The boys were sent back down the boarding ramp to run back up and go straight to their mom. Every channel showed that moment, with Charles in the background, quite forlorn looking. The press wrote it up as the boys being joyous to see their mom and equally with how she was excited to be reunited with them. They even wrote that Charles' presence was inconsequential to the boys. It was the first time I recognised the disparity in reporting about the then future King in comparison to Diana, who the press were amenable to giving her the victim narrative she needed and wanted. The only reason I saw the full version of the Yacht greeting was that one brave journalist managed to share his entire clip, uncensored. Unfortunately, the channel he worked for, fired him for it. I will say though, that when Diana was asked about Charles as a father, both in their marriage, in the separation and after the divorce, she always acknowledged that he was an attentive, loving and involved dad.
