    About this course:
Grasp the essentials needed to begin playing acoustic or electric guitar. You'll learn an easy approach to get you playing quickly, through a combination of exploring the instrument, performance technique, and basic music theory.
For students who have long thought about picking up the acoustic or electric guitar, this course will provide an easy-access foundation that will get you playing. When first learning guitar, it is important to have the material presented in stages, in an enjoyable way that allows you to grasp the basics of the instrument and music. The course begins simply with the parts of the guitar, the names of the strings, tuning, and technique-whether finger-style or pick. It then explores the basics of music theory with such topics as scales, triads, power chords, and fingering and shapes.

Take into consideration that this is a Berklee instructor.
Personally I think that even if you have played guitar for years it is always good to get this kind of courses. There's always a good change of learning something new, or to see something you already knew from a different perspective.

I have been using william leavitt's modern method for guitar volume 1. Would this course be compatible? I am looking for music that I can play/practice after going through the first half of the book. Thanks in advance.

I already know the topics of these lessons and am considering taking songwriting the course. What do you guys think? Should I just take this one instead?

I also highly recommend JustinSandercoe of Justinguitar(dot)com if you want to go a little further. He has lots of videos on UA-cam and you might even see him in the related videos. Excellent teacher with a personality, great musician, and all of the online lessons are free. Lots of song lessons in different styles too. Actually, it isn't difficult to find good guitar lessons on UA-cam in general, but at least from my experience I'd say Justin's one of the best.

Will I be bored with this course if I've been playing guitar for several years?

I'm pretty sure they'd stay focused just on music, and not on those other things...
