Ah, yes. You found one of the little pearls in the story. That expression is used. Another way of saying it would be "chiseled in granite". Another metaphor. I am glad that you liked it.
Wow, how exciting! Good for you. That pace will pay off with good progress. Thank you for writing. Perhaps you can update us on how it is going, months from now. If you please.
... I'm familiar with the concept of learning multiple languages. I began with English in school, then picked up Russian for university studies in Moscow. There, I also started learning French, followed by Italian, then Portuguese. Upon my visit to Turkey, I attempted to learn Turkish, which proved quite challenging. Nonetheless, today I speak several languages, some better than others, and it's an enjoyable experience.
For me, learning English demands so much of my time right now that when I think about learning a new language, the question that pops into my mind is: 'how could I fit it into my schedule?' So, I've decided that becoming proficient in English is my priority for now. I really want to become fluent, and I'd love to have an immersive experience by visiting an English-speaking country. Since I'm a native Spanish speaker (and teacher), I feel that Italian, which is the other language I was learning before, will be easier and quicker to master in the future. Thank you for your reflections on the subject, Joseph 👍 I would like to know your opinion about using AI for learning languages, I've found very useful chating with Copilot and others AIs since I can't always pay for one-to-one classes.
Good decision on staying focused on English. I agree that you would find Italian relatively easy when you are ready. I have not use AI for that purpose, so I don't know much about it. I would judge it by the same criteria which allow us to select other content. Is it comprehensible? Is it Interesting? Is the experience Compelling? It has been suggested that AI will revolutionize language learning. I suppose that it is up to us to innovate in the use of AI. I have used AI very little in my language studies. I should experiment with it more
@comprehendeng good criteria, thank you Joseph! 👍🏻 For me it's been comprehensible, interesting and compelling, so I might keep it in my learning journey 😁 I think you could have an interesting experience using it, although I'm not sure if all of them work as well as they do with English for other languages, but it could be a fun experiment!
it's still a lot of work on my English, but I think since I started Japanese it should become my top priority language. I have one issue. I'm much more comfortable with the English. plus there are a lot of interesting content in English. So it's hard to switch.
Hey there!
When I have been heard fixed in stone, it makes me smile. Because I know this good expression well. Many thanks!
Have a lovely day!

I started (on November 8) learning Thai for 3 hours every day, and I use all my remaining free time to study English.
Thank you!
