    Have had a serious respect for Abloy since I first came across them at work many years ago, 1984. Their engineering and tenacity in making a good security product has not faltered. Your tenacity is quite something this is impressive.
    I am curious as to your job.
    Thank you for not towing the corporate line.

      Thank you Michael. I'm 100% with you on admiration for Abloy's engineering and tenacity. They make lovely locks that are elegant and very effective. A lot of people assume I work on picking these locks to show that they are faulty. In reality the opposite is true. I genuinely only work on locks that I respect. I'm an engineer myself, so when I see the elegant engineering in mechanical designs, I really can't get enough of it. It's hard to describe, but just being around it and gaining a better understanding of it is a real joy. Thank you for your comment. I'm happy you enjoyed my video :)

    Great job my friend always a pleasure to watch you work I’ve been waiting on this video after you showed me you got a pick from hux great job from hux on the pick and his mastery of abloy knowledge to produce them. You two together is a dangerous combination. No lock stands a chance

    • @tumbl3r

      Chris! Hey man... This one was really all Hux. He designed the pick, made it, and taught me everything I needed to know in order to pick it. That guy's dedication is super-human.

    Really nice video, I love your narration style over the top of the video track, you're excellent at that. Hux's pick truly is a thing of beauty and I think you're right, the Abloy execs must quake in their boots every time they see he's published another video. Thanks again, Michael.

  • @Cris-po9cf

    Great picking! I need to get myself one of these locks as a project.
    On why clockwise rotation bites harder - if you are forcing a disc clockwise then the edge of the false gate is driving the side bar into the cam face in the lock body and therefore making it bite harder, while with CCW rotation the edge of the gate pushes the side bar into the core housing, acting against the tension you're applying and actually reliving pressure on the side bar by the lock body. Hence always going to be easier to pop it out of a false gate going CCW, not that it's a massive problem to ease off on the tension or even allow a little counter rotation going CW.

    Great to see you back - it's fascinating to obverse you picking this beautiful lock with your new tool. I think with the engraving on the pick it's easier to keep track of of the discs. But you did a fantastic job getting this baby open :-) Would you consider it to be possible to do that also in the wild without a vice?

    • @tumbl3r
      @tumbl3r  6 років тому

      Thanks Potti314! It's funny actually. I never even look at the marks on the tool. I have talked with others and they depend on the engravings a great deal. For me, watching the lines just confused the matter.
      This lock was actually pretty strait forward to pick, so yes. I think picking it in the wild is totally doable.

I know you take apart locks that I wouldn't dare but this one without the right tools is not easy. Paul Springett did a video on how to put one back together if you would like to watch it. You're not kidding about how tricky they are to get back together. I read about a method using tape, but never did try it. Thanks for the offer! Hey man, no worries. As a skeptic myself, I always appreciate the sentiment. I guess all I'd say is that faking this would have been far harder than just picking it. Not that it's an easy lock to pick by any means, but once you have the tool, it really isn't too bad. There should be quite a few other videos of folks picking the Classic out there. Several of them certainly have a better camera setup than me. I just hope you enjoyed the video and had some fun :) Have a good one!

    is this a blackbelt lock?

  • @4thphaseofmalaise
    @4thphaseofmalaise 2 роки тому

    Nice work. From a practical standpoint this lock DOES win since only a handful of people with a tool like this can pick these disc locks. And even you took a relatively long time to complete the solve. Of course none of this matters if your thief has a cordless angle grinder with a silicon carbide grinding wheel. The keys are TIME and NOISE. There are videos of criminals in broad daylight stealing $1500 bicycles with such angle grinders. They don't even bother with key ways at all.
    One last idea: What if Abloy added a spring loaded dimple to this package? The dimple would have to be actuated for the key to turn like on Mul-T-Lock systems.
