If you are seeking to rise into a chief of police position you are well advised to give thought to where you are seeking to take the agency that you will be leading. This future outlook is what is commonly referred to as a “vision statement”.
When this is done well, the vision statement will be a future oriented, inspiring statement of how the agency will be better years from now as a result of your leadership.
