Thanks for this video this is exactly what I want to setup. If I use a tiny like hp 800 elitedesk. And have an external hard drive case that holds 4 drives could I set this up? I look forward to your more in depth video..

@@techmadeez9037 I don't think I would recommend such a external HDD enclosure, you usually don't get the control over the HDDs that you have with a direct connection. Not sure about the one you showed, but most cheap exclosures don't hand over smart data, don't let you handle sleep behavior of the hdds (which requires the a firmware connection tool), bad c-states and thus bad idle power consumption...
Instead, getting a M.2 to SATA HBA (best ones with the ASM1166 chipset) will allow you to connect 6 HDDs from a single M.2 pcie slot. And then put the hdds into a plain jbod (i use acryllic plate one). In the end you get a small little tower of HDDs, put the thinclient on the bottom or top and it's really compact

I would't use it either but I test products Just to give Viewers options. I have another video testing higher quality enclosures as well. I just try to give viewers options that make sense to them.

Maybe look at something from Terramaster? When you factor in cost of PC + Enclosure + Time spent troubleshooting, you might find that an off the shelf NAS might be the easier route. RaidOwl and Hardware Haven have great videos on turning off the shelf NAS's into media servers by installing whatever OS you want on them.
