The annual rainfall in Edinburgh is just over half that of Glasgow, as I was first told in fourth year of my primary school. This principle pretty much holds for the whole west side of Scotland versus the east side of Scotland. Unfortunately, most of the touristy bits in Scotland are on the west side of the country though!
At the Royal Highland Show at Ingliston in 1964, my sales manager grandfather introduced me to one of his customers called Tom. Tom turned out to be Tom Tunnock junior, the son of the founder and, at that time, the managing director of Tunnock's. I have been a loyal customer of Tunnock's ever since, although the tea cakes are a bit of an acquired taste, if you haven't got a sweet tooth.
Fantastic work. I might attempt that one by train, Scotrail provides a decent service in the central belt. And you kept smiling even when the rain came.
I always remember in the 70s going to Scotland from the Midlands train spotting, Walking to Polmadie loco shed we got lost, We asked some lads the way and although i made out i understood them, I couldnt tell a word they were saying, We actually found our way and was allowed round nice.
That's brilliant! You're definitely not the only one struggling to understand the Scottish accent-I still struggle sometimes, too😄 Sounds like you had a great trip 😊
Hi, I would advise getting mudguards for the bike. They used to always come attached to the bike but there seems to be a trend of not putting them on now. If you've using the bike in all weathers you'll need them.
Wish you'd made it to the David Livingstone Museum.. It's a very interesting place, And it's also in my hometown of Blantyre so would have been great to see a bit of my hometown being featured. Still, never mind. Maybe some other time. Love your channel by the way.
It was great to see so much of your video that i recognised, Blantyre Farm Road, main street Uddingston, and Castle Avenue. Did you realise how close you were to David Livingstone Centre, you were literally about 10 minutes on your bike. You come out of Bothwell Castle, turn right, cycle along that road until you come to the junction at the primary school, turn right again, after about a hundred yards turn right again, cycle down that hill across the foot bridge and David Livingstone Centre is on the right, that's how close you were hahaha.
Ah well at least you had some good bakery products as a reward for completing your little excursion. I'm surprised you didn't console yourself in a pub somewhere.
A lovely video. Thank you for sharing. Please, please, please will you wear some head protection? I had an accident, hit my head on the ground, was unconscious for nine hours and spent nine days in hospital.
"I can't believe it, it's started to rain now" 😊
Come on girl! You're in Scotland! 😂😂
Good video by the way.
Hahaha very true! Was hoping to the last minute that it'd pass by me 😂
Thank you😊

That's really cool that you met Tom Tunnock Jr! I have a sweet tooth and absolutely love Tunnock's😄
Uddingston is the centre of the universe. You can go North South East or west from your doorstep. Lived here all my life and love it.
I can see why you love Uddingston, after having taken the time to visit😊
If you follow the clyde walkway it will take the stress out of cycling on the road which is no fun. Nice vid😊
Thank you, will need to keep that in mind for the next time😊Thanks for watching!

Thank you :) Yea, can really recommend the trip by train.
Haha yea, the weather a bit of a roller coaster!😀
Caramel Logs..... perhaps i should try them 🤔
They're good!😀

Yea, thanks for the tip! 😊That's exactly what I said to Iain and few days ago because the clothes just get filthy

Thank you! Yea, I'll need to go back for the David Livingstone Museum and then I can also film a bit of Blantyre😊
Great video!!
Thank you😊

Glad you recognised a lot from the video!😊 Hahaha yea, I did realise how close I was.🤣Just another reason to visit again😊
my 3rd great-grandfather is from bothwell. i hope to visit someday. (a very american cliche thing to say, i know)
Can't speak for Bothwell Castle as it was closed. But Scotland is beautiful amd always worth a visit😊
You should have gone through Glasgow Green and along the Clydeside.
Yea, will know for next time😄
Ah well at least you had some good bakery products as a reward for completing your little excursion. I'm surprised you didn't console yourself in a pub somewhere.
Yea, the Tunnock's goods were a nice wee treat!
Haha I was surprised, too🤣
Excellent vid but missed opportunity to show Tunnocks bakery shop frontage which has some v nice glass
Good shout - just another reason to visit again! 😊
A lovely video. Thank you for sharing.
Please, please, please will you wear some head protection?
I had an accident, hit my head on the ground, was unconscious for nine hours and spent nine days in hospital.
Oh no, I hope you're ok now! 😲Yes, I will definitely wear a helmet in future -have learned my lesson after that trip.😊
Not accessible by bike if you are 77. Why not take the train . More time in Uddingston.
Good point - the train to Uddingston is pretty good as well!
The list is endless of places in Scotland the tourists dont or won't visit lol. Hell even some Scots won't visit them either.
Now that is very true🤣🤣
@@terrifictraveltaleshave you visited them? I doubt it.
Haven't visited all of them yet😄
The accent comments are strange because you sound Scottish, almost rural west coast.
To be honest, I've never thought about my accent so much until starting this channel🤣
Take train lot easier
Yea, the trains to Uddingston are very regular
If you can not say anything good about a place don’t say anything I am sick of people who just think they have the right to say anything
Thanks for your comment. Completely agree-that's why I did have positive things to say and will even visit again. But I understand your frustration😊
If people don’t like somewhere they are allowed to say so
