    Big ships have to stay in dredged channels due to their deep draft. Running outside the channel risks running aground. Small boat captains with shallow draft vessels should steer clear of ships. This video has scenes photographed with telephoto lenses giving you the illusion the vessels are operating in close proximity when actually their not.

    • @cargoships
      @cargoships  Рік тому

      Thank you for providing additional information regarding the video in question. It is important to keep in mind that while it may appear that the vessels are operating in close proximity, they may actually be farther apart than they appear. The use of telephoto lenses can sometimes create an illusion of closeness, especially when filming from a distance.
      As you mentioned, larger ships have to stay within dredged channels due to their deep draft, and smaller boats should steer clear of these vessels to avoid the risk of running aground or getting into a collision. It is important for all boaters to be aware of their surroundings and take appropriate precautions to ensure their safety, as well as the safety of other vessels.
      While it can be exciting to see large ships up close, it is important to do so from a safe distance and not put yourself or others in harm's way. It is also important to respect the rules and regulations that govern maritime traffic, as they are in place to ensure safe and efficient navigation.

      @cargoships  Рік тому

      Thank you for your comment. I completely agree that having a pilot on board during navigation, berthing, or unberthing operations is crucial for ensuring safety at sea. Pilots bring specialized knowledge and expertise to these complex maneuvers, and their presence can help to prevent accidents and mitigate risks. Ultimately, the captain is responsible for the safety of the vessel and all those on board, and having a pilot on board is an important part of fulfilling that responsibility.

    En trafic portuaire, les très gros navires sont, compte tenu de leur taille, difficilement manoeuvrables. Ils ont donc la priorité sur les petits navires qui, eux, sont très manoeuvrables. C'est donc aux petits navires à éviter les gros navires.

    • @cargoships
      @cargoships  Рік тому +1

      Il est vrai que les très gros navires peuvent être difficiles à manœuvrer en raison de leur taille imposante, de leur poids et de leur tirant d'eau important. Ils nécessitent donc souvent plus de temps et d'espace pour effectuer une manœuvre en toute sécurité.
      Le respect des règles de navigation et la communication entre les navires sont essentiels pour garantir la sécurité de tous les navires en mer, quelle que soit leur taille.

    • @cargoships
      @cargoships  Рік тому +1

      In most cases, harbor patrols and other port authorities rely on a combination of warning signals to ensure the safe operation of ships in and around port areas. The primary goal is always to prevent accidents and protect human life as well as the environment. In the event that a ship fails to respond to warnings or is an imminent threat to safety, the harbor patrol can take appropriate measures to ensure the safety of the port and surrounding area.

    After reading the video description above, I skimmed through this video expecting, and I quote "a thrilling and educational experience for viewers". Umm... it's just video with zero narration of a container ship in a harbor that has small boat traffic.... and per all maritime law anywhere in the world, it's always the smaller boats which must yield to the ships. So this video and the description doesn't, and I quote "showcase the captain's focus and determination...". I think @Cargo Ship doesn't get enough attention in real life so he pours-on the drama to otherwise completely uneventful and unremarkable video footage... like this.

    • @cargoships
      @cargoships  Рік тому

      I understand your disappointment with the video description not living up to your expectations. It's possible that the description oversold the video's content, and it's understandable that you feel let down after watching it.
      However, I would like to point out that different people can find interest in different things, and what may seem uneventful or unremarkable to one person may be fascinating to another. While the video may not have been thrilling or educational to you, someone else may have found it informative or enjoyable to watch.
      Additionally, it's important to recognize the skill and focus required to operate a large container ship in a harbor with small boat traffic. While it may be common for smaller boats to yield to larger ships, the captain still needs to carefully navigate through the crowded waters to ensure the safety of everyone involved. The video may not have showcased the captain's focus and determination in the way the description suggested, but it's still possible that those qualities were present and necessary during the ship's journey.
      In any case, I appreciate your feedback and hope that you'll find more satisfying content in the future

      @MISTERLeSkid Рік тому

      @@cargoships Do you actually know anything at all about the maritime shipping industry? In-harbor, the captain is not the one navigating or avoiding anything. That's the job of the harbor pilot and tugboats in every harbor in the world. Publish videos only if you have a clue on the subject. Your ridiculous description suggests you really should speak with a mental health professional.
