Take into consideration that this is a Berklee instructor.
Personally I think that even if you have played guitar for years it is always good to get this kind of courses. There's always a good change of learning something new, or to see something you already knew from a different perspective.
Finally some free, good and real guitar course. Enrolled already, counting the days :)
God bless you for taking the time for doing this

I have been using william leavitt's modern method for guitar volume 1. Would this course be compatible? I am looking for music that I can play/practice after going through the first half of the book. Thanks in advance.
Enrolled :D
I've enrolled, but don't know if I'll have to watch the class live or it'll be online to watch it lately. Can someone help me know it?
yes, you can, you just have to have either acoustic, either electric guitar :)
Oh yeah!, it's time to dust off the guitar and start to learn in a good way.
I just read the requirements of the course
It need electric guitar.
I don't have electric guitar at home : (
can i just signup to learn by my only old acoustic guitar??

When is coursera is going to offer death metal and dubstep?
You might have more fun in the Berklee improvisation class that starts at the same time.
No previous knowledge is requiered, Chris.
well yes, its intro to guitar so for newbie only right?
I already know the topics of these lessons and am considering taking songwriting the course. What do you guys think? Should I just take this one instead?
I also highly recommend JustinSandercoe of Justinguitar(dot)com if you want to go a little further. He has lots of videos on UA-cam and you might even see him in the related videos. Excellent teacher with a personality, great musician, and all of the online lessons are free. Lots of song lessons in different styles too. Actually, it isn't difficult to find good guitar lessons on UA-cam in general, but at least from my experience I'd say Justin's one of the best.
Have you read FAQ's?
Here you go.
What kind of guitar should I have for the course?
Students should have either an electric or acoustic guitar.
Will I be bored with this course if I've been playing guitar for several years?
I'm pretty sure they'd stay focused just on music, and not on those other things...
