Some of the actual locations of the filming are in Townsend, TN. Many of us Christy fans met in Townsend every year for several years after the series for what we called "Christyfest". It was a 3 to 4 day weekend where we shared our love of the series and attended activities related to the story. Over the years, we met several of the actors, producers, and others involved in the production of the series who attended. One year the actress who played Ruby Mae attended with her family. She had little red headed children! We met the "real" Christy's sister one year. We made a few trips to Del Rio and visited real sites and talked with relatives of some of the original families in the story who lived there back then. It was a lot of fun, but eventually we stopped. I still keep in touch with friends I made there over the years.
I worked on the tv show. . . production asst... The site of the filming is in "Rudd Hollow" in Townsend. I haven't been there in years. My sister's house was right there by the doctor's house(cabin). We were over there at "the beach", when 2 men appeared. They were looking at Dale's house(my sister's landlord) for an upcoming tv show. I got hired that day😂😂 It was really cool that first year!! I'm glad you made good memories on your trip!❤
I was so disappointed to learn that these meetings had ceased by the time I found the true locations. I think this story speaks for itself that people like me (who now lives in Greeneville, TN) continue the pilgrimage. :)
We went two years ago. We called ahead and contacted the man who lives in a nearby cabin. He is Fairlight Spencer’s character’s grandson. He invited us in to his kitchen table and gave us a bunch of information. He was very kind! I recommend you get ahold of him!
I learned from my first trip to Tennessee that most of the filming was done at the Appalachian museum most of the cabins are there and so is a lot of the movie props that was left behind after filming including the school house room
Thanks much for the beautiful video. My daughter & I are reading (and re-reading) Christy together. This is inspirational and a chance to reconnect with Godly spiritual roots.
Lol that was the right foundation for that cabin that other road takes you over the mountians to NC . there is a working outhouse on property. they actualy still do a family reunion/christyfest every year Where you can meet several of the decendents of the familys that once lived there / those that still do.
I'm actually related to people from area . My Great -Great Uncle Weasley Clark Ellison helped with information for the book. I visited him nearly every time I was in Tennessee. My Pack side was from there also. I was born & raised a Pack. I've been on Rocky Top. Most beautiful area. Got half sisters& cousins from Newport to Knoxville.
Wow I'm 32 and never knew it was based on a real story I just loved the tv show as a kid lol also what are the odds someone commented on here just yesterday lol

The movies are terrible. Remakes to try to finish the story since cbs prematurely ended the series. There are 18 original episodes from 1994-96. They’re all on UA-cam right now

I heard Christy Fest was last held in 2015. After that, they decided it was too costly and put it on hold for good.
@@kmledin the fest yes but the christy reunion that happens at the mission site still happens every year
You get an A for effort! What an adventure.

The O'Teale (Click) cabin must be the one that burned several years after the TV series. Is Larry Myers no longer living in Chapel Hollow?
