We drastically reduced our fully grown Apple trees last year I'm glad to see they are still showing signs of life this spring. They weren't grown on root stocks just pips that 2 of our children grew 30 years ago. They were reduced in height because any falling apples kept hitting the green house.
Thank you Will.......I'm doing some talks in Austalia around February and I shall miss the dogs terribly.......and my wife of course, she thankfully doesn't stink, fart on the sofa, or roll about in rotting animals. Putrified moles being a particular delicacy.....Putrified anything actually! Thanks again for taking the time to comment. Best wishes......Malcolm
Well, if you ever come to the Southern US, I'd be glad to hear you speak. I'm rather well house trained my self, although not to be trusted with ladies "delicates" should the hamper be left unguarded. Off to tend the Brugmansia!
Do you have apples or pears espaliered around the veggie beds? That is a really nice look. I have a small nursery that I started selling from this year; I have been propagating and growing for the last 2 years to increase my stock. It definitely is a ton of work keeping track of everything when you are a 1 woman show. I really enjoy listening to you and learning from you. Thanks for doing these videos. Hope you continue showing us the inside of what you do. Come visit us in the USA!
Thank you Regina.......apples and Pears lend themselves well to what we call 'stopovers'.....in reality its a simple single tier espalier but works well....you can take leaders up and over paths to form arches......or a hut as we are doing at Eggleston. Given my time again I would choose the same path. might change one or two personal things like less shagging when younger, and i'd like brown skin and dark hair....as opposed to fair skin and blonde/ginger hair. But that's all froth....the business is wonderful and i would love to visit America one day....New England seems like my sort of place....its just all that churchy stuff that puts me off. Thank you very much for your comment and I wish you well in your garden and nursery. Best wishes....Malcolm
