For size 1 - 2 years use a 4.5mm crochet hook
For size 2 - 3 years use a 5mm crochet hook
For size 3 - 4 years use a 5.5mm crochet hook
For my cardigan I used a 4mm crochet hook and Drops Lima yarn (DK weight).

charlotte thank you so much this helps!
I never dared to crochet such items but with your tutelage I have succeeded in all the items I’ve tried. Thank you.
Love this relatively simple and beautiful design! Thank you! For anyone struggling with the size being too big, I used a medium weight yarn and a 4.5mm crochet hook. My daughter wears a size 7 top and it fit her perfectly.
Thank you so much for teaching this tutorial. I really appreciate the way you teach the pattern step by step. It came out beautiful. I look forward to your next tutorial.
Followed the design exactly and it's huge on my daughter. Absolutely gutted because the pattern is lovely.
Hi Rhian, are you using DK weight yarn? x
@@woolywonderscrochet7586 it also turned out huge for me too, using dk and 3.5 hook. Not baby sized, had to undo it all
I loveeee love love your tutorials but I started this as a gift for a newborn and it was looking a little large so I measured it against my 8 month old and it was perfect for her 😭 I used a 3.5mm hook and paintbox simply DK. I think scaling down the pattern may be better than just using a smaller hook. If anyone has any tips, please let me know!
Your channel has a lot of nice products. You teach very easy to understand. Thank you very much. Hope you will make even more videos. I love your channel 😘
I have to tell you how much I enjoy your tutorials. Honestly, yours is my favorite channel. You have such a wonderful voice, which makes your instructions so easy to follow. Please continue making lovely garments for little girls. My granddaughters and I really appreciate them. 🤗
Thank you for your lovely comment! I have lots more tutorials planned! x
Your tutorials are great, this is already second model I am working on and it is super easy. The main problem is that in both models size wasn't correct at all. For this in particular i was using 3.5mm crochet hook and instead getting 0-6 months size the dress fits my toddler 🤔 what is the catch?
Very easy method I made for my grand daughter. 🙏 🙏 🙏
Thank you. I am making one in gray using an American hook size 4.5 I think mine will fit around age 4.
Thank you, lovely pattern and easy to follow along with you.
Made this for my granddaughter and it turned out beautiful. Thank you!
For the different sizes is it just a matter of using a larger hook is the pattern actually different
Thank you so much for your channel and sharing your lovely crochet patterns 😘
Thank you so much for your tutorials! It is possible that you make a video teaching how to make the finish border ?
OMG this is adorable I love your tutorials!!
Love your tutorials. Love this sweater.
I made it for my granddaughter. I think it came out really cute. I love your tutorials. Wish I could share a photo with you. Thank you very much.
That is great! I would love to see a photo! You can send me one via instagram or twitter x

Yesss... I'm about to write the same

Thank you, Deborah x
Cute baby clothes..keep it up♻
Would you be able to make this larger? I really love it but need to make matching cardigans for sisters aged 4 and 7
I’m making this right now and halfway through xx
In love with this sweater ❤️
I would like to see the finished product on a child that would be nice
Hi, ur videos r lovely very helpful for a beginner ive made 2 of the tops already. For this cardigan wanted to chk if i use red heart super saver wz the same hook size as mentioned for the ages wud it turn out rite or wud i have to chnge it
I made my daughter’s dress with this pattern, but the neck is too wide, I tried one more line of double crochet at the beginning but don’t understand how to do reverse corner stitch, can u help?
I love all of your patterns and videos! Is there anyway I scale it all the way up for an 11 year old? Can you help with larger yarn and larger needle combo suggestions that might work? Thanks so much!
This fit well around my daughter’s chest and back but the neck is wider than I’d like, near the edge of her shoulders. Is there a collar or border you suggest to bring it in a little up top?
Thank you, I love your tutorials and have enjoyed making many of your baby items.
hi i saw you in slic twins. nice work i try to make this
For a 1 to 2 years size, how much yarn would I need approximately? Thank you 😊
so cute
Its a beautiful cardigan. How can i adjust the pattern to make age 7-8? Many thanks x
Hi, I love this pattern but I would like to do it for a 7 year-old and a 5 year-old. Do I start with more chain stitches altogether? I like to use crochet hook No. 5 or 5.5mm. Thanks in advance, love your tutorials!
Do you use DK yarn for all sizes or worsted for 2-3 years
very lovely ... may i ask how many skeins of yarn is needed for the largest size? it is yarn that is 2.1 oz 105 yard skeins of 85% cotton 15% polyester... i need to know how much to buy . thank you
I used a size 5mm hook for my 2 year old witch in months she is 28 months old and the cardigan was huge on her what should I do I think you should change the stich pattern for sizing and and not the crocket hook please message me back.
I used the size 4.5 for 1-2yr and its turned out much bigger, would probably fit a 5year old maybe older, shame because its a lovely cardigan and the video is very clear and easy to follow 😥
Adorable! I tried one.. love it!
Bonjour merci pour ce joli tuto si l ai bien compris pour un 6 mois je suis exactement votre tuto et je prends un crochet 3´5 ?et encore milles merci 🙏
Would it be hard to add sleeves to this?
Hi, can you add sleeves to this card?
I have done so. I just attached my yarn under the arm and then did double crochets in rounds until I got the length I wanted. Then I just did two rows of HDC in front post/back post to make a little ribbing. Looks quite nice
@@bevdavis438 I was thinking about doing just this. Glad someone else has the same idea.
Thank you for your kind reply but l meant the sizes of the , garment , trying to explain l need to know how many stitches or instructions on different sizes of the cardigan , like small, medium ,large and xtra large , hope l am clearer now , thank you for your patience ,and for your fine videos
I made and love it. I would like to add sleeves can you help please 😘😘😘❤️❤️❤️
Are you meant to have the same number of stitches while doing the next 8 rows of the first 10 rows? Im getting more stitches every row?
That's correct. You' re increasing every row at least 4 stitches
Can this be made with DK yarn
So love your channel and work how would we make the sleeves longer thank you
Heyy, could you please tell me the total inches of the foundation round of 85 stitches, im making this for the first time and im a bit lost i want to knw the total inches when u start the round
Has anyone made this in size 3-4 years? If so, how much yarn did you use? I don't want to start it if I don't have enough yarn.
Lilac Mess I used approximately 250m if dk weight yarn
Very nice. I love your channel! Thank you!
Thank you! x
Hey, of I want to make a newborn size would you suggest a 3mm hook? Thank you xxx
Is it possible to make this for a 8yr old
I crocheted 6 rows but the neck was so wide which is a shame cos lovely pattern
Me encanta todo lo que realiza.miy bonito .la felicito .un saludo.gracias
Can you tell how to make this cardigan for 13 year old ?
I need to make this for a 6 year old girl. Can you suggest me ?
So lovely!!!!! I will knit it for my niece! What size did you do in the video?
what would we do if we wanted to had sleeves and make it a sweater?
For two year old how much we have to chain and the corners how much we have to live
Hi can I do the same in silk thread n how many should I chain for it for a 5 year
Can you please tell how much gram of yarn us needed for 2 to 3 year old for this design
Would like to make this. Thought pattern was free though.
I wanted to do a cardigan of size s, could you please help me with the pattern
Can you put sleaves on this one?
I love your channel nice top
I’d love to make this for my older daughter do you think it would work moving up the hook sizes? Or is there a maximum size do you think? Thank you for your videos x
Hi Carolyn, I haven’t done it but like you I’m going to make it for an 8 year old and based on my calculation of her size, I’m going to make 101 stitches to start then the pattern on the second row will be 14 double crochet (dc), 1 corner, 20 dc, 1 corner, 28 dc, 1 corner, 20 dc, 1 corner and again 14 dc; that adds up to 101 . And continue with what she says. You can size this first two rounds around one your daughter’s sweater and see if it is the right size; if not you can add or subtract with the same pattern. I haven’t tried it but I think that is how it should be done!
Hello very nice
hello how many chains do we start???
How many chains should I start for 6-7 years😊
What changes would you recommend for an 8 yr old.
what could you change for a larger size please? Thanks
I would just recommend increasing the hook size. You could change the foundation chain length but the pattern would have to be altered x
What size is the tutorial? Thank you for your tutorials, yours are my favorite!
Please see the description box below the video for size information x
@@woolywonderscrochet7586 can this be adaptable and have sleeps added to it? Thanks x
hi i want to use a very fine yarn to make this cardigan for my 2 year old daughter.so what size hook do i need and how many chains should i do. i am beginner so i am still confused with the crochet rules.
Simply follow the tutorial using the crochet hook size stated in the description box below the video x
Do you have written instructions please for this absolutely gorgeous cardigan? I am so slow that it takes me too long to do this on-line and I have a 10 week old granddaughter arriving from Australia shortly for whom I would like to crochet this for. I have been trying to write this pattern down on paper but am having a few problems.
Yes I do have a written pattern available! If you look in the description box below the video there is a link to where you can find it. Thank you x
I really love this pattern but the sizes run very big. At first I tried the 2-3 year size and it was way too big even for my 5 year old niece. I then crocheted the 1-2 year old and that ran big on my 4 year old niece. I want to attempt this again but now i don't know what size to do for my 15 month old daughter. 😔😣
Hi Rosario, can I ask what size yarn you are using? You need to make sure you are using DK weight yarn x
I did with muscat for 2 years and it was to big and I did it with 3.5hook
maria drakopoulou I redid this cardigan with a smaller hook and the correct yarn but I found the neck area was too wide.. I am thinking of adding extra rows to close it in more.
I did the same inside the neckline. I started and I did it from the beginning 3 times I couldn't do it again. Although is the first time that happens with wooly wonders patterns I am working them 2 years
maria drakopoulou I think this pattern works great for older children not babies/toddlers. I am currently working on her dress she just posted. I am hoping I don't have the same issue.
I love all your work and have made a number of your items, I will be making this shortly but would like to know if you have a leggings pattern to match this please. Thank you
how much yarn did you use for the 6-12 months size?
Can this be adapted for an adult cardigan, I would love a matching set 🥰
For the wife not me 😀
@@vincelee256 I don't see why not but I don't know exactly how to do it either. I would have to sit at my desk and actually do the math to get the right stitch count since it would have to have stitches added in order to get the right fit. I just don't have the patience right now to sit and do it. I'm sure you too could do it same as I do if you give it a go. I taught myself how to do it. Heck I couldn't even read a written pattern or graft a year ago, still not very good at it at all but learning more all the time by watching tutorials on UA-cam. I've been crocheting for over 40 years having been taught by my grandmother but honestly I don't remember her ever using a pattern so that must be why she didn't teach me that part of crocheting. She could make some really beautiful things too. Well, I sure hope you can get the answer to your question and if you do could you plz reply back here and tag me so I can hear what you did and how it turned out. God bless and HAPPY EASTER 🕊️🕯️💛🙏
How much wool does this use in 100g ball amounts. I want to have a go at this for my 4 year old but don’t want to get wool and run out.
Sam Small I was unsure but having read through the comments somebody said she used about 250m of DK yarn for 3-4 year old size. I’ve just checked my DK yarn by Paintbox and the 100g ball is 276m of yarn so I’m hoping that a single 100g ball of U.K. DK yarn will be enough with about 10% left over. I hope so anyway because I’ve only got the one ball! Good luck with the project. I only taught myself to crochet a couple of weeks ago and this is my first big item of clothing. I have made a blanket, three toy octopuses and a child’s hat/bonnet so far. I wish I’d learnt years ago!
Can someone help me with a link to learn how to add the single chain border to each side? Thank you!
Can not see your description box for sizes , cant find it ,can you please put the as an answer to my comment. Thank you so much, very pretty cardigan l, would like to one for my great grand baby ,she is 3
If you look under the video you should see "show more" - click this and it will open the description box x
For size 0 - 6 months use a 3.5mm crochet hook
For size 6 - 12 months use a 4mm crochet hook
For size 1 - 2 years use a 4.5mm crochet hook
For size 2 - 3 years use a 5mm crochet hook
For size 3 - 4 years use a 5.5mm crochet hook
Im on 22:55 i counted and I have 132 dc I've redone it multiple times and keep ending in 132 and not 136 can anyone tell me what im doing wrong everything is right except that
I know it's been awhile since you posted but same thing here... Just add a couple increases if you have to.It's really not a big deal as long as you get 136. I would do it along the back .
Which size did you make in this video?
😩 it’s waaaaaaay to big for the 3-4year old that I’m making it for and I was using a 5mm hook. And I have gotten to the point just before you start the shells and I only have 129 stitches!! How??? I wanted to give it to my godchild as a Christmas gift. Do I start again??
Un do nd start again adding carefully on the corners
how many yarns did you need for this ?
31:34 round 13 repeat x
charlibabe Thank you! I couldn’t find that point again.
It's a beauty!! 💖
Thank you! It is definitely one of my favourites! x
Hi can I add sleeves
The neck line is far to big, tried this for a 3 year old with a 4.5 still to big, will do again with a smaller hook for neck and top part and will change to a bigger one for the pattaned part.Wish me luck.
how did that work out, please? i am very curious
I followed this precisely and I ended up with 133 stitches at the end of row 11, instead of 136. I even started from scratch, twice, and go the same. :-(
i got 134... does it work if you figure out how to make your sleeves the same number of stitches? for example, if it is supposed to have 36 stitches per arm... make an extra 2 dc in however many stitches you need to in order to get 36 stitches on each arm?
Yes I got 133 aswell which means you have a half shell on the edge of one front and a full shell on the other so it doesn't look right
Yes I also got 133 and after redoing twice I added extra 3 along the back.
please can someone tell me the length of the cardigan?
I have a little friend age 7 who loves this pattern can you tell me how to increase to a size 6-7?
Thank you for your help.
Arlene Van Dyke I can’t see a suggestion I’m hoping to make it in 7-8 x
has anyone added /extended the sleeves on this pattern?
Nice
This can be a dress if I close it?
I use muscat
How do I make this for a 18-24 month old and a 6 year old please I am a beginner x
For size 0 - 6 months use a 3.5mm crochet hook
For size 6 - 12 months use a 4mm crochet hook
For size 1 - 2 years use a 4.5mm crochet hook
For size 2 - 3 years use a 5mm crochet hook
For size 3 - 4 years use a 5.5mm crochet hook
looks like you just go up hook sizes to make bigger sizes, :)
