One of the great things about the way Chris runs his channel is that he doesn't have some intro crap that he has to play and then talk for 2 minutes about "getting right into it". This is a No Bull channel. Excellent! His "Brand" is solid and recognizable without the lipstick.
The difference between Chris and loggers is that Chris has to clean up the mess he makes😊😊. First class operator! My dad was in excavating his whole life, he is currently 85, and watches LD18 and admires the job Chris does.
Chris keeps his viewers in mind when he attaches the camera to different parts of the machine. I'll never forget when he set up the camera inside an old house he was demolishing and a board came down and knocked the camera over. It's like we died right then.
Amidst this long-term clearing & clean-up project, it must be nice to have some shorter jobs to do and see them finished. You do such good work, the results are so fine, you could work 24/7 and still have people lined up. Everyone wants a 'Property sculpted to perfection by Letsdig18'. And even though you've expanded, you haven't compromised your quality of work. I really admire that, Chris. Thanks for sharing your journey with us all.
Aw, what a shame. I was kind of hoping there would be some good board feet off those trees. I didn't take into account that people who just grow trees for shade screw all that up by letting every branch in the world poke out of it. What a waste. Well, we DO need toilet paper after all...
Actually, knotty pine is valuable. It's used in furniture, interior flooring, walls and ceilings. My step-father was a retired master carpenter and his living room roof, floor and walls were done with knotty pine. He made all his dinning room and bedroom furniture with it. I had knotty pine dressers years ago.
When you have a place like that it's really nice to have some equipment that is best used sparingly. Besides I think there is some sentimental value there.
Chris, you manipulate that grapple like it was a third arm and hand on you! It is cool to watch you do your job. You definitely show your experience with your Volvo excavators. I wish I could see you use one of those logging machines that grapple the tree and cut it, then they lay it down and slide it up the trunk and cut the length of choice and it also trims the limbs off. Then you could just come back and de-stump and pluck them out of the ground.
Love the beautiful scene as you walk towards the excavators with the early morning sun shining through - early morning beauty. Huge yard trees, huge stumps and lots of brush - yeah you got it LetsDig18. Opening up the area really nicely.
By the Abandoned Farm, the Backyard around the House have Your complete new building. The Charakter is wonderful to see. How You clearing the Backyard from Tree's and Stumps. However a very good work 👌👍
I remember way back when you first got the original 220 as a used machine we all thought it was big. Now you have quite the fleet. Must be doing somthing right!!!
And how many times in the last 2 years have you seen him use the grapple? For no more than he uses the one he has a new one wouldn’t be worth the money.
Dang !! You took down a whole lot more around the house , than I thought you did, for sure !! Man, that Stumper on the 350 sure helps getting that dirt off those stumps !! Sucks !! Those Big Logs wasn't any better than they were!! Got it looking better all the time Chris !! Great as always Man !! Have a Great Evening, And, On too the Next !!
If it's solid knotty pine (not rotted) it can be used in furniture, flooring and interior trim. Knotty pine here in NY is a premium item for those uses. Mainly because the pines grown for lumber are clear so they lack the figuring of the knots.
I don’t think it’s a disaster…looks amazing especially after root raking. Nice work Chris! Doesn’t even look like the same farm. That haul truck has been a blessing, what a work horse!
So glad you’re cleaning that mess up. It was almost out of control. Lot of work when you can only fit so few stumps at a time in the dump truck. Never seen so many roots to load
Just got back from a work trip to Clarksville NC. Seeing the trees and the property around there sure bring perspective to what I see in these vids. Awesome work Chris.
Looking a lot nicer than before owner must be liking well going to be a good burn 🔥 with all the stuff that has to go i got lots of popcorn for the show 👍😎🇺🇸 NY
Someone needs to figure a stump machine for wood pulp. So much is lost or burned and the stumps are the hardest to burn. I know there are stump grinders that machines make shredded wood. Not exactly wood pulp ready wood. What a nice clean up.
Maybe somebody makes one already but a progressive link grapple would have better clamping power. It would be a little bigger than a standard grapple. Not to mention a little complicated to get both arms to work in sync with the other and of course cost more, just a thought
2 tanks of fuel in the chainsaw. You must have done at least 2 chord.Three maybe that's pretty good when I would buck it up for firewood, with my 372XP Husqvarna, 1 tank was one cord,1 hour to do it,,that's not too bad for 51yrs old,so once an hour, refill gas ,bar and chain fill, sharpen, back at it
Great Videos Chris first class work high quality job!! Have you ever tried an assistant with your videos? A MBTS type guy? Somebody to give you a different view with the camera and to cut up with? I have watched the videos with you, DP, Logger wade, the Law and the jokes are hilarious love the comradery and respect while laughing at each other....
I was surprised to see the 330 Hyundai in his fleet. Now that a brand new Volvo 350 arrived and the 330 is out of the picture. He explained the decision for getting the 330 as a temporary solution, still for a moment it felt as if DP's preference for Hyundai was rubbing off.
Tho I personally love pine trees and shade trees having them near a house is a recipe for disaster unless it's certain hard woods. We had 5 80 year old sugar trees in our yard we tapped for maple syrup, taffy and sugar every 2 years. That yard is going to look awesome once it's drainage level and covered in grass thanks to Chris's professionalism. The kind of yard you want if you have mids to raise.
Every time I see you on the D6 or any of your equipment that doesn't have a cab I think how bad it would have been if you had encountered that swarm of bees on a cabless piece of equipment. That thought alone would have me getting cab installation quotes. Hopefully doesn't happen very often but once could be fatal.
Great work and video. Would one of those grapple saws you have featured be a good fit for you and your work? I mean with your skill I would think that would save you some serious time.
Been thinking about this as well saw someplace he’s going to sell it it would be nice if it was payed off then he could have a big excavator a 220 and the 6 and the 7 on separate job sites but I understand that 350 will take a lot of work to pay it off
if wood is all that abundant in north carolina why is there no regional heating useing woodchips ? here the municipality offers a spot to bring brush free of charge - its chipped up , dried inside airated silos and used in furnances for electrical power and regional heating together with housing waste incineration and garbage incineration if you clear a lot here you lay everything over to where they can grab from the road , call municipality, they come and chip it up for free- except stumps of course , those you either need to pay for or truck them somewhere to burry - rarely do people burn stuff up like you show - usually only if vehicle access is restricted or its all branches with no real volume and burning is all done in two hours - the rest is made into firewood - meny people have wood boilers - they come and clean up whats left for free
Would a processing head that can de-limb and cut lengths not make your life easier and save you saw time specially if you could find a decent used one?

Agree 100%. Most channels have 2 or more minutes of pointless introduction crap.
I like Geoff Bealy Good, but his intro and outro take too dang long.
@@mykalmcb, remember, Geoff is using his videos as a teaching tool.
Agree!

Those crooked logs are premium stuff at Lowe's
Have to shake the squirrels out of it🤣🤣🤣🤣
Make good chair rockers!!
Couldn't have said it better.
Home Depot is not any better.

That 350 is a nice machine ... looking forward to seeing what you've got on the way from AMI.
I don't know why but the engine sounds from the D6 just don't grow old. And, congratulations on the acquisition of the new Volvo 350.
I myself prefer the sound of ol' betty. I think he keeps her on the homestead because she is fragile- breaks down too easy. Sad for me I guess

Chris the next machine you get , get a Cat D11 Bulldozer
Not pulpwood! Georgia Pacific would make 2x4's out of those and sell them to the home improvement chains.
