😆 this is the first video of yours I've stumbled into, as the kids would say, "I like your vibes!" (maybe that slang is out now...idk I'm old) If you go again in 2024, maybe we'll bump into each other and we can compare notes on how the next con goes compared to 2023 :D
It was my first time at VidCon this year and it was an amazing experience! I got the Industry pass because I was there networking on behalf of a nonprofit. But I also create for them, so it was cool to get to see things from all sides.
VidCon looks really neat! I totally forgot it was even taking place until I started seeing posts about it in the past couple days. I'll have to check it out one of these years!

Ok, I haven’t yet find you anywhere (I do know you had the yellow shirt) inside the convention or outside. You might be there as well on the last day of Vidcon, right?
