Totally dig how hyped you are about 1.0. I think it speaks volumes about not just the quality of the game, but also of the team at Coffee Stain that you are still a big cheerleader for them.
I know you aren't part of this dev team anymore, but one thing I love to see is how developers are playing their game. I learn stuff I didn't realize, and I realize how horrible I am at using these shortcuts that the devs may not even realize are there, lol. But seriously, seeing a game how the dev wants it to be played is great, and as you continue working on your own project, I hope you continue to do that!
Hello Jace! Me and my dad are going to work on a 3d Factory game (i think you know where it came from) and I just wanted to tell you that, so no reason i just would love to tell a indie dev that i'll be becoming a indie dev with my dad. :)
If you're having throughput issues with the train stations stopping to unload before the station is empty then maybe consider doubling up on the stations so the trains will only be half filled. This way you can have the same amount of resources going both in and out of more input/output slots so your stations should fully empty before the next train comes in.

If you want some achieves, you may need a new save. Node locations and/or types and/or ground levels may have changed. Probably best to start fresh, finish, then replay old save, using SCIM to remove buildings as needed.
Are you going to attend the 1.0 release stream? They should invite you, you are a huge part of the early access man. I hope for Jace + Snutt one last ride...

Always add buffers on either input or output side of train so mats don't get locked by loading or unloading, or blocked by non-empty freight platform.

I'd love to be able to continue using the same factory since I've made such good progress! But will need to assess the damage when 1.0 drops!

Probably not much. He left around 0.8, and a bunch of things changed in the past 2-ish years.
