Loved your Flosstube!! I need to get my Emerald city back out!!! I love the addition of the beads! We will mention you on our Flosstube next week. I love that you were able to rescue that beautiful stitch from the Thrift Store.
Thank you so much!!! I’m so happy to finally “ meet” you both. If you get a chance to view my flosstube number #1 introduction as I think you will enjoy my 🛷 and 🦌!!
Your Emerald City project is so much fun - I think you should go with the red slippers - I love that idea. I don’t think you will have any regrets. It’s your creation. Great show - thanks for sharing.😊
You are SOOOOO lucky to find that Nantucket Rose......how gorgeous! Absolutely beautiful. I am anxious to see your sparkling thread on your Zodiac chart.
I would never get a paycheck if I worked in a cross stitch shop...in fact, I would probably be in the minus and owe them every pay day! What a lovely thrift store find! I found a gorgeous piece once..a view of a harbor from a hillside, done on linen and absolutely amazing. I spent a fortune having it framed but don't regret it one bit! I, too, wonder about the story behind the "orphans" we find. Once I heard the comment that it was probably a person with sons who were cleaning out after a death, etc. because women know how special those things are! I'm sure some angel smiles because you love her work! LOVE your Emerald City!!!
Hello lovely stitchy friend. I love it you promote the hygge lifestyle, it is an inspiration for living a life full of warmth and love. I love your projects Samantha. Thx so much for sharing. I wish you a Hygge week with some hot drinks and some gorgeous stitching. Hug Cindy
Samantha, I love your positive vibes and pure joy for stitching! Your creative twist in adding colorful beads to your Owl Forest Embroidery Emerald City was inspired! Love those kinds of executive decisions. Yes, your daughter is correct about the silver slippers.....however, I think you should keep them red ruby sparkling slippers because....well, they've got pizzazz.😆😉 I've pre-ordered "What Remains is Love" by Blackbird Designs, thanks to you .🤣 I can't even believe that beautiful Lavender and Lace piece was donated to Value Village...and that it was on sale for $1.99. Toasty was listening to your story and was shocked too. So glad your gf rescued it! Great episode! Keep doing what you're doing. 💘🪡
Thank you for your video. Ruby slippers for sure! Good progress on your WIPS. Beautiful save for you on that Lavender and Lace piece. Definitely get it reframed. Country Stutchers flosstube is a must. Once upon a Sritch; Rustic Threads; Stitching with the Waves; Yankee Creek Stitcher; Handwork Maniac. These are must watch. Take care and happy stitching!
Wow. What a thrift store find. I need to get back to some shopping. On your Emerald City project, I love the beads. I would leave the red shoes as a nod to the movie as that is how so many of us know the story. The red is a very small, subtle addition.
I wish you had let hubby peek on screen to say hi! Keep the ruby slippers! Besides you, my favorite flosstubers so far are ElizabethAnnCanStitch, HandsAcrossTheSea, ShandaStitchingInIdaho and TinaStitches. I really liked FarmGirlDryGoods, but rarely see her anymore. The ones I don’t enjoy are the ones who seem like they just start a video with no preparation. I also can’t enjoy the ones who have half the screen on their ceiling. Your videos bring me joy!
What a wonderful find of the Lavender and Lace stitched project. This brand was my favorite in the ‘90’s. Keep the ruby slippers, everyone remembers that part of the movie. Who remembers the book except you precious daughter. Happy Stitching from South Carolina.
Hi Samantha! I too just watched the movie and not read the book so the slippers will always be ruby red! Great rescue! Happy stitching! Lori at Once Upon a Stitch
Your owl forest Emerald City looks fabulous! I like how you left off the facial features and backstitch. I might change mine!! I totally agree about mystery stitch alongs, I find myself a little disappointed. They get hyped up too much lol
Great video Samantha ❤️ … love all your projects. I’m working on What Remains also! Along with too many others 😊 Love the look you gave to that interrupter 😂 … great eye roll!
So great to see you! Love your Owl Forest project and the addition of sparklies! I would definitely leave the red shoes in! My first love is samplers so Saltbox Stitcher, Nicole's Needlework and Brenda and The Serial Starter are full of inspiration but there are so many who inspire me. I love The Contented Stitcher as she is really gifted at changing things up to suit what she wants and Celeste Creates is another favourite...there really are so many fabulous flosstubers and you are one of them too Samantha! Thanks so much and happy stitching!
I am behind, but I am catching up from your first video. What a sad but wonderful outcome for the L&L xs. $2?! That is crazy! Your face when your husband walked in was priceless! 😊
I think you should leave the Ruby slippers in! They look great there. I like the Diamant thread. I stitched an ornament at Xmas with it and it was really pretty and easy thread to work with. I love to watch the Kindred Stitcher and the Colorado Cross Stitcher. That Value Village find was perfect for you!
I think you have done a wonderful job with your Oz piece. If you change the shoes to a sparkly silver, it will blend with the colors that are already in this piece. So it won’t stand out as much and will blend better. I’m stitching a mystery SAL with Stitchonomy. Alyssa is in the Netherlands but has an Etsy shop & instagram. She also has a UA-cam channel and has a pattern club. I’m almost done with it, I started it January 2nd. Happy Stitching 🧵🪡
Hi Samantha, I always enjoy looking at your videos. You are a great stitcher (I want to be just like you when I grow up, ha ha). I am doing the Emerald City , started in April of 2020 and had put it away and recently continued. I started at the top instead and I’m up to the witch. I did the slippers using petite treasure braid#PB07. Also, made a change and substituted the witch’s umbrella with a broom. I would leave the slippers in red. Yours is coming out so beautiful!
Glad you rescued the Nantucket Rose...what a find! I enjoy Stitching in the Land of Good Enough, The Vintage Stitcher, Nicky Noodles, Helen D. I would keep the red slippers!
Hi Samantha, thank you for a wonderful flosstube, i enjoy watching you. The Nantucket Rose, what a great find!!!! Others mentioned them too but Vonna Pfeiffer and Helen D filmed great tutorials. Love all your wips. I don't know who it was that came in shouting: i am excited too! but that was funny, especialy your face in reaction to it. Glad you kept it in the video.
Your WIPS are great. Love to see the progress of your work. I have a huge list of flosstubers that I watch but to name a few....Stituation Normal, Evertote, Bendy Stitchy, Sunshine Stitchers, Elizabeth Ann Can Stitch, Stitching Goddess Designs. There are a whole lot more but I wanted to keep the list shortish. Evertote (a Canadian company) is working with Jacob to get patterns fabric and floss (Leo &Roxy). You should check them out.
I love your ruby slipper addition! :D I have mixed feelings about Nantucket Rose. What a find for you but how sad that someone's hard work went to the thrift store. :(
Keep the ruby red slippers on the witch. That is the quintessential element in the movie. I love your addition of beads to the OFE Emerald City pattern. I have the pattern, but haven't started it. Would it fit on a fat quarter? The most inspirational floss tubers for me are Brenda and the Serial Starter and Carol Saltbox Stitcher. I watch their videos several times each because the eye candy goes by so fast. Thanks for sharing your projects. Stay well. Best, K
Oh my gosh. PLEASE LEAVE THE SLIPPERS! I love the red slippers! I would definitely do them red in order to honor the movie. I really want to do this one. Maybe I’ll try to kit that up when I go to the LNS on Saturday. I really love watching Mary - Daydream Stitcher and Ilonka - Stitchilonka! They’re both great to watch and see everything they’re doing. I also look forward to seeing your videos. And now every time I watch I think about your hair being down 🤣🤣 that one comment has made me notice it everytime. 🤦♀️
If it looked good, I would keep the red shoes but add some sparkly silver beads. If it looks wonky, just go with what the rest of the pattern is modeled on. I hear the books and the movie are very different. But as usual it boils down to what you as the creator wants to live with. If it looks good and it doesn't bother you, go for it!!!!
Definitely keep the Ruby Slippers! They’re so cute! I watch may floss tubes but some of my very favorites are, GQS,Laura and Brenda, Pam and Steph, Crafty Cottage stitches, Lori Holt, the Virginian Stitcher and so many more❤️
Great video, I enjoyed it so much 😍 I am watching all of the above mentioned flosstubes😍 Because I am crazy😝 And I love seeing what people stitch or buy🤗Recently I found Needle and Flax flosstube and watched each epizode 2-3 times, they are so good 🤤🤤🤤 Leave the red slippers, I loved that change👍 and I loved what you did with beads too👏 Best wishes from Lithuania 🇱🇹
Since you haven't read the books I'd totally keep the red shoes, it's a big part of the movie. :) Plus even if there is no other red in the pattern that's such a small amount it's not gonna be an eyesore.
Flosstubers are wonderful. I watch as I cross stitch and while I work on my quilts. You are fun to watch. You are so upbeat and your projects are beautiful. Sewmesarah does beautiful work and has such a calm way of speaking . Deb and Liz of countrystitchers are inspirational. Carol, the salt box stitcher, has all the samplers. I could go on and on. Floss tubers are awesome!
Love that you added beads to the Emerald City stitch. I would take out the red and replace with silver beads. I love ✨💖 sparkles as well and have used beads myself instead of French knots. The voice in the background was funny 😆.
Hi Samantha! I am tuning in from southern Minnesota. I just finished binge-watching all of your Flosstubes, so I am all caught up. I really enjoy your chanel and your super positive attitude! I love all of the Hawk Run Hollow series as well. I am working away on Christmas at Hawk Run Hollow. I currently have 6 of the 12 blocks done. You can see my progress on "Welcome to WIPs and Sips". This is a flosstube that I do with my best friend of 50 years (and owner of my LNS, Welcome Stitchery) Justine. We would love it if you would give our Flosstube a watch. We have 6 shows up now, and are recording #7 this coming weekend. The first couple of shows are a little "rough" (as I think all first videos are), but I think we are getting into the groove now, and we have 2 WIP parade shows that are pretty fun! I am a dog person, and I love seeing (and hearing) your beautiful Stella! Your work is so inspiring! Stay warm up there!
Love the beads you added to Emerald City. I would put red beaded shoes on Dorothy in a heartbeat and black beaded shoes on the witch. Love the piece you saved.
I have the Zodiac pattern and I was going to stitch it on a 16ct lilac Aida, however, when I saw the picture of the gothic fabric, I immediately went to order it! I totally agree, Zodiac will look amazing on it. Would you consider doing a SAL? I also get inspired by Pam and Steph. Minnie All XXs is another stitcher who inspires me.
🤗 I would leave the ruby red slippers on the witch and I love the addition of the beads on the piece as well, can’t wait to see the lion in whisper! Take care.
Suggestion for a black sampler - Owl Forest's Vintage Black Sampler. Who I watch depends on my mood. I don't have any interest in stitching traditional samplers, but I can certainly admire them!
The Flosstubers that inspire me are Carol the Saltbox Stitcher, Brenda and the Serial Starter, Jenni Stitching Simply, Suzy Reno and I enjoy you. Your upbeat energy makes me want to stitch everything. Thanks!!!
Hi Samantha !~ Another wonderful visit ! I am VERY happy that that ' Rescue ' piece IS in your hands - no better homage. Funny that you brought up the Red slippers..... I couldn't wrap my head around Dorothy NOT wearing the Slippers !!!!! There HAS to be Ruby Red Slippers !!! so..... If you honor the book - give the witch the Silver slippers and Put the ruby ones on Dorothy - with the End Diamonte Thread ???! If your honor the movie - either way - I think it is kinda cool to have them on the Witch !!! LOOOOVE the added beads !!!!! Now..... Loved the " stretch ' sound from that Gorgeous Lab !..... but the Question is...... WHO was that guy that was " Excited , too " ? Your son I am thinking ????? !!!! OR, your lab is VERY gifted !!!!! ( * ; ^ ) Thank you for the joy of you ! Always delightful. (((hugs))) marcia
Fun video! Looking forward to your big reveal, when it’s framed. Regarding the red shoes, I like them, and also your addition of the beads. Makes the piece uniquely yours. That zodiac SAL is going to be beautiful, I look forward to seeing your progress on that. Some flosstubers that I particularly enjoy are Shanda stitchinginidaho, Amy Loves Toads, and April May June Stitcher. And you, of course! 😃
I have the Nantucket Rose chart and slowly collecting the floss for it, you were so lucky to have saved her. Your work is so lovely , always enjoy your videos and seeing what you have been up to. Happy Stitching!
Leave those ruby slippers...looks perfect to me! One of my favorite stitchers is Alba stitcher. I love her Scottish accent and she chooses charts that I am stitching or have stitched. To me, your stitching is perfect! I always enjoy seeing what you are working on! I have stitched for many years and Lavender and Lace was one of the "hard" charts back in the day. ( I never stitched any as I am lazy..lol) Check out Half Stitch Cross Stitch....I believe she stitched this one but I cannot remember when. She stitches lots of the more involved charts like the one you got at the Thrift Store.
“I’m Excited Too!” You handled that like a flosstube pro 👀 😂 Keep her red shoes on, that’s one of the most memorable scenes from the movie. And the beading! What a Beautiful piece. My ‘inspiration’ flosstubers are Emily C from Eclectic Possessions, Olivia B, Ellen Reid, Kitten Stitcher, Brenda & Laura (obv) and Carol Saltbox Stitcher (obv) oh and Kristie Crosshatch Quilts. I could go on…but a new to me flosstube channel I’ve just recently found is Megan the Wide Eyed Stitcher and Jenni Simply Stitching. All great people sharing their projects and love for our craft. And you! Keep up the videos Samantha - can’t wait to see the framed piece in February…And a big hug for Stella. 💖 from Atlanta
I love the idea of you adding the ruby slippers. By the way Fox and Rabbit just released a red sampler for Brenda's (Brenda and the Serial Stitcher) birthday. They've now made it available to us for free. All they ask is that we donate to any charity of our choice in Brenda's name. You may want to check it out. One stitcher that inspires me is mamalovesyougb. Take care.
I REALLY want to start the OFE Emerald city and the Alice in Wonderland! I say keep the red slippers bc it makes for a good story. I didn’t know it was different in the movie from the book 📕🤔
I love the red witch's shoe! I would keep it in the project. Apparently in the orient (China?) I was told an artist in any project puts something red in their art work, even if it's not in the actual colour scheme. I love watching you :) and what a great thrift store find!
Please leave in the Red Shoes! They’re a great addition. I watch Pam&Steph too, have you watched Handwork Maniac? She’s fabulous, she stitches a variety of projects on a variety of fabrics too. Definitely worth watching. Thank you for another great Flosstube . Happy Stitching
Hi Samantha, definitely keep the red slippers! Check out Vonna Pfeiffer - The Twisted Stitcher for tutorials on finishing and also Helen D - they're both fantastic. My favourite to watch is Dena at Half Stitch, Jeannine McGowan The Blue Flower, Elizabeth Ann Can Stitch, Marlene - Stitching by the Lake and Brenda at Handwork Maniac. Give Stella a belly rub from me! Best wishes ❤️
What a find! I am glad you rescued Nantucket Rose. I remember it from the 90s. Those DMC metallic threads are gorgeous! I need to collect them. I just found a very old WIP from PS Winter where I switched out the white for a metallic white. I decided to pull the threads and work on it in February. Why did it even disappear in the cupboard? I loved the tiny glimpses in the shop. Would you be able to do a video showing the shop? Have a happy and creative Tuesday!!! Waving from The Netherlands again!
Hello Susan! I'm stitching emerald city on 32ct. 2 over 2. Tomorrow, I have a new video releasing and you will have to tune in to see my latest update on Emerald City! Thank you so much for watching :)

What a gorgeous dog! I love Olivia at Pumpkin Hollow! She also quilts (and I don't) so I love to admire hers. Her stitching schedule is Admirable!!
I enjoy her channel as well. She’s is very inspiring!

Definitely keep the ruby red slippers! Love the way the beads you used gives a muted bling.
Pam from stitching between the lines is one of my fav
That is a lovely rescue. It is one of the older Lavender and Lace piece.
Great progress on Emerald city. Maybe witch should just have funky socks as Dorothy is already wearing the shoes
Lol when your dog groaned I was at work listening and got concerned that it was my other coworker. 😂
Great video! I think the red pops but I am sure silver would be beautiful too ♥️♥️♥️
I vote yes! for the ruby red slippers.
Your owl forest Emerald City looks fabulous! I like how you left off the facial features and backstitch. I might change mine!! I totally agree about mystery stitch alongs, I find myself a little disappointed. They get hyped up too much lol
I have nan tucket rose stitched and framed and like you I love it ! I stitch it in 2004 !
I love the red slippers.
Great video Samantha ❤️ … love all your projects. I’m working on What Remains also! Along with too many others 😊 Love the look you gave to that interrupter 😂 … great eye roll!

Love what you are doing with Emerald City. Keep the red slippers. I stitched this and I changed the slippers that are in the top left to red.
Love that you added beads to the Emerald City stitch. I would take out the red and replace with silver beads. I love ✨💖 sparkles as well and have used beads myself instead of French knots. The voice in the background was funny 😆.

That Nantucket Rose piece is beautiful. Love your beading too! I vote you keep the ruby red slippers.
I like how you added the beads to the Wizard of Oz piece and I like the idea to add the whisper for the lion. Yes...keep the ruby red slippers!
I have the Zodiac pattern and I was going to stitch it on a 16ct lilac Aida, however, when I saw the picture of the gothic fabric, I immediately went to order it! Hi Holly ! Great suggestion!! Thank you for watching !
Keep the Ruby Slippers!!! I love your addition of bead’s!!! I think I will also add some to mine (when I start it😳😂)
The Flosstubers that inspire me are Carol the Saltbox Stitcher, Brenda and the Serial Starter, Jenni Stitching Simply, Suzy Reno and I enjoy you. Your upbeat energy makes me want to stitch everything. Thanks!!!

Love the red slippers and the addition of the beads!
I’m happy to see that there are people other than myself who also rescue thrift store stitching. Thanks for the video!
I have the Nantucket Rose chart and slowly collecting the floss for it, you were so lucky to have
saved her. Your work is so lovely , always enjoy your videos and seeing what you have been up
to. Happy Stitching!
Awe… Thank you so much Becki !!!
I love the Oz item. I think you should keep the Red slippers.
I think your right!!! Thank you for your comments. Until next time , happy stitching xxxx
I have this to do sometime. Definitely keep the ruby slippers in!
Hi Pauline! I could agree with you more!! Thank you so much for watching and happy stitching 🧵 🪡🦋
The Nantucket Rose has been in my stash, fully kitted since the 1990s. Makes me want to pull it out.
I stitched Nantucket Rose back in the 90's! It hangs in my house and is one of my favorites!
It’s so pretty, I love it too ❤️Thank you so much for watching 🦋🧵🪡 until next time …. Happy stitching!
What is your fabric and size for the Emerald City? It looks like one strand when you hold up close. I love your enthusiasm for stitching
