I am a Japanese high school student. This song was encouraged when I was worried about the future due to poor test results. This song is like a tailwind pushing my back. Thanks to everyone who made the movie The Greatest Showman.
Dude u should've made a reference to "From up on poppy hill" and gone "this is a highschool student from Japan!" Like that one guy trying to tune in to the radio at the clubhouse
I feel you. I wasn't on the hype train from the beginning but the music and trailer last month changed my mind. In fact, I haven't been this eagerly anticipating a movie musical since Frozen four years ago. As for Star Wars, I'm not a big fan of the franchise but it is just something enjoy from a more casual standpoint of the fan spectrum.
I cant believe this movie was three years ago. Time flies by so fast. Edit: sigh, we're already halfway through the year of 2021and another year would pass. The world seems like its getting tougher day by day, but witnessing that people keep on coming back to this song and reminiscing old memories together, I find it really beautiful. To anyone who's reading this, I hope you have a wonderful day ❤️
Leaving a comment here so whenever anyone likes this it reminds me of what I need to do,get out of funk and listen to this masterpiece again. Edit:862 likes goodness thank you everyone! Edit:2.4K likes goodness and it’s really been 8 months where has the time gone.
I saw the sun begin to dim And felt that winter wind Blow cold A man learns who is there for him When the glitter fades and the walls won't hold 'Cause from then, rubble What remains Can only be what's true If all was lost There's more I gained 'Cause it led me back To you From now on These eyes will not be blinded by the lights From now on What's waited 'til tomorrow starts tonight Tonight Let this promise in me start Like an anthem in my heart From now on From now on I drank champagne with kings and queens The politicians praised my name But those are someone else's dreams The pitfalls of the man I became For years and years I chased their cheers The crazy speed of always needing more But when I stop And see you here I remember who all this was for And from now on These eyes will not be blinded by the lights From now on What's waited 'til tomorrow starts tonight It starts tonight And let this promise in me start Like an anthem in my heart From now on From now on From now on And we will come back home And we will come back home Home, again! And we will come back home And we will come back home Home, again! And we will come back home And we will come back home Home, again! And we will come back home And we will come back home Home, again! And we will come back home And we will come back home Home, again! And we will come back home And we will come back home (Yes) Home, again! And we will come back home And we will come back home Home, again! From now on These eyes will not be blinded by the lights! From now on! What's waited 'til tomorrow starts tonight! It starts tonight! Let these promise in me start Like an anthem in my heart From now on From now on From now on And we will come back home And we will come back home Home, again! (Oooo uuuu) From now on From now on Home, again!
This was the perfect song choice for our secondary school (high school) graduation. We all sang our hearts out and I will honestly never forget that moment.
I get choked up every time this song comes on in the movie. It represents such realistic realizations, love, and unity. Something the world is in desperate need of as of now.
For someone who has faced self-hatred because of recent events and the overthinking, I must say that this song gives me goosebumps and tears in my eyes. Idk if I’m making any sense but I feel the redemption in this song, and I feel like I have to redeem myself from all the pain I put myself through. So I guess I’m sharing too much but I just love how this song touched me so much.
Lucifer Morningstar ye it’s the exact same with me it just makes me think “thi is the new you and everything is going to be okay” and it’s such an emotional song
I just told my husband this tops my favorite musicals currently. I loved the music and the story. Just all around feel good. I can’t wait to watch it again with my kids.
Hugh: Skips all the other songs which are more low key and would take less energy and excitement. Stand in starts From Now On Hugh: *gets look in his eye* Hughs Doctor: No, you were doing so good, don’t do it! No Hugh!! Hugh: FROM NOW ON!!!!
I don't care if it's in the middle of 2020 - The Greatest Showman still has one of the best soundtracks. Edit: It's 2021, and I am still loving it New Edit: 2022, and I STILL LOVE IT Edit for 2023: Guess what? Still love the song- 2024: You guessed it! Still love the song (Last year, I got to see Hugh Jackman perform live (for something else), but for some reason, that only made me like this more! 😅)
Winston K. I know! Me, too. I have this song on repeat on Spotify right now, and goosebumps everywhere. I love this song more after seeing the behind the scenes clip of them doing this song at the table reading.
I now realize what this song means, it’s a sign for all of us not to ever give up, your going to have a bad day, but in the end, you are beautiful and you are a strong fighter, everyone who reads this comment, know that you are strong brave, and beautiful. Keep going and never ever give up
His voice is just so sincere and emotional when he sings by himself from the beginning through the second verse! The first verse and chorus make me tear up because at the start he’s at rock bottom and realizing his mistakes. And then he gets to “cause it lead me back to you” and the first chorus and he’s seen his path forward. I’m happy crying when he gets to “but when I stop and see you here I remember who all this was for!” I love the resolve and defiance in the second verse! And then the hope when they all start singing together and it just makes you want to dance! But they couldn’t have gotten a better soloist!
zapzap 32 I don't think so, this was one of the last parts of the movie where Mr.Barnum and the rest of the circus is at the bar, then he takes the train to his wife's house to win her back.
hellokytii so he sings it in the bar when the circus is with him and he realizes that he has to change for Charity and takes the train to her house at about 3:20 and the song ends as he's walking to Charity's house and they do a soft rendition of it at the beach?
My favorite scene was the Greatest Show Reprise where he handed over the circus so he could spend time with his family. Then when he and his wife were sitting in the theatre watching their daughters made me start balling
I thought during this emotional scene that it would have been funny to have a cute shitzu in the scene.i was out in the lobby and this song was thundering through the lobby came across like a wedding dance.
I had a great day yesterday. I went ice skating with a bunch of friends for the first time and had a blast, and then afterwards we went and did karaoke. When this song came on, everybody joined in, doing the dancing and everything, it was such a surreal experience. I got to sing the lead with a close friend, and it was just impossible to describe. This song is fantastic.
Dem, to have a group of people that enjoys this The Greatest Showman and go to a karaoke would be amazing to hear the voices of many. Rather than singing along.
can we just take a second to appreciate how diverse of an actor hugh jackman is, hes wolverine but also P.T Barnum and other characters that are so different, also, he sings like a freakin legend every like is an oscar for him
That's acting Part of being a successful actor is being able to play a diverse range of characters and display a diverse range of attitudes and emotions
5 years of The most motivational song from any movie ever. Thank you to the cast and crew of The Greatest Showman! The world thanks you for this movie and it's music!

+Hannah Poor Hella true, makes you go sob in a corner knowing you'll basically never cross paths with such a perfect specimen of a man😿😿😧. They're just too horrendously rare🙄.
I couldn't agree more! I wanted to rewatch the movie for that scene. The whole theater was shaking from the bass and the camera and choreography was bomb.
just came back from watching this movie and I loved every moment and just about every song from this soundtrack...and i can honestly say this is one of the few movies Ive watched where everyone stood up and gave it a standing ovation~ Truly outstanding ... Hugh Jackman's performance is legendary
Manuel Orozco, I did not realize he had a cameo in that movie. Good to know :) Elizabeth K: yes, he did a wonderful job in that movie. My jaw dropped a few times while watching it.
Oh my gosh. This song is amazing. I haven't seen the movie yet, but this song alone is enough reason for me to go. And "This Is Me" made me cry so hard the first time I heard it straight through.
Never Enough is fantastic too. I love Tightrope too. A Million Dreams is awesome ... lol okay I'll stop or else I'd keep going because I basically loved all the songs.

xxwhispersxx I agree .. While I was watching the movie this song made me cry the most (because I cried multiple times) I was like shaking while ugly crying Hugh Jackmans performance was amazing
He's actually super sweet and funny irl! It just shows he's such a professional actor to switch his front to a fierce broken mutant like Logan to an ambitious dreamer like PT!
"Let this promise in me start Like an anthem in my heart" are honestly my favorite lines I have know idea why but they just gives me chills 😍😍 honestly this whole sound track is completely stunning
Mine too everything about this song gives me chills everything about Hugh Jackman gives me chills he's so perfect he's an amazing actor and singer and everything!
I'm depressed, anxiety, always hiding. But "from now on" 01.01.2020 , i'll chase a million dreams, i think it's never be enough, i know it seems greedy, but this is me and i'll keep rewriting the stars, also this is the right time to go to the other side, in the end my life would be the greatest show. Goodbye 2019, Hola 2020, out of expectation, corona looks like a tightrope for me
lil fox it began with my decision to change my religion, i'm christian now, but my moslem friends nd family really mad at me, but i think they need a lotta things to understand me, life's about choice. So, i don't let others take.. what is mine. Particularly, my choice
I saw the movie when I was homesick during my 1 year stay in the U.S. (I'm from Germany) and I was so emotional and started crying when they sang "and we will come back home, and we will come back home, home agaaaaaain" every time I still get chills. This song is amazing and wonderful and great ... ! 😍
I've seen several of their performances. Gary Oldman deserves it probably, but Hugh Jackman at least deserves an Oscar nomination. Hugh, unfortunately, won't get an Oscar nomination. It's all political... critics and Hollywood Elitists don't really like Hugh. I think Hugh was way better in The Greatest Showman than Ryan Gosling, who got an Oscar nomination for La La Land last year. Also, I far preferred Hugh's performance to James Franco's in The Disaster Artist and Daniel Kaluuya's in Get Out. I also thought Hugh was better than Timothy Calamet (sp.?) in Call Me By Your Name and Denzel Washington in Roman J. Israel, Esq.
Theresa Mahfood Certain things have to be noted. Everybody loves Hugh, even the critics. There is simply no denying how stupidly talented Hugh is. It has nothing to do with the Oscars being political. If the Academy didn't like him, he wouldn't get nominated for Les Miserable. As for Ryan Gosling, you're forgetting he was nominated last year. Getting the Oscar for Best Actor isn't about how consistently good you are or if you were better than last year's winner, unless its an Honorary award. If it was, Leonardo DiCaprio would've had an Oscar a decade ago. If Hugh would get nominated for anything this year, it's going to be for Logan. Hugh was entirely playing someone else in that movie in contrast to The Greatest Showman, which, when you think about it, was Hugh mostly playing himself (which isn't a bad thing at all). Franco was playing a very different person with very different mannerisms. That role ties with Hugh's performance in Logan for me. Kaluuya and Chamalet were able to display a variety of intense emotions. Already, I thought they were better than Hugh in TGS. Also, watching Chamalet go from Lady Bird to Call Me By Your Name just shows off his range. And you're forgetting the biggest contender this year, usually like he is every year,......Daniel Day-Lewis, renewed as the greatest actor today, possibly of all time. The guy who only does a movie ever 4-5 years and when he does a movie, the question is never will be getting an Oscar nomination, but if he will win the Oscar this year.
I am a disabled Vet (USMC) who is also house-bound due to Parkinson's Disease. As you might imagine...I have had many dark days since returning home from Afghanistan. I watched this movie for the first time a couple of nights ago and I can't articulate how it has affected me. Here I am...a combat Vet...who by the grace of God got through more than a few fire fights...and this movie brought me to tears. I've been listening to the soundtrack nonstop since and this song in particular makes my eyes tear up. I don't know why...I'm just thankful that I can feel something other than pain and anger for the first time in a very long time. My thanks to the composers, singers, and the entire cast and especially to Hugh Jackman for making this movie come to life. And...while I know no one in the cast will probably ever read my comments...again...thanks Wolverine!
@@syxgwendol8972 I love the fact that at the end of the song Philip Carlyle wakes up and that Anne Wheeler kisses him, for me that's the best part of the movie.
I *love* how *comfortable* and *earnest* Jackman sounds here and through the rest of the score. While I recognize that any of these vocals involve a whole lot of construction, practice, time and effort, this track in particular makes it easy to be swept away with Jackman in the lead.
I thought his first big role was Australia's Gaston . . .? Although I believe he was 'discovered' for film on Broadway but that's muddy. I was more referring to just how much he leans into these songs. I loved his Les Mis but always felt like he was 'pushing' in some ways to sing the score. Here he just sounds like he his having a ball and it *sounds* easier for him. I don't know if this is because of the way the songs are constructed, the overall emotional content of the script (It is, you know, _slightly_ lighter than Les Mis), change in vocal coach, or just age and comfort itself. That being said, working closely with composers *while they are composing* allows for a mutual understanding of the range and style of the performer and the way the construction of the songs can highlight those aspects. It's either that or they come up with an arrangement that does the same thing. I just wanted to give credit to those people involved as well as highlight the years of work Jackman himself has put into being able to perform.
Well with Les Mis the songs were mostly already there, and the musical had been done so he was fitting into a part. This was more probably written with him in mind like you said considering him and the producer had started talking about making it after he did his stint at the Oscars. Plus this music just seems to bring such joy in him, I don't know if you saw the clip of him singing From Now On for the first reading of it on 20th century fox where he had just had surgery the day before to remove cancer around his nose and the doctor told him he couldn't sing because of the stitches. He made it through without singing until they got to that song because he just got so into it and went to town. Consequently he did start bleeding and had to go repair some of the stitches. Even some of the clips I've seen where he was watching the others sing he started tearing up, this obviously comes from a very emotional place for him and it shows with the passion him and the other singers have while doing the songs. This movie was so amazing. Also, yeah he got cast as wolverine and auditioned for it while he was still playing Curly in Oklahoma at the National Theater (I believe it's called) thus began his exposure to American audiences.
Yeah. I mean, they can alter and arrange but that score is tattooed into millions of hearts so they had a narrow range unless they went full "re-imagine" in terms of Les Mis. Also, again, owning it had a completely different emotional gut-punch I don't expect to be grinning ear-to-ear while watching. Even the uplifting end is bitter-sweet _at best_ in Les Mis. I haven't seen that clip of him singing through stitches, I heard the story but didn't know it had actually been recorded! *cracks knuckles to scour internet* Also I totally agree about it coming from an emotional place and hitting those chords. It is unabashedly hopeful and that can be so powerful both in the theater and on screen. Musical confession, I'm not a really big fan of Oklahoma so I've only seen parts of that performance. *shame* Still, after I saw him sing parts of "I Could have Danced All Night" on some musical retrospective TV show (Might have been AMC's 100 greatest ____) I'm happy I went to check out his performance in Oklahoma. I *may* have been in fan-love ever since.
Michelle Alexander because Justin and Benji and the director wanted him to sound different so he found another vocal teacher. He even said in one interview that he feel more comfortable singing this way. Hence your feeling is totally on spot.
Liza David I saw it. It works well. As far as this soundtrack, though, From Now On is great to close with as it sort of lingers for awhile afterward. This soundtrack is perfect!!!!!!
Lonell Fletcher Oh gosh, I thought that this WAS a broadway production...I heard so much about it from others in my Broadway groups on Facebook (XD). But, you’re right! It would go to The Greatest Showman!
I cry every time I listen to this song. Its lyrics, its rhythm they reach something I hide deeply inside my heart. The moment I start singing along, it reminds me of all the promises I gave to my younger self and inspires me to ignore all the obstacles in my way, to just DREAM again and do my best to fulfill my dreams no matter how long it takes or hard it will be. And that is exactly what I have recently decided to do and I will not stop this time until I achieve my goals. And I wish you all the best in your efforts to make your dreams come true :) ~What's waited 'til tomorrow starts tonight Let this promise in me start Like an anthem in my heart From now on"~
Every time I listen to a song from this movie I think, "This is the best song of the movie." And then I listen to the next one... and the next one.. this whole soundtrack is amazing, and the visuals of the actual movie take them to some other, ethereal level.

Thanks for posting. Line at the end of the first verse is "there's more I gained". Also, I think he goofed saying "then rubble." Makes more sense if it's "that rubble." Whatever- it's a great song and scene in an awesome movie.
“FROM NOW ON!” I Swear I Feel The Volume And Emotions This Song Has. It Feels Like Someone Had A Second Chance At Redemption. And Try One Of Their Best To Get Their Wishes True, “AND WE WILL COME BACK HOME!” That Feels… Like They Are Proud. I Still Like All The Songs.
I am so obsessed with this song, its so powerful, this whole album is in the same league as Andrew Lloyd Webber music!! Lyrics anyone: I saw the sun begin to dim And felt that winter wind Blow cold A man learns who is there for him When the glitter fades and the walls won't hold Cause from then, rubble What remains Can only be what's true If all was lost Is more I gain Cause it led me back To you From now on These eyes will not be blinded by the light From now on What's waited till tomorrow starts tonight Tonight Let this promise in me start Like an anthem in my heart From now on From now on I drank champagne with kings and queens The politicians praised my name But those are someone else's dreams The pitfalls of the man I became For years and years I chased their cheers The crazies be always needed more But when I stop And see you here I remember who all this was for And from now on These eyes will not be blinded by the light From now on What's waited till tomorrow starts tonight It starts tonight And let the promise in me start Like an anthem in my heart From now on From now on From now on And we will come back home And we will come back home Home, again! Andrew Lloyd Webber music is mostly stolen from other composers. There are countless examples here on UA-cam if you care to check it out. Personally I'd compare this more to Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty's work on Ragtime and Anastasia.
Was in the hospital for 62 days (42 on ICU) and learning this song to thank our choir ioca for all the support they gave me. Returned finally home end of may and got this song sung by our choir (each one singing individually at home because of the lockdown). My tears still start running when hearing this song. But we will sing it all together the next public performance. I love those people because a man learns who is there for him....

Sometimes you get ahead of yourself in life. You get so used to your daily routine, and just waste away. You forget about the people who made the life you have possible, and we only realize when they leave. I love you, Papa. May you ride your motorcycle among the country sides of heaven ❤
This song is hands down the best song in the whole film. This is magical with that soft piano buildup with Hugh Jackman slowly building up the song and then at the 3:00 it builds up to this amazing crescendo of everyone coming together just singing adding to the magical atmosphere and that ending part with Philip and Anne, it's a just a soft ending to the song. Before I saw this film I was so skeptical about it since I'm not really into musicals and after watching this film I will say this film deserves all of the praise that it's recevied. My goodness this was a magical journey one that I'm glad I got to see.
Hugh and his wonderful team have worked 7 years to make this wonderful film, I would feel like absolute shit if I didn’t even get nominated for an Oscar! The dancing, the singing, the acting, the story, costumes and cinematography all deserve an Oscar. This film is an absolute masterpiece and has a beautiful deep meaning. Like if you agree Edit: wow so many likes! I’m glad 1500 people agree! Thank you for 1.5K!!!
On my way home from a birthday party at about 11:00 pm, my dad turned this song on, we all sat in silence for awhile then I couldn’t hold back... I sang along to the song and started dancing, my dad sang then my brother... we sang and danced all the way home. This song is so powerful and brought me closer to my dad. That was the best moment of my life, i just wanted to share that thx for reading.

This soundtrack is brilliant and amazing in every way. I think Hugh Jackman really shined in this song though. His voice was so overwhelming in the best of ways. Truly a multi talented and wonderful man.
i went to camp this summer and they had a banquet dinner that was the greatest showman themed and they played the music from the movie in the background. this song came on and once the song got hype everyone stood up and started dancing and jumping up and down and it honestly felt like i was in the movie. best feeling ever

I'm hoping both movies will be worth the hype
Manuel Orozco I mean they will be, however for something original like this movie, hell yeah!!

I highly recommend this movie!! This scene was the most touching out of the whole movie, I was in tears😭
hellokytii was this song the transition between the bar scene and the charity/barnum beach scene?
zapzap 32 I don't think so, this was one of the last parts of the movie where Mr.Barnum and the rest of the circus is at the bar, then he takes the train to his wife's house to win her back.
hellokytii so he sings it in the bar when the circus is with him and he realizes that he has to change for Charity and takes the train to her house at about 3:20 and the song ends as he's walking to Charity's house and they do a soft rendition of it at the beach?
It made me tear up too. Beautiful message and story.
My favorite scene was the Greatest Show Reprise where he handed over the circus so he could spend time with his family. Then when he and his wife were sitting in the theatre watching their daughters made me start balling

First time i heard Hugh sing was when he hosted the 2004 Tonys featuring a pre Frozen Idina Menzel winning her Tony for Elphaba in Wicked.
Manuel Orozco: I first heard him sing when I watched his filmed performance in Oklahoma. Great voice :)

Hugh Jackman is Jean Valjean in the 2012 movie adaption of Les Mis and it is awesome

This song could’ve also easily been nominated for the Golden Globe best song too. The soundtrack is amazing
I agree, but unfortunately critics don't.
I'm surprised none of the other songs got recognized at all. Rewrite the Stars and this song are definitely fantastic!
Never Enough is fantastic too. I love Tightrope too. A Million Dreams is awesome ... lol okay I'll stop or else I'd keep going because I basically loved all the songs.
I think it's impossible for anyone to choose a favorite!
A Critic's purpose is to nitpick & criticize. Appreciation is a whole other critter > to enjoy simply the efforts , meanings & emotions touched.

I feel like this song was underrated

That three voice harmony at the end is the most beautiful sound in the world.

It is. It’s just perfect! 👏🏾❤️
@@syxgwendol8972 I love the fact that at the end of the song Philip Carlyle wakes up and that Anne Wheeler kisses him, for me that's the best part of the movie.

Every time it gets to him yelling "from now on" I get the feeling to start running as he does. what a timeless musical series.
I *love* how *comfortable* and *earnest* Jackman sounds here and through the rest of the score. While I recognize that any of these vocals involve a whole lot of construction, practice, time and effort, this track in particular makes it easy to be swept away with Jackman in the lead.
Michelle Alexander he started off on broadway
*cracks knuckles to scour internet*
Also I totally agree about it coming from an emotional place and hitting those chords.
This one was the most surprising song in the score. Did not see it coming, but what a BEAUTIFUL closer!!!!!!!
Lonell Fletcher The movie actually ends with “The Greatest Show” (the song you heard at the beginning) or the continuation of it, to be more precise.
Liza David I saw it. It works well. As far as this soundtrack, though, From Now On is great to close with as it sort of lingers for awhile afterward. This soundtrack is perfect!!!!!!
Lonell Fletcher that is absolutely true! Plus, the dancing in this song (not only this song) was PHENOMENAL!
Liza David if this were a Broadway production, the Tony for best choreography would go to........
Lonell Fletcher Oh gosh, I thought that this WAS a broadway production...I heard so much about it from others in my Broadway groups on Facebook (XD). But, you’re right! It would go to The Greatest Showman!
nearly dislocated my jaw singing to this, it’s just the most passionate song in the movie in my opinion! gives me chills!

For a moment I became a child again, stars in my eyes, I cried, but from happiness that such a masterpiece exists and I watched it. Truly incredible
And I wish you all the best in your efforts to make your dreams come true :)

All of Pasek & Pauls work is fucking art like its all 🔥🔥🔥
They will go down in musical history and sit alongside Rogers & Hammerstein, Lloyd Webber and Rice. They are incredibly talented.
Every time I listen to a song from this movie I think, "This is the best song of the movie." And then I listen to the next one... and the next one.. this whole soundtrack is amazing, and the visuals of the actual movie take them to some other, ethereal level.

Hugh Jackman got a Golden Globe nomination for this movie! And 'This is Me' got nominated for best song!
"The Greatest Showman" has been nominated for best picture at the 2018 Golden Globes, and Hugh Jackman is nominated for best actor.
It got a best picture too? I did not see that!
eh didnt care for This is Me. Thought this song was better
Well it don't not win best drama and best actor in a drama (Hugh Jackman)
But it did win best original song
They have been robbed. Not a single win, and far lesser nominations than it deserved

your welcome

You can’t not do that when this song comes on, lol.
I bet this wont win an Oscar cause the right people never win
enio.a jak Sadly true
It is sad, but it is true. True talent rarely gets recognized.
Its needs a Oscar
This will win. They cannot not let it win! A nomination isn't even enough!
oscar is notoriously for the depressed, tearful movie. they obviously have bad taste
