Unfortunately, this fake Tails is surprisingly good with keeping up with Sonic but is also a bit stupider. Can Sonic escape the ticking time bomb before it’s too late and still defeat Robotnik?

This actually sounds like a normal comment someone can make after getting used to a recent game and then going back to one of it's similar predecessors that lack one or two features the recent game has.
Tails doesn't harm you, but if you keep tails off screen it progresses to the next act. Almost like a kind of "challenge" video, like "Super Mario 64 but every object is a coin"
I remember back in the days I used to make a challenge for myself to keep tales with you as much as possible. This means not ditching him and keeping him onscreen as much as possible. I would say they should make a ROM hack for that. Another fun challenge is in aquatic zone Act 1, take the weather path and the goal is to keep tales with you under water for the duration of the level. Meaning you have to make sure you give him bubbles. The only way to do that is of course timing the jumps so AI tales Jumps at the right moment. Also for some reason AI tales spin dashed away after getting a bubble for some reason meaning you have to chase after him to not loose him.
wing fortress...couldn't you jump left immediately (while making sure you can get back onto the ledge similar to hilltop zone 1's plan (4:37 & 7:48) essentially telling tails to jump left off wing fortress RIGHT at the start
Tails is my favorite Sonic character but I enjoyed seeing him missing the lifts and dying in pits😂 When I first read the title I thought the consequence for not losing him was a jump scare along with the game over,glad that wasn't the case!

You use HM4 Strength on the truck on the SS Anne. Once you have caught Mew and unlocked Lose Tails Or Else mode, have Mew be in your party and fly to Bill's House. There you can access Bill's Secret Garden and unlock the exclusive Lose Amy Or Else mode!
