I agree with him. Everyone has a different style of playing. Meegs isn't technicle, he just feels the music. Even though his riffs aren't complicated they're still badass. He's a good person to look to for inspiration. Coal Chamber for LIFE!!!!!!!!
I myself don't listen to Coal Chamber, or Meegs for that matter, but This Guy Knows Music! He knows Gear, he talks about low frequencies, and air movement with the Rivera Cabs, He has been on the road for a looong Time. He's recorded for Hours, and hours. He has been on every stage in the World, probably hung out with Many, many Heavy Guitarists. You have to give it to Meegs. He knows what he needs to get his Music expressed, and thats all theat Matters. Cool Bro.
@thisisausernameyesir Indeed my friend Meegs is and will always be one of the best modern day guitarists. If for nothing more than his attitude towards the craft. I miss Coal Chamber so damn much. :(
the heavy strings give him the monster fat tone he has,i use 60's and 70 on my axes and they will rattle the windows, tune down to F on occasion too, always loved these guys more than Korn
You can easily set the guitar up for that, the only issue on most guitars would be the nut on top may need modified a little bit to fit correctly. meegs used to use SIT strings, not sure about now but the 70's work well for low tunings, keeps things nice and tight.
@cartliflex if anything it helps to teach urself cause it lets u come up with ur own style of playing. look at Steph Carpenter(Deftones) and Munky(Korn)
I may look back now and marvel at how simple this dude's parts are, but learning his songs in the early days helped me get into guitar when I wasn't as good of a player. What I wonder is, if he had such trouble playing on the giant strings, why not just get lighter strings?
has to do with tuning stability, tone and feel. heavier gauges help provide that kinda drony sound quality to the guitars that low tunings and nu metal are known for. i had my 6 string setto drop b.first with a 56 on the low e and then i changed to a 60 .the tone ,sound quality and feel just fits the lower tuning.and maybe cus im an oddball guitarist but to me lower tunings are easier to play on chonky strings. if you want to play drop tunings on a 6string make sure your guitar is around 25" scale length to begin. one get around is a 7string. the incteased scale length(26.5) keeps lighter gauged string at proper tension so you can.tune down, but heavier strings still sound and feel better on them to me too
hes of chinese and mexican descent. look it up on wikipedia :O meegs is a beast. and i luv coal chamber, i just think its sad he never did any solos in coal chamber D:
Man i love meegs approach to music and guitar so much. Also how tf can you even sound so good and heavy out of that tiny toy amp😂😂 Just casually ripping it on a drop B tuned guitar out of a 10 watt amp
im self taught.no formal lessons.lessons are great for somethings but your passion and connection to the instrument and to playing music will always trump them. learn the technical skills but then make them your own.use formal practice sets but also just think less ,let your fingers explore the fretboard and play. playing will always be the best teacher. learn covers to practice, learn skills and techiques too. playing the music will be the best teacher. if reading music is a hang up,learn some song covers via guitar tablature n listening to the songs on headphones. i feel one of the biggest hurdles for people learning anything in life is to build the confidence that you can do so. add to having to endure the pain of build callouses from the strings is also a hurdle for many.
it comes down to scale length of the guitar. nut height and slot width , string gauge, and tuning peg hole diameter. most 25.5 scale length guitars can handle 60s with little modification besides the nut.
yes im in a band no im not famous but coal chamber might be good all together but this guy isnt good. and if u want to hear sum1 that isnt in a band thats is fuckin amazing look up gustavo guerra. u dont have to be famous and in a band to be good

I want that guitar!!!
Great advice for guitar players. Play what sounds good to you, and don't worry so much about the technical part of it so much.
B.C. Rich Custo Conti. rare guitar! I want that guitar!

I love meegs
Their sound was amazing, great band, and lots of underrated tunes 🤙

yeah meegs! cocaine is a hell of a drug!

He is so talented but humble

@Fake4x4 He might be more comfortable with a 6 string then with a 7 strong. The neck is a bit weird when you aren't used to it.
@daldalwooten Which is why his band has gone down in Metal history as one of the best. Good game.
hes of chinese and mexican descent. look it up on wikipedia :O meegs is a beast. and i luv coal chamber, i just think its sad he never did any solos in coal chamber D:
I thought he played powerchords during the verses in Loco; guess I was wrong.
+Jordan Dansereau technically playing In detuned IS power chords, just not the regular two/three finger shape.
MrParkerman6 Well he's going BE C#F#, not BF# C#G#.
Jordan Dansereau they are still power chords though, just played like drop d, (drop a)
no u weren't wrong just Loco......ha ha ...learn it both ways just in case...
Man i love meegs approach to music and guitar so much. Also how tf can you even sound so good and heavy out of that tiny toy amp😂😂

lol at 7:13 I thought that signal sounded small and weak, sorta like a practise amp, but thats not even that! :D
@Fake4x4 Cost he never really uses more than the bottom 3 strings lol.
dude... its the quality of the video.. cant you see its bad... and the voice is all modulated and stuff...
how old would he be here?
Seeing as he says Chamber Music has been out for about 7 months, it should be around April 2000, so hes 29 here (born Aug 20, 1970).
Guitar is hard for me tried to learn on my own cause parents didn’t wanna pay for lessons

what bc rich guitar is that
but...how can you put a 70 string there O.o that`s like...huge O.o
elsantoshadow probably a hard tail would be the best.

the D-tuna was garbage..... but Meegs guitar was a mixing engineers nightmare!
