The Wreck of IJN Oyodo - Capsized in Shallow Water

In today's video, we look at the last of the famous Kure wrecks. Oyodo, Japan's weird command cruiser. A ship with a pretty unique design, even if she saw little real combat.
Her wreck, meanwhile, provides some interesting images. Not least because we actually have looks at the salvage, this time around.

Your videos are very helpful, I began making more WWII shipwrecks thanks to you, I even did a video of Kongo inspired by you Skynea history and I am making Kure wrecks, I picked 3 and the rest will be built in the future, I have finished Ise,Amagi and I am currently making Tone which will be my 45th wreck model built.

Such is the fate of the command ship that barely had any navy left to command by the time of her loss. Sobering but good video.

It is somewhat surprising how few bombs actually hit. A TBM Avenger carried 4 500 lb bombs normally, so basically just 1 1/4 plane of dozens dispatched hit. The same with the other Kure wrecks. I guess heavy AA and steep hills in the vicinity hampered accuracy because compared to hit rates on moving ships earlier in the war it seems somewhat low given how many planes were attacking and the number of hits scored
