Rob, I can't thank you enough for your reactions to Carpenters' songs! I haven't listened to this one in a while, but you have reinforced the emotionality of the lyric and performance. I thoroughly enjoy how you exhibit your feelings. I am old enough to have been a fan since 1970 when "Close to You" was released and became their first #1 single, and I have listened to all their songs countless times over all these years, that I certainly can't make believe it's my first time! 😉 Thank you, Friend!
Her voice in this song Is incredible. Nobody makes you feel the words of a song more than karen.on a good stereo her voice just takes you to another dimension. The more songs you hear her sing the more amazed you are by her versatility to sing all types of music
If you’ll notice before they record this they are joking around and Karen says ‘I have to get in a serious mood here’ and then nails it on one take…magic ❤
Absolutely amazing Karen Carpenter was the greatest female vocalist I ever heard. and that song is unbelievable I just love that song it's my favorite carpenter song.
One of my fav.song of my KC...so,inside the song, when she says"MAKE BELIEVED IT'S YOUR FIRST TIME"...Yes!!way back when i was 10yrs.old,IT'S MY FIRST TIME to fell in love with a woman, named Karen Carpenter...i'm not born in her era, just 22 in age but Karen Carpenter is "my first love"and "last love"forever.
That picture of Karen with perm and the white dress where she is holding flowers is one of her wedding photos! One of my favorites. She looked especially beautiful on her wedding day as every bride should! Our angel!
The loss of Karen at such an early age is proof that nothing is fair in life. When that day from hell hits, a scotch and Karen's voice can make it feel so much better. I am one of the lucky ones who was able to enjoy her music during her lifetime. And thankfully can still appreciate and enjoy it today. You can never react to too many Carpenters songs my friend.
Count me in that group of lucky ones. I grew up with so many great musicians and songs in the 60s and 70s but nobody touched my soul the way her voice did.
EU QUERIA VER COMO VOCÊ REAGIRIA A MÚSICA : ONE MORE TIME ! GRAVADA PELOS CARPINTEIROS EM 1976 ! PRA MIM É UMA DAS MÚSICAS MAIS LINDA DELA , EU SEI QUE AQUI NO BRASIL ELES SEMPRE FORAM MUITO QUERIDOS PELOS FÃS . UM ABRAÇO AMIGUINHO !! BETO - BRASÍLIA - DF👍😊🌞🌻🌼❤❤❤
LOL Actually, I know them since I was a kid. I love their products all of my life. If you love this song, try "for all we know" You won't be disappointed
I'm glad richard decoded to re record thos song! Ot was from Karen's original solo albumn! Hos vision is better! Only richard knew his sisters true talent! He knew how to produce her voice, will all the right ingredients! The right speed. The right instruments, and the right, slow space that showcased karen,s natural, organic voice!
She died in early Feb 1983 just before she turned 33. If only she'd loved herself as we all loved her. People were so cruel to her. Her overbearing mother and a father who didn't defend his daughter.. the paparazzi calling her fat. She was 5'4 "and 140 lbs... not big at all

Karen's voice just stops you in your tracks. Nobody comes close to the purity and magic in her voice ... it was absolutely flawless.
Well said. In your tracks. Beautifully put.
Perfectly said.
In the beginning, in the words of producer, Herb Alpert, "It was like her voice was sitting next to me on the couch."

Added to the list
My guess as to why you didn't find a live performance is the fact that this song was released in 1983 the year Karen passed.
Thats happened to a lot of their songs, poor girl...
