@xXxKnaeckebrotxXx We'd rather upload our music to youtube in full HD quality as opposed to all the users who upload album covers at a lossy quality. Bands like The Ocean deserve high quality!
This has almost no palm muted "djenty" notes. This is as Djenty as mastodon and baroness, just because there is some palm muted involved it doesn't mean this is Djent! You may not like it, that's all on you, but don't mix up things. :)
This definitely sounds like textures, textures are my favourite band and after heliocentric and anthropocentric the ocean are too. They are a mix of all my favourite bands! But seriously if you like this and haven't heard textures check um out! Plus can't wait for the new DVD just recorded unfortunately anthropocentric won't be on it.
How would you rate Anthro? how does the rest of the stuff compare to this song? I love the melody of this chorus(singer reminds me of three days grace a little), anything similar?
@ImSnugalicious to be honest....i use to think the same thing....but his style kinda grew on me....ive been jamming this album alot in my car....and the album as a whole is great and ive come to like his vocals
I love this song but it bothers the fuck out of me that people don't realize that they didn't write most of the lyrics in the song, 90% of them are from a poem call darkness by lord Byron.
AHAHAHA, have you even listened to anything off this album? Try the title track, then come back to me and say it's "core garbage". Also, what do you define as Texas rap? Beatking? I'm from Dallas and I know that you can't possibly like good music if you like "Texas rap".
When I hear this song in particular, I hear a djenty Mastodon with a Deftones chorus. I like that combo of influence and wonder if any of their other material is like this?
+Ian Alderman That's exactly what I thought (minus the Deftones part) when I first heard the first track on Precambrian in 2008, which was my introduction to them.
@hedlund Not that I know of. And of course Nico left to sing full time for War From A Harlot's Mouth. The new guy is unbelievable, though. When this band comes on your ipod's mix, you KNOW it's The Ocean. They don't get lost in the proverbial shuffle, and that's worth something these days.
I love this song. I've loved every album this band has released from Islands/Tides on to Heliocentric, and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna love this one too. Can't wait to see them again on tour when they come around. This song is friggin awesome.
I’d was introduced to this band just as I could say - suddenly In 2009, nearly this year, my friend was remarking of metalcore band that sounded different as others, but fortunately I found this brilliant band tagging words he adviced (water, ocean, sea) Now I’m a huge Metal fan and and a huge fan of this German band. Every album is just kicking my ass off
I'm not disagreeing with this comment 100%, the hard parts are too metalcorish for me, but I like it when this band makes long songs, they always find the way to express themselves with them.
Bah voilà, je m'y habituerais jamais... Je viens de prendre encore une grosse baffe ^^ (Well that's it! I won't get use to it... I 've just been slapped once again)
@Joshcillation Don't let the terrible hardcore bands ruin it for the rest of metal. There are TONS of great bands including The Ocean that are all unique from each other.
@ScreamZack There is nothing 'core' about this, it's progressive metal, which according to my calculations, is still 'real metal.' I used to be closed minded to bands like this too, but I grew the fuck up and realized that this music is good and takes insane talent to even comprehend riffs like these guys do. I've seen them live, they were amazing.
To everyone who is new to this band: really check out the older albums especially precambrian. those albums were great. I prefer the former vocalists. I've seen the ocean 5 times now, one with Loic Rossetti and I was positively surprised but really.. it's not the same and they will never reach the same level of the albums they made in the past with this one.
you know, personally, i dont really hear any of those bands in this. i mean, i havent really listened to much mastodon so i can really speculate there. but as far as the rest of the bands people are saying, (especially meshuggah) i dont hear it. but this song is fuckin bad ass
My first time listening to them. Theyre great! im always looking for new creative metal to listen too. so sick of the generic riffs, breakdowns, squeals, and that whiny ass singing most bands are pulling out of their asses. I really hope all these guys other material is like this because im loving this shit.
I love this song, one more teaser and i can commit to buying this album. This song is the way i found out about this band and they're awesome. Just afraid that this is the single of an album of filler, but i HIGHLY doubt that. Metal Blade one more single please!!
wow! I just ordered it after hearing this. But after Heliocentric one has no option but to buy anthropocentric too. It's that good. These guys have developed into a positive direction in my opinion. I really like the new singer too. And the sound... maaaan ^^
i still miss their old singer. The new guy is good, but Mike was one of the best vocalists in metal in my opinion. Metal blade guys, do you know if he's still doing vocals for another band or anything?
i think this new thing where the record company uploads the songs with good quality is the shit waaaay better than when wed wait for someone to upload it and not even be that great of quality
how good is this? :o there are no words for it I guess =o I'm listening the whole album now can't wait till I reach the end this is absolutely amazing! :D I have to buy this!!!!!!!!!!!! :o
This is some pretty great stuff. I've heard this bands name thrown around every once in a while, and now here I am on youtube finally checking them out. Whats a good album to start with from these guys?
ok on comcast (tv cable) i was flipping thru the music channel and there was metal i stopped then this song was on thats how i found out about this song
0:55 - Tonic
2:09 - Sub dominant
4:14 - Sub dominant
4:59 - Tonic
Can't believe I never noticed that, The ocean never cease to blow me away.
Pro tip: you can watch movies on Flixzone. Been using them for watching lots of of movies recently.
@Brantley Bode Yup, been watching on Flixzone for since december myself :D
@xXxKnaeckebrotxXx We'd rather upload our music to youtube in full HD quality as opposed to all the users who upload album covers at a lossy quality. Bands like The Ocean deserve high quality!
Wow! That's really cool.
So much gratitude to my all-time favorite band and record label
Fuckin love you guys!!!❤
Almost going to be 5 years old…… Time flies..
7 years now
Lunextron
Already 8 years going to 9
Almost 10.

i love this band

Just received my limited edition coloured vinyl. Easily the most gorgeous package in my collection.
I've said it before and I say it again: Loic is a fucking animal.
@D00drebeau I'm glad I'm not the only who gets reminded of Mastodon by this. I just found these guys, spectacular.
I have this album in my cd collection, is GREAT! Thanx for vid, add to my playlist :)
holy shit i forgot these guys were releasing a second album this year. Heliocentric was amazing.
Holy shit my band Replacire is playing with these guys Nov. 12th in Worcester, MA at Club Oasis. So fucking stoked
@MetalBladeRecords I doubt they'll ever top Precambrian but this is a solid release. I hope to see them live some day...
thats an epic mix if you ask me.
How would you rate Anthro? how does the rest of the stuff compare to this song? I love the melody of this chorus(singer reminds me of three days grace a little), anything similar?
@MetalBladeRecords oh sick thanks
dang i remember when this only had bout 11000 views
@ImSnugalicious to be honest....i use to think the same thing....but his style kinda grew on me....ive been jamming this album alot in my car....and the album as a whole is great and ive come to like his vocals
Get the new one. It's mind-numbing good
This song reminds me when I was in love :/
@R3v01u710n I don't think I had ever been let down by an album more
@rambadibow i agree
2:51 - 3:25 is just epic
@AlcoholicSemenStain With Meshuggah-like verses haha.. Diggin' this song and its obvious influences for sure.
I've always wondered what the Ocean sounds like. Now, I know...
@MetalBladeRecords i like there new vocalist better he adds more of a unique feel than the old singer and has more of a soreing effect with his voice
@xXxKnaeckebrotxXx nah this is just a song promo by Metal Blade.
@tishaemberton9 Haha, you are so right...you are probably one of the few people to notice this!
This shit is AWESOME!
@4whitesharpEz totally man alot of their imagry reminds me of mastodon
Screams.
They also sound like cult of Luna
Reminds me of Textures.
Probably because of their name. It's so hard to find them through 5003245 other references to the sea lol.
Screams or cleans?
Only occasionally.
@rambadibow
Sounds like Deftones meets Mastodon
@Joshcillation hahahaha yes, sure
I had a dreaaam
Which was so not a dreaaam
under moonlight sadness xD
Sounds like Deftones!!
Who are you talking to?
if you like prog. check out protest the hero (: they are awesomeeee!!!!!
I love this song but it bothers the fuck out of me that people don't realize that they didn't write most of the lyrics in the song, 90% of them are from a poem call darkness by lord Byron.
The chorus is early Deftones like.
They aren't djent, there is no djent in their sound and t
@VincentFinn well it sure isnt rap brotha.
This is not a garlic
wish the clean vocalist would put some power and emotion behind his voice but besides that I'm really liking this, very raw sounding.
I just wish the vocals were better.
I'm glad for the genre classification... "Post-metal" prevents them from being confused with "actual metal", thankfully.
AHAHAHA, have you even listened to anything off this album? Try the title track, then come back to me and say it's "core garbage". Also, what do you define as Texas rap? Beatking? I'm from Dallas and I know that you can't possibly like good music if you like "Texas rap".
Check out Periphery if you like this band...way better
Same goes for Protest the Hero
reader88888888 yeah, Na.. This band destroys periphery.
LOL
Fuck no. They're aren't even comparable. Use your ears more often, I mean, what the fuck?
They're all great in their own ways. Sure PTH and Periphery are technical, but The Ocean is also amazing
When I hear this song in particular, I hear a djenty Mastodon with a Deftones chorus. I like that combo of influence and wonder if any of their other material is like this?
+Ian Alderman You should check Precambrian if you like this one
+Ian Alderman That's exactly what I thought (minus the Deftones part) when I first heard the first track on Precambrian in 2008, which was my introduction to them.

this band will forever stay on my iPods mix
Deftones, Meshuggah, Mastodon, Gojira...that's what I spot mostly...
This band is amazing, I bought the album Aeolian. I can't stop listening, The whole album is just fan-fuckin-tasic. Talent is what this is
Wow. The Ocean just gets better and better! One of the best bands out right now, hands down!
Can't wait to go to their MySpace page!
you should check out their bebo profile 😋🤘🏻
This comment is absolutely hilarious in 2020
@hatespreader666 Another song from "Anthropocentric", "The Grand Inquisitor II: Roots & Locusts", is streaming on stereogum(dot)com
George Gordon Byron - Darkness... amazing how they managed to get it into such an outstanding piece of music!
Damn, sounds good! Kudos to Metal Blade for granting these sneak peaks of upcoming albums. Made me decide right now to order the album.
I love this song. I've loved every album this band has released from Islands/Tides on to Heliocentric, and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna love this one too. Can't wait to see them again on tour when they come around. This song is friggin awesome.
this is "I will delete my comment because nowadays I don't mind with this 'metal/not metal stuff'" :D
Their band logo looks like Mastodon's old logo
I’d was introduced to this band just as I could say - suddenly
In 2009, nearly this year, my friend was remarking of metalcore band that sounded different as others, but fortunately I found this brilliant band tagging words he adviced (water, ocean, sea)
Now I’m a huge Metal fan and and a huge fan of this German band. Every album is just kicking my ass off
I love that you sing Lord Byron's poem, Darkness. :) That's so neat!
I'm not disagreeing with this comment 100%, the hard parts are too metalcorish for me, but I like it when this band makes long songs, they always find the way to express themselves with them.
MetalBladeRecords you rock! BIG PROPS for supporting these guys, I had the chance to know them and they are amazing!
Bah voilà, je m'y habituerais jamais... Je viens de prendre encore une grosse baffe ^^
(Well that's it! I won't get use to it... I 've just been slapped once again)
I study the occult, I have no real interest in metal anymore. I just wanted to say, I was brought here through studying mythos.
Gnosis is everywhere.
Hopefully Anthropocentric will be better than Heliocentric. Man, Helio was such a disappointing album.
This is the reason I started listening to this band. love this song to death
seriously that chorus is so epic. eargasm all the way.
It's, unsurprisingly, called post-metal. Lol
The scream vocals reminds me of some Norma Jean
their logo reminds me of mastodon
happy were those who dwelt within the eye of the volcanoes
this band is something else love em
@Joshcillation Don't let the terrible hardcore bands ruin it for the rest of metal. There are TONS of great bands including The Ocean that are all unique from each other.
Is Sheamus in this band?
I think this song is better than everything on Precambrian.
And for some reason the chorus reminds me of some of Deftones' older stuff.
The first 10 seconds hit so damn hard!
looks like they use the same artist as mastodon.
@ScreamZack There is nothing 'core' about this, it's progressive metal, which according to my calculations, is still 'real metal.' I'm pretty sure Metalblade Records is the shit. Absolutely my favorite label now! Maybe someday they'll sign my band.
I love this song, one more teaser and i can commit to buying this album. This song is the way i found out about this band and they're awesome. Just afraid that this is the single of an album of filler, but i HIGHLY doubt that. Metal Blade one more single please!!

I love the title to this song. She Was The Universe. That's such a nice and deep song title. :)
This isn't Core metal at ALL. You obviously know nothing about metal at all if you think this is core. Probably too busy listening to other garbage.
ok on comcast (tv cable) i was flipping thru the music channel and there was metal i stopped then this song was on thats how i found out about this song
@anotherdumbaccount I lack strength (I lack strength) to turn and leave you. There's no confidence (I lack strength) in my hesitation.
@horizoneatsun14
nico is in war from a harlots mouth, but i mean Mike, the main vocalist from precambrian/aeolian and all those
