Great vid, thanks so much! Got to live in the Denver house Buffalo Bill died in, back in the early 70's for a few months. It felt very cool to live there in such a historical place. Biggest bear claw bath tub I've ever seen. Being 6'1" tall even I couldn't stay sitting up in it if there was more than a few inches of water in the tub. Thanks again!
Still bothers me to see people showing those fake old man pictures of Holliday, the only authentic picture known to exist of him is his dental school graduation. He died very young not a wrinkled old man.
Bat Matterson while living in NYC would be playing cards or talking and would pull his coat open to reveal a pistol. When asked about it he would say it was the same gun he had been in gunfights with or shot a certain outlaw with. People would offer him money for the gun, but he would decline. Until late in the evening and the drinks were flowing. The offer going up with each drink. He would finally give in and sell the gun for a good amount. Next morning he would go to the pawn shop and buy a five dollar gun. The bigger question as to if it wasn't Billy the Kid, then who was it. Then ask, who killed Sheriff Pat Garrett. Wyatt Earp would sit on the river on the California side looking into AZ. He always wanted to return but, there was warrant for his arrest there for murder. One of the actors he often spoke with was John Wayne. They are not sure about Jessie James. Some years back they were going to do a DNA tests on the body in the grave. They opened it and it was empty.
Four times I've seen a picture in here identifying a man as Doc Holliday who was actually John Escapule. You can look it up on the internet, it even comments that Escapule is often portrayed as Doc Holliday
at the 14:23 mark, the segment onBilly the kid begins. However the picture is of a young Jesse James. A few seconds later, a picture of the real Billy the kid is shown.
This was good shtuff! It was well presented. There was lots of badasses back then it's only the few we know about. The first sheriff of Park City was a one arm mean 'ol dude. The entire town feared him. That's how he got elected as sheriff. No one challenged him. You sir, have a proud subscriber!
I live right down the road from where Tom Mix had his ranch. He called it Spook Hill because the cattle and horses were too spooked to go near the mountain...they think because of all the rattlers up there.
So what if Crockett didn't die swinging Ol' Betsy at the heads of the attacking Mexicans. He fought at the Alamo, and he died there. Who can blame him if he wanted to live? And he's sure not the one who told the world he died fighting. There are a lot of legends about the Alamo. There was no line drawn in the sand. Sam Houston did NOT tell Travis to stay with his 186 or so men. Houston told Travis to get the hell out of there, the Alamo was a death trap. But Travis, who was a dandy who wanted to prove his bravery, wanted to give Sam time to build up an army big enough to defeat Santa Ana's army of around 3,000. Travis was expecting reinforcements from Fannin's 250 man army, but they were captured and executed at Goliad. As if those men would have made a difference in the outcome at the Alamo. So, Houston skirted around central to east Texas in the Runaway Scrape, to build their army. Finally, on April 21, 1836, the two armies met on the plains of the San Jacinto River, where the Texas Army defeated the Mexicans in 18 minutes. The Texicans battle cries were "Remember the Alamo!" and "Remember Goliad!" But, Crocket? He was a brave man, but also human, and we Texicans were proud to have him on our side. My family migrated from Missouri to Texas with Stephen F. Austin's Old 200 in the 1820s. Any Texas schoolkid knows Texas history backwards and forwards. Howdy!
I read that Crockett and a few others survived the battle, and were marched outside of the walls where the Mexican soldiers bayoneted them and passed the bodies over their heads until their blood dyed their uniforms red. That was what Susanna Dickenson told since they spared the few women and children. Either way, he survived the fight, but not the surrender. His birthplace is about 30 minutes from where I'm sitting now. Despite what the song says, he wasn't born on a mountain top, just a one room cabin next to a river lol
@samspurgeon4222 I've heard those stories, too about them being hoisted on bayonets. Its quite possibly true, who knows. I know that either way, he did have the admiration of the Mexican officers. If it IS true, I think if push came to shove, I would have rather died in battle. Lol
Very good video! I was waiting for you to tell us how Doc Holliday killed 28 people, or some such nonsense. In real life, he killed 3 people in his entire life. And he didn't give up dentistry to become a gambler, he gave it up because patients didn't like the coughing from tuberculosis. Had he been able, he would have happily performed dentistry to the end of his life!
@@ZeRowe No, I have read literally dozens of books about Doc Holliday, Wyatt Earp, and the rest. I had never heard of Frank James ever quitting the James Gang. As far as I know, it was after Jesse's Assassination that Frank gave himself up.
The delay of burying bodies because of the harsh winter is common.

Annie Oakley and Butler lived in Cambridge MD for a while. They hunted with my great uncle a few times.

The documentary didn't get into much detail if i was asked.
There were also those who wanted Cody buried at the Scout's Rest Ranch in North Platte, Nebraska.
Instead of just throwing arbitrary photos in, why not just show the real photos of who you're talking about. Might help your credibility.
