How well has your vacuum held up since you made this video over a year ago? Thanks in advance!

@@jennie5663 I've been using one for 11-12 years now, since they first came out as the Kenmore 21814 at Sears. If you are gentle with the equipment as I am it should last decades. What I love about Kenmore is unlike Miele or Aerus they will sell you any part you need and you can make repairs yourself. I have had to fix a couple of minor things like a broken hose latch a few months ago and a cracked hose collar on another machine but Sears Parts Direct sells all the parts and. I have an old Electrolux Silverado vacuum that needs a power nozzle motor and Aerus absolutely will not sell the part. They insist I take it to a dealer (nearest one is a 2 1/2 hour drive) and have them fix it. I can do the job at home in maybe 30 minutes max but Aerus is stubborn. The generic part is not right so I need the genuine Aerus part. Same for Miele. They don't sell individual parts to fix a hose (and their hoses fail, don't let anyone kid you). They say their hoses are not repairable, buy a whole new hose. Well I learned how to fix Miele hoses without new parts but finally just decided to park the darned thing and use the big Kenny for everything. The Kenny just works better, longer hose, motor driven hand brush instead of a cheap turbo tool that Miele sells (for a fortune) and really fewer problems.

Thank you for making this video. I appreciate your no-nonsense walkthrough. It was funny (at my house anyway) how you answered every question I said out loud to my husband right after I asked it.
"But where's the crevice tool?" and then you showed that.
"I really want to see the bottom of the canister." and you said, "That's about it... Unless you want to see the bottom of it." "YES!"
"Sooooo... run it please?" 'I'm not gonna run it." ' Awwww!"
    😂

I'm glad it helped you out and gave you some laughs too! I'm sorry you didn't get to hear it run but it sounds just like every top of the line Kenmore vacuum has sounded for decades. =D

I watch all sorts of do-it-yourself videos, as well as some videos about new products. My mom had Kenmore vacuum cleaners while I was growing up, and I've owned a couple as an adult. I have noticed that the quality has gone down a bit (probably because they're now made in China), but have yet to find a better vacuum, especially having fur kids shedding all over the house. I switched to Dyson-big mistake-it was nowhere near the quality of Kenmore canister vacuums, but twice the price and fell apart a little at a time. Today is Amazon prime day, and I am SO GRATEFUL I FOUND THIS VIDEO! I was trying to decide whether or not to purchase this exact same model. You answered the questions that were not in the Amazon description. Thank you! A small donation is coming your way :)

Obviously I'm not a professional UA-cam reviewer and I have seen the other videos on this item in my search for information and found them lacking. I hope mine help you in your search for information. The crevice tool has 2 openings to draw air in so it gets air draw when you embed the end of the tool into what you're sucking up, I found it draws too much air and resolved that with some blue painters tape reducing the openings by about 70% each. As to the donation, my PayPal account email is KauaiItTime at gmail.com if you are still inclined. And you are right, they are making it cheaper, the lid is thinner then they used to make and instead of dying the plastic to color they are using paint that easily scratches off & gets marred finishes.

Oh my gosh thank you!!! You literally addressed all of my concerns that I couldn't find on the listing or other videos. I was so worried about storage and had no clue that it nested on the canister like that. Also right as I was thinking about the crevice tool you showed where it was. Seriously this was incredibly helpful. I've been in the market for a new vacuum and a my partner insists on getting a Dyson. Which they're nice but their canister model isn't all that great from what reviews have shown and their uprights are just so clunky.

I am about to buy a new Kenmore canister I cannot decide between the Rose Gold or the Purple one Pop-N-Go, You are the only one showing the brushes.
Can you make a video vacuuming the carpet and cleaning floors
The first question is what is your experience with the floor brush attachment.
The second question is what is your experience with the floor brush suction, I have hard floors mostly, I just want to know if the floors get clean.
The other question I have is about the light sensor indicating you when the bag is full
    Thank you

So far I'm trying to fill my first bag so I have no information regarding the light. Next I have no carpets but do have some area low pile carpet mats and it sucks up the edges something furiously. The floor brush attachment works great, I've had zero problems with it. This vacuum sucks things up with no problems but the paint color scratches easily. That does not bother me so long as it does what it is supposed to do and it does. The only reason I bought it was because Panasonic made this originally then moved the plant & tooling equipment to Mexico and then to China. In effect its Japanese made in China. Believe me, I researched this model well into the trade publications most never bother to search for. I go out of my way to not buy Chinese goods but this one was a no brainer as I've been using this type of Kenmore since the early 80s.

how often would a person who works all day with this vaccum need to change the floor piece? Did you manage to move him under the bed with ease? I couldn't see his weight on the internet, can you tell me?

    • @kauaiittime4724
      @kauaiittime4724  2 роки тому +1

Honestly I do not know how many times a day someone would need to change the floor piece. I switch mine off & on around 6-8 times when I vacuum, so far zero troubles after 13+ months. Move him under the bed?? Do you have a timestamp in the video? Example right click the video to select current video time url... ua-cam.com/video/iWkP9hVdcB8/v-deo.html and ua-cam.com/video/iWkP9hVdcB8/v-deo.html. If you're asking about my weight, I weigh too much because I'm fat.

The weight of this specific vacuum cleaner is around 23 pounds, primarily because it sports two motors. I've owned two of these machines--the identical Kenmore Elite Model 21814--for several years, now, with great results, especially if you use the accompanying tools quite a bit, like me. Purchasers have complained about its weight, difficulty pushing the head across carpeting, as well as its canister too-easily tipping, but I would defy any of them to find a machine of this quality anywhere for the same price. Users must experiment between adusting the height of the vacuum's head and the handle suction control, in order to discover a "sweet spot" when vacuuming carpet. When setting out to vacuum a room, place the machine's canister in the middle of it, then fully extend its power cord so that you won't have to pull the canister so far in any one direction, solving much of the "tipping" complaint. This is not a handy "set-it-and-forget-it" vacuum cleaner, by any means, but, if you need a reliable powerful machine for suctioning up loads of dirt and pet hair, this is the one to buy.

Wow, I can hardly believe this is a Kenmore. Kenmore used to be very reliable fine quality products, but this looks very cheaply made. A piece of junk especially for the price point.....

To be fair... Cleva did redesign these to be sealed systems... the exhaust air goes straight through the hepa only... no where else....which is what you actually WANT.... back when Panasonic made Kenmores....they leaked air everywhere... through the hepa... out through the cord and the wheels....so the HEPA filter was pretty pointless... and their bag gaskets weren't great either... the bags don't have a gasket... the actual bag collar does... and they leaked dust out into the bag chamber because of that crappy bag collar... built better? Probably... but that's all.... It's still probably going to die within a couple of years...give or take

@@One-Day-After-Another Excellent points. I ended up spending A LOT more than I ever planned to spend, but I think the one I purchased will now last me for the rest of my life given my age. I bought a fabulous Sebo. I have not looked back. It is the bar none the best vacuum I have ever owned. Wish I had bought one many years ago.
