How do you guys break rods?? I havent broken a single rod(at least from fishing) my entire life. Ive caught many big bass, small bluefish and decent sized stripers with my mojo bass, wacky style. My buddy even cranked up a 23in striper from a 20ft pier with it... and to think it cant handle some fresh water bass? Must be manufacturer defect
+viper2788 LOL! I've broken 2 rods this year... Sometimes rods get nicked or banged against something during regular use, or just from transporting them to and from your car. This damage causes the blank to have a flat spot, or cracks it and the next time you set your hook- crack! as they say, shit happens.
I like you thoughts but please stop the fade outs...I was like OK maybe a few between comparisons here and there but every fade out was killing me lol. Other than that nice review.
Yes, the Xtreme is an insane rod. Sadly its out of many anglers' price range. The idea with this comparison is that the Legend Tournament and Mojo are both technique specific rod series and share many design features- they're cousins if you will. That's why we felt the comparison was warranted. And yes, I wish Xtremes were $129, LOL!
Technique specific rods: I like the jig n worm (I think it's called) St. Croix Mojo Bass rod but I want to use it for topwater frog bass fishing. So will I get bad hooksets just because it's not the frog rod by St. Croix? Will I not be able to walk the dog as effectively? I think the rod is 6'6" or 6(8" not sure but it's medium-heavy...I've read time and time again that at least a 6'6" casting rod in medium-heavy power, and a fast action tip is great for topwater frogs and poppers...but again this rod is for jigs and worms or some shit like that.
I feel like my st croix mojo bass slop n frog rod is too stiff. A frog rod is supposed to be really stiff. But it almost feels like when im gonna set the hook the rod wotn bend and the fish will fly through the air.
What rod were you using to flip and pitch? Do you think I could use the 7’4 heavy version on deep diving crank baits, large swimbaits, and big flutter spoons?
Only rods I carry on my boat St Croixs are the best won't use anything put a Lews tournament MG and Quantum Exo and get ready to have some fun those are my setup and won't use anything else

I have just in the last 2 weeks moved from a g loomis glx which is a $400 rod to a mojo bass and there is maybe a 10% difference in sensitivity. The glx is a little lighter also but other than that there really is almost no difference except $300
Im a huge Ugly Stik guy, but when i started with mojo bass, I loved it as if it was one of my other ugly stiks! But too bad i accidently closed my car door on my mojo bass rod..
Crap, just like every modern made tubular rod. They feel great at first but get brittle in the sun. They always work great for a few months and then just fold over even while trolling a crank bait. I have now seen the exact same breakage in the same place on St. Croix, Tsunami, Abu Garcia,and Carbonlites. I have 40 year old rods in my garage that still work fine but anything modern and expensive is pure crap that does not last.
this guy can read a cue card for like 10 seconds then needs a break/edit. find another reviewer or at least have someone else speak/filmed. and just like milk for anchorman....the mirror background? ".....was a bad idea"...did he even say which mojo bass he was using???? maybe in the beginning but i refuse to listen again ughhh

My wife dropped a 16.5” sea kayak on a St Croix Triumph X rod (her favorite) and broke it last week.

Mine broke after a few months of use. Snapped like a ridiculous toothpick.
