  • July 18 is Women’s Dive Day. Over the years, Divetech has historically held a diving event whose purpose is to promote the bond of women in scuba diving and raise money for charity.
The circumference of Grand Cayman is approximately 58 miles. For Women’s Dive Day 2020, Divetech will host an event where the ladies of Grand Cayman will attempt to swim this distance underwater in scuba gear. We will have great fun, while raising money for the Cayman Islands Breast Cancer Foundation.
Here’s how this will work: At Divetech’s Lighthouse Point shore diving location, we will have a measured distance. Participants will swim this distance as many times as they wish, and their total distance will be recorded. We will keep going throughout the day until a total distance of 58 miles has been reached.
But we need everyone’s help! We would love for all Cayman residents to stop by for a shore dive at Lighthouse Point anytime from 7:30am-5:00pm. All of your favorite female dive Instructors will be there to say “HI” or join you for your dive. The registration fee will be CI$ 25 and includes an air tank and weights and that entry fee will be donated to the Cayman Islands Breast Cancer Foundation.
While on their shore dive each resident can also help us cover some distance on the line, what each person swims will then be deducted from the total that the female dive Instructors need to swim.
Anyone that would like to participate just needs to be a certified diver and have dived in the last year. There is no official start time, just an entire day 7:30am-5:00pm for people to come and go. Divetech has lots of outdoor space and benches to accommodate everyone while staying socially distant from each other.
We do encourage pre-registration so we can get an idea of what time people plan on showing up so we can safely accommodate everyone who plans on stopping by throughout the day.
Not on island? Please give us a call on 1-877-946-5658 or e-mail info@divetech.com to get involved and make a donation to the Cayman Islands Breast Cancer Foundation.July 18 is Women’s Dive Day.
